Abstract:On the geostationary Earth orbit(GEO) mobile communications satellite,the deployable multi-beam antenna system with large scale reflector and multi-feed is often adopted,which has higher antenna gain and system performance.At the same time,due to the huge reflector and feed array,the scattering effect probably exists,which comes from the satellite body and other structure in the satellite layout.This paper focuses on the multi-beam antenna scattering effect of the satellite body on the GEO mobile communications satellite.With the help of software,the contours of the satellite composite multi-beam antenna excluding and including the satellite body were calculated,respectively.The comparison shows that,due to the scattering effect of the satellite body,the co-polarization and cross polarization of the composite multi-beam 3dB gain coverage is changed 0.1dB and 0.2dB,respectively.Consequently,the scattering effect of the satellite body can affect the multi-beam antenna.And an analysis of the effect of the satellite layout on electromagnetic wave transmission is needed to avoid repudiation problems.
