On choice of a swirler for the impulse combustion chamber

In this paper, some problems on implementation of an air-fuel mixture combustion process in the flame tube with a GTE impulse combustion chamber flow swirler are considered. When the peripheral swirler is placed in the flame tube head of this chamber, a number of 3-D reverse flow zones are formed to effectively mix up the air-fuel mixture providing its steady-state combustion. As a result, the thrust impulse is increased and a level of atmospheric emissions of NO_x, CO, and some other detrimental compounds is significantly decreased.
