| Abstract: | The Institute for Space Biomedicine began work in October 1987, aiming to make a major contribution to our understanding of maintaining human fitness during space flight. Through animal tests, our knowledge of the effects of microgravity, radiation and confinement can be expanded, so that life support systems in space can be further developed. The Deputy Director of the Institute explains its goals. |
