THREE PHASE APPROACH AHD ACTIVITY CYCLE DIAGRAMS

Two simulation modelling methods for discrete systems:the Three Phase Approach and Activity Cycle Diagrams are introduced, analysed, and discussed. Their characteristics,application and recent developments are pointed out as well. The Three Phase Approach that is a world view of analysing and studying of simulation problems reflects concretely the program construction of simulation software and models. Activity Cycle Diagrams,which are associated with the Three Phase Approach,present the logical flow of entities in a system conceptually. The merits of these two methods have made them both the most popular methods for discrete simulation modelling in Europe,and particularly in the United Kingdom.
