Back to the moon: the lure of lunar exploration

Interest in returning to the Moon is growing and has sparked plans for a NASA robotic sample return probe to the South Pole-Aitken basin. Japan and the European Space Agency also have plans for lunar probes and China is interested in expanding its new space program to the Moon.
