Abstract:As there are many important applications of atom interference gyroscope in areas like inertial navigation, precision measurement and geophysics due to its high sensitivity and good long-term stability, the atom interference gyroscope has become a research focus for its great scientific importance and practical value. In this paper, we firstly introduce the study progress and the developmental trend of atom interference gyroscopes in the world. Then, the requirement of atom interference gyroscope for test of the general relativistic effect and applications of the inertial navigation are analyzed. Furthermore, the study progress of atom interferometry, the Sagnac effect, and the atom interference gyroscope in our lab over the past decade are introduced. Finally, the strengths and weaknesses of various kinds of atom interference gyroscope are discussed, and the development opportunities of atom interference gyroscope are prospected and the challenges of its applications in fields of precision measurements and inertial navigation techniques are analyzed.
