Hughes space and communications was awarded a contract in January 1998 from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for the design, manufacture, integration and launch of two next generation geostationary operational environmental satellites (GOES) and options for two additional satellites. The satellites measure weather phenomena as the primary mission and X-rays and charged particles as the secondary missions. This paper describes the GOES electrical power subsystem (EPS) requirements, architecture, hardware and energy balance analysis. As of this writing, the design of the EPS has completed the critical design review phase and the hardware has entered the manufacturing phase  相似文献

A five-phase Power Management and Distribution System for a More-Electric Aircraft (MADMEL) program was awarded by the Air Force to Northrop/Grumman Military Aircraft Division in September 1991. The objective of the program is to design, develop, and demonstrate an advanced electrical power generation and distribution system for a More-Electric Aircraft (MEA). The MEA emphasizes the use of electrical power in place of hydraulics, pneumatic, and mechanical power to optimize the performance and life cycle cost of the aircraft. This paper presents an overview of the MADMEL program and a top-level summary of the program results, development and test of major components to date. In Phase I and Phase II studies, the electrical load requirements were established and the electrical power system architecture was defined for both near-term (NT-year 1996) and far-term (FT-year 2003) MEA application. The detailed design and specification for the Electrical Power System (EPS), its interface with the Vehicle Management System, and the test set-up were developed under Phase III. Phase IV, fabrication and testing of the subsystem level hardware, has been completed. Overall system level integration and testing, Phase V, is scheduled to be completed by September 1999  相似文献

The testing and evaluation of sophisticated security systems has remained in the domain of governments in national facilities and the commercial security industry through manufacturers and engineering consultants. As well, the production of testing protocols and industry standards has been developed by national organisations, professional security, and engineering bodies in the appropriate security fields. The Security Systems Research and Testing Laboratory in the School of Engineering and Mathematics at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Western Australia has commenced operations in research, testing, and evaluation of security systems. This paper wir describe the first year of operation of the Security Systems Research and Testing Laboratory, and will describe the role that testing and evaluation of security systems plays in the education and training of Security Science graduates, as well as the benefits that the Laboratory brings to the security industry through its testing programme.  相似文献

The scattering effect of structures on Instrument Landing System localizer signals is analyzed in this paper. A generalized computer program results which can be used to determine the reflection from surfaces of most materials and orientations for which the radius of curvature is large compared with the wavelength. For most reflecting walls, a closed form solution is used and the computation time is short. The program will enable users to determine the placement of hangars, towers, etc., in airports and to find ways to reduce their effect on localizer facilities.  相似文献

With a precise geoid, GOCE will allow an estimation of absolute dynamic topography from altimetry. The projected benefits to operational oceanography and its applications are analyzed herein. After a brief overview of operational oceanography, we explain how the new geoids will be used in the future to improve real time altimeter products and to better constrain modelling and data assimilation systems. A significant impact is expected both for mesoscale (e.g. better estimations and forecasts of currents for pollution monitoring, marine safety, offshore industry) and climate (better initialization of coupled ocean/atmosphere models) applications. 介绍了一复杂群塔结构节段刚性测压试验概况和主要试验结果,讨论了结构典型部位风压分布的基本特征和结构风压分布的基本规律.试验结果表明,由于该结构由多个单体高耸塔结构组成,相互干扰严重,风压的分布相当复杂.根据风压试验结果得到了风力沿各塔高度的分布,并讨论了分布规律,进一步得出基底剪力系数和基底弯矩系数,分析了最危险风向,给出了用于结构设计的荷载建议.  相似文献

The Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) and Horizons, Inc. have completed the development, calibration and evaluation of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)/US Army Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) funded IFSARE (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar for Digital Terrain Elevations) system. This system rapidly produces geocoded SAR imagery and digital terrain elevation data. The dual-channel, X-band SAR is installed in the ERIM Learjet 36. The ground processor was developed in collaboration with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The system produces 1.5 to 3.0 meters (1 sigma) absolute accuracy three-dimensional terrain elevation data over large areas without the use of ground control points. A part of the Earth station at the Kashima Branch of the Radio Research Laboratories has a highly sensitive receiving system newly designed for receiving 3 coherent and weak beacon signals transmitted from the Engineering Test Satellite Type-II (ETS-II) of Japan and obtaining propagation data on quasimillimeter and millimeter wavelengths. The ground system includes a main receiving station which has a 10-m diameter antenna for multifrequencies, highly sensitive receivers, a rain radar, which has many unique functions, a radiometer, meteorological instruments, and data processing computers. The facilities of the main receiving station for ETS-II propagation experiments, except for the rain radar, are described.  相似文献

Parks College of Engineering and Aviation of Saint Louis University [1i] has a tradition of offering an outstanding aerospace engineering education to prepare students at the undergraduate and graduate level for careers in commercial aviation, defense systems, and space systems fields. Courses are offered across the engineering spectrum (aerospace, electrical and computer engineering, and physics departments) ranging from an introduction to aerospace engineering to spacecraft design, spacecraft communications, and space physics. Students participate in courses that include orbital mechanics, space dynamics, spacecraft engineering, and space systems. Senior capstone project work is also included. A separate Astronautics Engineering track as well as a Minor in Space Systems Engineering for non-aerospace engineering students is currently being developed. A, number of student-driven space systems projects are in process that involve design, development, and test of small satellites similar to those recently highlighted in the March 2009 Systems article entitled The First one Hundred University-Class Spacecraft 1981 - 2008. To support its satellite program, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has an extensive infrastructure of ground support facilities throughout the country and abroad. The major elements include the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), and the Indian National Satellite (INSAT) control facilities. 提出基于 MultiGen Creator 和 Vega 开发出飞机训练模拟器视景系统的视景节点的软硬件配置要求;论述了基于 Creator 的实体建模方法、基于 Creator 建模和 Vega 软件环境的空中、海面等环境的生成方法、视景仿真软件开发过程以及整体系统的实现等关键技术。仿真结果表明,该视景系统能逼真地演示飞机训练模拟器的仿真过程,并且满足系统仿真实时性的要求。  相似文献

通过底座天平测力风洞试验,测量了三种典型的格构式塔架(输电塔、通讯塔和电视塔)的顺风向、横风向和扭转向动力风荷载。由于模型本身的质量不够轻、刚度不够大,一阶共振力的影响不可忽视,本文作者推导了消除模型一阶共振影响的实用公式,进而得到格构式塔架顺、横、扭三维广义荷载谱和均方根广义力系数。最后,本文分析了这三种格构式塔架的动力风荷载特征,得到了几点重要的结论。  相似文献

The configuration, on-ground tests, and design verification results for the multibeam antenna flight model for Engineering Test Satellite-VI (ETS-VI) are described for onboard multibeam antennas with thirteen and five beams for the Ka- and S-bands, respectively. The antennas feature Ka-band frequency reuse in alternate beams through use of a cluster horn; shared use of a reflector for two frequency bands using a novel frequency selective surface (FSS); large, lightweight deployable main reflectors with diameters of 3.5 m and 2.5 m; and a highly accurate antenna-pointing control system consisting of RF sensors and an antenna-pointing mechanism to drive the subreflector  相似文献

This summarizes the authors' research into the state-of-the-practice of software quality assurance (SQA) in software organizations throughout the Department of Defense (DoD). Information was obtained through personal visits to a limited number of software facilities and by utilizing a SQA questionnaire that was mailed to 27 DoD software organizations. Twenty questionnaires were returned from Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force organizations involved in the Life Cycle Software Support (LCSS) process. The survey developed information regarding such topics as: staffing; personnel qualifications; quality standards used; SQA responsibilities; error data collection; adequacy of existing documentation; staff composition; distribution of SQA effort; and workforce mix. In addition, a list of SQA ``Lessons Learned' was developed from comments made by DoD quality managers. The results of this study indicate a wide variance in the application of SQA within the DoD.  相似文献

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has completed technical standards for the precision distance measuring equipment (DME/P). The DME/P is an integral element of the microwave landing system (MLS) and will provide the precision ranging function to complement the already standardized azimuth and elevation guidance functions of the system. In 1978 an ICAO meeting concluded that the DME/P should be integrated into the existing standards for the conventional DME (DME/N) as a compatible service. The motivation for this was economic. It was reasoned that a single L-band airborne unit could satisfy the need for both existing enroute and the new precision approach and landing services, thereby avoiding unnecessary duplication of on-board ranging equipment. Furthermore, this approach would permit existing conventional airborne equipment to obtain service from the new DME/P ground facilities at least during the initial stages of MLS implementation. These compatibility requirements were later incorporated into the DME/P statement of operational requirements which was accepted at an ICAO meeting in April 1981. Further, they have been a primary focus in the DME/P standardization effort which has been actively pursued since late 1980. The conceptual design of the DME/P that evolved from the ICAO process is discussed here. The comptability issues are highlighted, and it is shown how they are accommodated in the system synthesis which also treats the obvious need for a guidance function of high integrity and robust performance in the severe multipath environment encountered in approach and landing operations.  相似文献
