Compensating for ship's motion (roll and pitch) is a problem fundamental to shipboard radars. The more traditional aproach has been to mechanically stabilize the antenna structure. The alternative approach of stabilizing only the antenna beam is far from being new conceptually, but is more realizable with today's technology. The basic elements are a planar array with an elevation scan capability that rotates continuously in azimuth combined with a high speed digital processor. Electronic stabilization of such an antenna is inherently more challenging than that of a two-axis phase-scanned array. An algorithm is derived for surveillance beam positioning as the antenna rotates. The implementation of this algorithm provides hemispheric search beam stabilization. 相似文献

A beamforming technique involving cross correlation of the outputs of two directional arrays is investigated. The performance characteristics of the crossarray system are determined and related to the characteristics of the two individual arrays. It is found that the crossarray beam pattern is the average (in decibels) of the beam patterns of the individual arrays, and that the crossarray gain (rejection of spatially distributed noise) is 1.5 dB greater than the average (in decibels) of the individual array gains. The most interesting applications for this system may be those where the two arrays are quite different, as in the case of a parametric acoustic receiving array (PARRAY) and a broadside line array. 相似文献

We demonstrate the feasibility of a digital beam forming (DBF) and beam space CMA (Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive array antenna by implementing a digital signal processor (DSP) in ASICs using field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), this DBF can synthesize 16 multi-beams and eliminate interference signals by CMA adaptive processing. The whole function was implemented in 10 DSPs about 127,000 equivalent gates. Simple experimental results have confirmed the basic function of the DBF and BSCMA adaptive array antenna 相似文献

Smart antennas are becoming one of the promising technologies to meet the rapidly increasing demands for more capacity of satellite communication systems. A main component in a smart antenna system is beamforming. Because of the limitations of analog beamforming, digital beamforming will be employed in future satellite communication systems. We evaluate the performance of various digital beamforming strategies proposed in the literature for satellite communications: 1) single fixed beam/single user, 2) single fixed beam/multiple users, 3) single adaptive beam/single user, and 4) single Chebyshev dynamic beam/multiple users. Multiple criteria including coverage, system capacity, signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR), and computation complexity are used to evaluate these satellite communication beamforming strategies. In particular, a Ka-band satellite communication system is used to address the various issues of these beamforming strategies. For the adaptive beamforming approach, subarray structure is used to obtain the weights of a large 2D antenna array, and a globally convergent recurrent neural network (RNN) is proposed to realize the adaptive beamforming algorithm in parallel. The new subarray-based neural beamforming algorithm can reduce the computation complexity greatly, and is more effective than the conventional least mean square (LMS) beamforming approach. This paper reviews system configuration requirements and analyzes detectability performance characteristics for maximum likelihood array reception of multipath. Performance is analyzed to determine the effects of channel multipath structure (multipath delay and signal power division among the paths), space-time correlation properties of the incident processes, and the array spacing. It is shown by a series of case studies, that for single element coupling, as well as array coupling, an increased multipath delay factor results in decreased system detectability for fixed signal and noise intensity levels. The performance capacity is degraded as the available signal power tends to distribute more uniformly between the paths. These effects are attributed to the loss of effective signal energy concentration, resulting in a lower effective pre-detection signal-to-noise ratio. An investigation of the effects upon system performance, due to array element spacing, shows that performance is enhanced by increasing the spacing relative to the multipath delay factor and the reciprocal signal bandwidth. The former is the result of a more directive detectability (beam) pattern arising from the increased spacing. In effect, with increased spacing, the main lobe of the pattern is narrowed, while the side lobes are optimally suppressed by the required noise related array element link, frequency filters (weights). 相似文献

An update of a phased array radar project with the experimental system ELRA (electronic steerable radar) is given with respect to the extended and improved possibilities for performing measurements and evaluations for different types of radar operation. The variability of waveforms for solid-state transmitters is described. Flexible control of multifunction operation with various search and localization tasks is achieved with a network of microcomputers. Different means of signal processing are used for target detection and estimation. The antenna pattern of a receiving adaptive array of arbitrary three-dimensional geometry operating in an environment of K sources, one desired signal and (K - 1) jammers, is considered. It is shown that the adapted (voltage) antenna pattern of the array is a linear combination of K (or less) basis patterns, each of which is a function of one source only. We find that these basis patterns have a simple physical meaning, namely, the kth basis pattern is the pattern realized by the array when the transmission of source k is considered a desired signal and all other sources are turned off. When the array elements are isotropic, these basis patterns are retrodirective (that is, the mainlobe of the kth basis pattern points at source k). It had been shown that this property is also exhibited by a different decomposition of the adapted pattern in the special case of a single jammer (K = 2). In contrast, our decomposition which is simpler than the earlier one, yields retrodirective beams for all K. The simple, physically meaningful, pattern decomposition developed here is quite significant in the insight it provides regarding the basic underlying principles of adaptive arrays. A phased array radar seeker (PARS) must be able to effectively decouple body motion and accurately extract the line-of-sight (LOS) rate for target missile tracking.In this study,the real time two-channel beam pointing error (BPE) compensation method of PARS for LOS rate extraction is designed.The PARS discrete beam motion principium is analyzed,and the mathematical model of beam scanning control is finished.According to the principle of the antenna element shift phase,both the antenna element shift phase law and the causes of beam-pointing error under phantom-bit conditions are analyzed,and the effect of BPE caused by phantom-bit technology (PBT) on the extraction accuracy of the LOS rate is examined.A compensation method is given,which includes coordinate transforms,beam angle margin compensation,and detector dislocation angle calculation.When the method is used,the beam angle margin in the pitch and yaw directions is calculated to reduce the effect of the missile body disturbance and to improve LOS rate extraction precision by compensating for the detector dislocation angle.The simulation results validate the proposed method. 相似文献

在检测高衰减的大厚度构件时,相控阵超声声束在非聚焦区域的声能量损失严重,采用线阵或矩阵超声换能器的检测精度和最大检测深度常难以满足要求。首先,建立了合成声束三维声场分布模型,分析了不同阵列超声换能器的空间声场能量分布特点,发现环阵超声换能器在相同聚焦深度处的声场特性更好,同时具有阵元数量少、声束焦斑沿轴线中心完全对称等特点。然后,建立了一种采用环阵超声换能器的全聚焦方法(TFM,Total Focusing Method),并基于试样群速度测量结果对各向异性材料中的聚焦算法进行了优化。在这种方法中将所采集到的全矩阵数据沿换能器中心轴线进行重建,可实现沿深度方向的逐点无穷聚焦。最后,利用所研制的阵列超声C扫描自动检测系统对预埋有缺陷的3D打印钛合金试样进行了对比检测实验,结果表明采用全聚焦成像算法的环阵超声换能器能实现55 mm试样内部直径0.8 mm、深度5.0 mm平底孔和横孔缺陷的精确检测,相对于常规的动态聚焦算法有更高的检测信噪比和定量精度。 相似文献

A method of estimating the angle of arrival of a signal at an array of sensors in an external noise environment is outlined. The development is based on a maximum likelihood estimator and leads naturally to adaptive sum and difference beams which null the external noise sources. An algorithm for estimating angle of arrival, based on the outputs of adaptively distorted sum and differnce beams, is shown to perform well in the presence of sidelobe and/or main beam interference. 相似文献

In an agile beam phased array radar, the beam is often multiplexed over several angular positions, and “listens” in each position only over an instrumented range that may be a fraction of the unambiguous range as determined by the pulse repetition period in each position. After transmitting a pulse in a given direction, the beam is switched, essentially instantaneously, to another position, after the instrumented range delay. In this second position, echoes from the first position, from multiple trips of the instrumented range, enter the one-way angular sidelobes of the first position. This interference is compounded if there are several beam positions in a pulse repetition period. The author proposes a method of phase coding the pulses in such a way that the pulse-to-pulse phase variation in each direction is orthogonal to every other phase code in the other directions. The codes are Walsh functions. These are sets of binary valued (+1 or -1) functions such that all of the functions in the set are mutually orthogonal. Not every possible number N of pulses in each direction and number K of beam positions can be accommodated, but a large variety of such combinations can be accommodated. Several examples are given. The combination of low one-way sidelobes and orthogonality (or near orthogonality) of the phase codes should provide for very stringent sidelobe self interference rejection 相似文献
