Doppler processors are used in radar to separate target returns from clutter. When the clutter is at a range farther than the unambiguous range of the radar, the ability to reject the clutter is degraded. In this article the degradation is analyzed for an N-pulse batch processor with Dolph weighting, and the results show how degradation varies with design sidelobe level.  相似文献

The problem of achieving the optimum moving target indicator (MTI) detection performance in strong clutter of unknown spectrum when the set of data available to the estimation of clutter statistics is small due to a severely nonhomogeneous environment is studied. A new adaptive implementation, called the Doppler domain localized generalized likelihood ratio processor (DDL-GLR), is proposed, and its detection performance is studied in detail. It is shown that the DDL-GLR is a data-efficient implementation of the high-order optimum detector and has several advantages of practical importance over the adaptive processors  相似文献

Comparison between monostatic and bistatic antenna configurationsfor STAP   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The unique characteristics of bistatic radar operation on the performance of airborne/spaceborne moving target indicator (MTI) radars that use space-time adaptive processing (STAP) are discussed. It has been shown that monostatic STAP radar has the following properties. 1) For a horizontal flight path and a planar Earth the curves of constant clutter Doppler (isodops) are hyperbolas. 2) For a sidelooking antenna geometry the clutter Doppler is range independent. 3) Clutter trajectories in the cosφ-F plane (F=normalized Doppler) are in general ellipses (or straight lines for a sidelooking array). We demonstrate that these well-known properties are distorted by the displacement between transmitter and receiver in a bistatic configuration. It is shown that even for the sidelooking array geometry the clutter Doppler is range-dependent which requires adaptation of the STAP processor for each individual range gate. We develop computer simulation procedures which enable us to generate any correlated non-Gaussian radar clutter that can be modeled as a spherically invariant random process (SIRP). In most cases, when the clutter is a correlated non-Gaussian random process, performance of the optimal radar signal processor cannot be evaluated analytically. Therefore, in order to evaluate such processors, there is a need for efficient computer simulation of the clutter. We present two canonical simulation procedures for the generation of correlated non-Gaussian clutter. A method for evaluating the performance of cell-averaging constant false alarm rate (CA-CFAR) processors which use the amplitude of echo signals rather than their squared amplitude is presented. Results for the case of Rayleigh clutter/noise statistics are given. Detection probabilities are evaluated for the case of a Rayleigh fluctuating target embedded in Rayleigh clutter/noise for linear-law CA-CFAR processors. These results are observed to be practically identical to those of square-law CA-CFAR processors for which analytical expressions are readily available. These observations are verified using Monte Carlo simulations. The same conclusion is reached in the case of a nonfluctuating target embedded in Rayleigh clutter/noise for which only simulation results are presented  相似文献

Statistical analyses of measured radar ground clutter data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The performance of ground-based surveillance radars strongly depends on the distribution and spectral characteristics of ground clutter. To design signal processing algorithms that exploit the knowledge of clutter characteristics, a preliminary statistical analysis of ground-clutter data is necessary. We report the results of a statistical analysis of X-band ground-clutter data from the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Phase One program. Data non-Gaussianity of the in-phase and quadrature components was revealed, first by means of histogram and moments analysis, and then by means of a Gaussianity test based on cumulants of order higher than the second; to this purpose parametric autoregressive (AR) modeling of the clutter process was developed. The test is computationally attractive and has constant false alarm rate (CFAR). Incoherent analysis has also been carried out by checking the fitting to Rayleigh, Weibull, log-normal, and K-distribution models. Finally, a new modified Kolmogorov-Smirnoff (KS) goodness-of-fit test is proposed; this modified test guarantees good fitting in the distribution tails, which is of fundamental importance for a correct design of CFAR processors  相似文献

Side Detection System (SDS) based on radar technology for automotive applications is introduced. The functional requirements of such a system are described and the resulting safety enhancement benefits are summarized. Also, the nature of the radar environment for the side zone application is reviewed in qualitative terms. Minimizing cost is a necessary system design driver, and presents a considerable challenge for radar designs in all but the most primitive capability cases. A cost effective design approach and radar system architecture which solves the side zone application problem of separating potentially hazardous target returns from exorbitant amounts of clutter are discussed in some detail. This design has been in road test for several months, and has achieved enthusiastic customer acceptance  相似文献

It has been shown in the literature that the linear-phase constraint of finite-duration impulse-response (FIR) digital filters can, under certain circumstances, be effectively traded either for a better filter amplitude response or a reduction in the number of filter coeficients. It is shown that such a tradeoff can be exploited for moving target indicator (MTI) radar signal processors to increase the usable bandwidth for target detection. Although it is demonstrated that the increase is significant for narrowband (ground) clutter, it is negligible for wideband (weather) clutter.  相似文献

针对圆台共形阵列,建立了空时二维自适应处理(STAP)的杂波模型,给出了圆台阵列杂波抑制最优权值的计算方法。在此基础之上,为了实现可应用到实际环境中的自适应处理方法,进一步讨论了将局部联合域(JDL)降维算法推广至圆台阵列中的问题。得出了圆台阵列JDL算法降维变换矩阵的表达形式,研究了参考波束的数目选取、波束指向等因素对降维损失的影响。理论分析以及仿真结果表明,通过合理选择通道数、波束方位向指向间隔等参数,该算法能够减少自适应波束形成的计算量,而且可以用较少的训练样本获得较好的处理性能。  相似文献

A new form of the probabilistically strongest neighbor filter (PSNF) algorithm taking into account the number of validated measurements is proposed. The probabilistic nature of the strongest neighbor (SN) measurement in a cluttered environment is shown to be varied with respect to the number of validated measurements. Incorporating the number of validated measurements into design of the PSNF produces a consistent and cost effective data association method. Simulation studies show that the new filter is less sensitive to the unknown spatial clutter density and is more reliable for practical target tracking in nonhomogeneous clutter than the existing PSNF. It has similar performances to the probabilistic data association filter amplitude information (PDAF-AI) with much less computational complexities.  相似文献

海杂波是反舰导弹末制导雷达回波的主要背景噪声,在末制导雷达模拟器的设计中,海杂波产生器是一个重要组成部分。在研究海杂波噪声概率分布密度的基础上,给出了一种基于FPGA技术的海杂波产生器的设计方案,并利用Altera公司的cyclone II系列芯片和QuartusII开发软件对设计进行了仿真验证。采用FPGA技术可以方便地对设计方案、海杂波的分布形式、数据量大小进行修改。仿真结果表明,该设计能够产生符合要求的海杂波信号,并且具有结构简单、集成度高、易于修改等特点。  相似文献

A new family of constant false alarm rate (CFAR) processors is introduced. An Ll-CFAR forms its noise power estimate by linearly filtering ranked samples from the reference set; the weights of this combination, however, depend not only on the rank, but also on the relative proximity of the sample to the cell under test. From the class of Ll-CFARs may be chosen members which effectively censor spurious targets; members which exhibit impressive control of false alarm in the presence of a clutter edge; and members which are robust against both such inhomogeneities. While the design of such schemes is involved, their implementation is not significantly more burdensome than that of plain ordered statistic CFAR (OS-CFAR). After a discussion of the stochastic training of Ll-CFAR, the performance is thoroughly assessed under the most commonly encountered instances of environmental conditions, and compared with those of classical CFAR techniques  相似文献

The inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) algorithm for imaging objects moving in a straight line requires range alignment as a preprocessing step since scatterers migrate through the various range bins. The conventional correlation alignment method fails when applied in ground scenarios like an airport due to the clutter environment. A track-while scan (TWS) algorithm is developed for targets in a clutter environment. The problem has been studied using only the position measurements [1, 5-8], but the simulation results have not been satisfactory. Modern processing techniques (FFT processor) ) in air traffic control and surveillance radar receivers provide both position and radial velocity. The radial velocity measurement may be conveniently used in the target-track correlation process, which will reduce the association ambiguity in the clutter environment. t. In the clear environment the algorithm using the position and radial velocity measurements has been treated in [3, 4]. A TWS algorithm, using both position and radial velocity measurements for targets in a clutter environment, is presented here. The algorithm obtained is nonlinear and adaptive. In order to evaluate the improvement due to radial velocity measurement a simulation has been performed on a digital computer. The algorithm was run with and without radial velocity measurements to compare its performances. An improvement was noted especially when the target path included an accelerated portion.  相似文献

A linear network of communicating processors is examined. The objective is to solve a computational problem in a minimal amount of time. The processors in the networks may be equipped either with or without front-end processors for communication off-loading. The cases of equal division of processing load and optimal division of processing load are discussed for both the network with front-end processors and the network without front end processors. A recent series of papers have provided a model for a staggered-PRF radar which can be used to estimate both the depth of the first null (which is dependent upon the ratio of some function fM(?) of the set of M sampling deviations {?m} to the average sampling interval) and the clutter attenuation (as a function of the product of fM(?) and clutter standard deviation ?c). Some inconsistencies in the aforementioned papers are discussed and it is shown that realistic filters and typical stagger-ratio sets produce results which differ significantly from the idealized-filter predictions. Furthermore, even after filtering the residual clutter power at dc is shown to be more significant than the power in all the displaced clutter spectra postulated by the aforementioned model.  相似文献

A common problem in waveform design is to adapt the transmitted signal to the target environment in order that the interference from extended fields of scatterers is reduced. This problem is investigated here for the special case of detection of a single target in the ``vicinity' of an extended clutter space. The paper considers the possibility of confining the matched-filter response in delay and Doppler, or ambiguity function, to a narrow strip with arbitrary orientation in the delay-Doppler plane. It is shown that strict confinement of the response is achievable only with waveforms that are unlimited in both time and frequency domain. With practical waveforms, which are necessarily of finite extent, one merely can trade close-target separability against detectability in the background clutter. Thus, one form of the resolution problem is exchanged against the other. The paper examines these effects quantitatively.  相似文献
