Abstract: | The first ozone data from the Northern Hemisphere meridional flight “SIMOC” are presented. The flight was made in May of 1981 from Germany up to 82 °N and then down to the Equator and back with the Falcon 20E German research aircraft. These data include those obtained using a differential solar absorption spectrometer developed and built at the Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie in Lindau. Ozone profiles obtained from an intensive series of balloon flights launched in northern Sweden over a two week period are also presented and discussed in terms of the variability in ozone concentration that they demonstrate in the middle atmosphere. |
