Abstract:Disturbances on a satellite bus can be a great enemy to high resolution space cameras by causing significant degradation to their image quality. An effective way to solve the problem is to isolate the payload from satellite bus using passive vibration isolators. A low frequency vibration isolation system was developed and demonstrated through system-level performance testing. Results showed that two of the primary frequency contents of the disturbances transmitting to the payload were attenuated by 96% and 98% respectively, and the image jitter was reduced to less than 0.5 pixels from 5-10 pixels.
