| Abstract: | A joint detection threshold corresponding to a circle around the origin of the in-phase and quadrature components of a radar IF process is equivalent to envelope thresholding. Square and octagonal approximations to the circle are evaluated for prescribed false-alarm probabilities and the variation of detection probability with signal phase. |
