Analysis on Situational Awareness in Runway Incursions

With the increase of air traffic flow, runway incursion is deteriorating. An investigation on runway incursion shows that twenty-nine percent of runway incursion is caused by controller errors. And situational awareness is the major factor for controller errors. This thesis analyzes the be- havior and reasons for loss of situational awareness in runway incursion incidents, and proposes the countermeasures to prevent runway incursion from the point of enhancing the ability of controllers to maintain situational awareness.
