The force on a coil moving with a high-speed parallel to a conducting grid consisting of parallel tubes is investigated. The coil performs a rebound motion or an oscillatory heave motion when pressed toward the grid by reactive on-board engines. The coil is approximated by two parallel wires moving parallel to the grid tubes. The corresponding electrodynamic problem is two dimensional and is solved by expansions in terms of Bessel functions. Expressions are derived for the lift and drag force as well as the heat generated in the tubes in the limit of strong skin effect. The dependence on the grid spacing is analysed in the approximation of no mutual inductance between the tubes. Two specific applications are a shunt deflecting the coil, and a funnel leading to multiple reflection. Finally, the varying magnetic flux threading the coil is considered and the thermal load of the coil is estimated.  相似文献

In recent years Micro Systems Technology (MST) was introduced to manufacture miniaturized components for satellite subsystems, like small sensors, valves, micromotors, antennas and many more. These components can be used to build a new class of satellites weighing considerably less than 10 kg, with the capabilities comparable to present microsatellites. With the possibility of cheap mass production of such nanosatellites new applications become possible. However, the construction of very small satellites is connected with problems concerning launch, orbit control and, deorbiting. Furthermore the reduction of size creates certain limits for power consumption, data rates and optical resolutions which have to be carefully considered.  相似文献

The idea of stabilizing the shape of a reflector dish for a space-based radiotelescope by an extensive magnetic field is considered. We outline a construction where the axes of rotational symmetry of the dish lie on the axes of rotational symmetry of a large circular solenoid. Its magnetic field produces a stabilizing pressure by acting on a distribution of dipole moment on the dish. In cosmic regions where the gravity gradient is smaller than the solar radiation pressure, large receiver apertures and large area-to-mass ratios of the dish are attainable. The latter might lead to a higher shape accuracy of the reflecting surface compared to the truss frame stabilization. We calculate the distribution of dipole moment that gives a parabolic surface in the approximation of no dish elasticity and no magnetic dish-dish interaction. A disadvantage is the relative large mass of the solenoid. However, we find that it can be about three times smaller in diameter than the dish.  相似文献

We examine the idea of accelerating a space ship, carrying a magnetic dipole moment, in a long inhomogeneous magnetic field. It is shown that it is technically possible to impart a mass of 10 tons a speed greater than the escape velocity of the solar system. We consider the flow of energy and give a rough calculation of the main parameters of the launching device. The device can be used continually and can decelerate a spacecraft with dipole moment equally well.  相似文献

We describe the motion of a material point that is attracted by a tall, homogeneous cylinder. The cylinder moves on a circular orbit and points in the radial direction. The finite solution can be expanded in powers of two small parameters: the initial eccentricity of the orbital motion about the cylinder and the coupling parameter of the Coriolis force. Such expansions are given for the case of the indifferent longitudinal location. Solutions periodic in the polar angle are constructed. We do not find resonance effects or other large cumulative amplitude variations that might be due to the gravity-gradient and Coriolis force.  相似文献

A toroidal solenoid in orbit can represent a magnetic trap for bodies carrying dipole moment. We find the dependence of the trap dimensions on the electrical parameters and the orbit height. There is no trap if the solenoid radius exceeds a certain value. Various trap dimensions are calculated for a non-spinning space station in Earth or Sun orbit. The trap dimension is nearly independent of the solenoid orientation so that the solenoid may be fastened to the station rigidly. If the solenoid radius is in the range of some meters, the trap dimension is one order of magnitude greater for a distant Earth orbit and two orders of magnitude for an orbit around the Sun at distances of the order of one AU. The calculations are performed for a non-superconducting solenoid. The trap can be used for simplifying the docking on of maintenance vehicles or building modules, as safety mechanism for crewmembers working in outer space, and for the collection of paramagnetic or ferromagnetic dust stopped by mechanical means.  相似文献

The liquid helium cooled 50 cm-IR-telescope is equipped with a 4-band-camera, a photopolarimeter, a grating spectrometer and a Michelson interferometer. These focal plane instruments allow measurements with high spectral resolution, high sensitivity and diffraction limited spatial resolution in the wavelength region 2.5 … 200 μm. - The “thermal model” phase of the project was successfully completed in 1983. This phase included the development and construction of a full size cryostat, which was thoroughly tested by an experiment simulator. Prototypes of all focal plane instruments have been developed and severral have already been tested under the expected flight conditions. - At present the “flight model” phase to be entered in 1984 is being prepared. The first Spacelab flight of the reusable IR observatory is planned for 1988. It will include measurements in astrophysics, atmospheric science and helium II physics.  相似文献

We consider a space elevator system for lunar surface access that consists of a space station in circumlunar orbit, a cable reaching down to some meters above the surface and a magnetically levitated vehicle driven by a linear motor. It accelerates the load to be lifted to the speed of the cable end. Loads to be delivered are either put on the vehicle and slowed down by it or they are slowed down by a sand braking technique in a mare terrain. It is technically possible to operate this transport system nearly without fuel supply from Earth. We calculate various steel cable dimensions for a static stress maximum of 15th of the tensile strength. The process of takeover is considered in detail. Five ways of eliminating the adverse large cable elongation due to the load are described. The touchdown process and behaviour of the cable after disconnection are analysed. The positive difference between the speed of the load at takeover and cable end can excite a large inplane swing motion. We propose to damp it by a dissipative pulley that hangs in a loop of wire leading to the ends of two beams mounted on the space station tangentially to the orbit, the pulley's core being connected with the load. Roll librations are damped by energy losses in the elastic beams; damping can be reinforced by viscous beam elements and/or controlled out-of-plane motions of the beams. We argue in favour of the possibility of fast deployment. The problems of vehicle vibrations and agglutination at sand braking blades are underlined and their combined experimental investigation is suggested.  相似文献

GIRL is a liquid helium cooled 50 cm telescope equipped with four focal plane instruments dedicated to astronomical and aeronomical observations. These instruments, a detector array, a photopolarimeter, an Ebert-Fastie-spectrometer and a Michelson-interferometer make up an “infrared observatory” having high sensitivity and high spectral and spatial resolution. Si:Ga-, Si:Sb-, Si:As-, Si:P-, Ge:Be-, Ge:Cu- and Ge:Ga-detectors with NEP-values as low as 3 10?17 W Hz?12 have been tested and will be used to cover the wavelength range 3…120 μm. A full size “thermal model” of the GIRL cryostat containing 300 1 of superfluid helium at 1.6 K has been tested at the industrial prime contractor MBB; results of these tests will be presented in a following paper by F. Dahl et al. Several new techniques for cold telescopes are used in GIRL, for instance a glass ceramics primary mirror, a low power chopping secondary and an active helium phase separator. The scientific objectives include studies of star formation regions and active galaxies as well as measurements of spurious gases in the earth atmosphere. GIRL will be pointed by the Instrument Pointing System (IPS) and is scheduled to fly on Spacelab in 1986/87.  相似文献

We examine the motion of a superconducting dipole in the field of a large flat solenoid. It is found that energymass ratios of about 1 MJ per kilogramme of dipole can be reached for an effective current density of about 400 A/mm2 in the dipole if the diameter of the dipole and solenoid are of the order of 6 and 30 m, respectively. The values will be less critical if the dipole passes the field of two solenoids. We propose a mechanical lever-rope method for stabilization of the dipole axis and determine the deflection of the dipole's path from the vertical under small perturbations of the initial co-ordinates.  相似文献
