| Abstract: | The standard model of stationary and time-dependent accretion onto magnetic white dwarfs are reviewed, with emphasis on the hydrodynamic structure and the emission properties of the post-shock flow. Observational consequences and applications of the model are discussed, and results obtained from our recent calculations are also presented. |
