| Abstract: | The new formulae of a class of stress intensity factors, which are suggested from the reexamination of the collinear semi infinite crack problem, are compared with the results of finite element calculations and experiments. It demonstrates the practical importance of the new formulae, and at the same time shows that the old counterparts, which are contained in several important engineering handbooks used all over the world, do not work with practical engineering problems. |
