Abstract: | Routine observations of lower ionosphere electron densities are now available from the EISCAT radar facility. High resolution (3km in altitude) power profile measurements are obtained from the altitude interval 55 to 170km for approximately 400 hours per year, collected during a series of continuous periods of operation of 24 or more hours at a time. Variations of D and E-region electron densities are presented, as a function of solar-zenith angle during quiet conditions, and as a function of simulated 30MHz riometer absorption during disturbed conditions. |
