Recent Development of the Global Navigation Satellite System

In the mid 1990's,European Union proposed first at all a concept of the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) that is a synthetic constellation system,not a single constellation system.Based on the idea of the author the current GNSS mainly includes GPS, GLONASS,Galileo,Compass and IRNSS system,and their satellite based augmentation systems such as WAAS,LAAS,EGONS and GDGPS.This paper summarizes the recent development of GPS,GLONASS and Galileo system,and the developing march of Compass and IRNSS system.
