Non-linear amplification of a monochromatic VLF transmission in the magnetosphere produces an output fluctuating in amplitude and phase, and so is not monochromatic. This output can usually be resolved into two waves: one similar to the input, but stronger, and a higher frequency sideband or “embryo emission”. The established theory is outlined as far as it goes. 相似文献

The Conference was called to bring together investigators of magnetospheric plasma waves having frequencies from VLF whistlers and emissions down through ELF and ULF to Pc5 long period pulsations. The emphasis was on the physics and techniques underlying the entire frequency range. Topics included wave electron interactions and electron precipitation, ray tracing and other methods to track down sources of VLF and ULF waves, VLF-ULF relationships, heavy ion effects in ULF propagation, and long period ULF waves. 相似文献

The ionospheric HEATING facility near Tromsø, Norway, has recently been used to modulate the ionospheric temperature and thus conductivity at frequencies from 200 to 6000 Hz during times of moderate electrojet current. Analysis of the received VLF signals shows generation down to the lowest frequency (200 Hz). 相似文献
