Research progresses and prospect of active shape control for space-borne antenna reflectors

Abstract:The space-borne antenna is an important payload of the satellite system, and plays a decisive function in the field of microwave remote sensing, deep space exploration, military reconnaissance, and military communication. Large-aperture and high-precision have become the main development directions of space-borne antennas with the increasing demands for antenna frequency and gain. Traditional passive methods are difficult to guarantee the shape precision of the reflector on orbit, and the active shape control technology is becoming an important selection to solve the problem. The research progress of active shape control technology for antenna reflectors is introduced. The contents include active shape control schemes, actuator technologies, active shape control methods,high-precision deformation measurement ways, and experimental systems of active shape control. Key technologies of active shape control for space-borne antennas are analyzed and summarized, and the development is prospected. With the rapid progress of advanced manufacturing technology, such as precision manufacturing, additive manufacturing 3D-printing technology, more methods and solutions can be used for the fabrication for the feed chain. For advanced manufacturing technology, the design of feed chain needs the new development and structure configuration, the paper gives the possible solutions for this point, which can help pushing the application of advanced manufacturing technology in the space manufacturing region.
