Problems of application of face gasodynamic seals in aircraft engines

Problems arising in introduction of gasodynamic seals in aircraft engines are considered. The operation of a face gasodynamic seal as part of a natural gas pump is analyzed and its efficiency in the presence of oil is shown.     

Efficiency Estimation of Electrothermal Thrusters Use in the Control System of the Technological Spacecraft Motion

The influence of various control systems of the orbital motion of a technological spacecraft on the level of microacceleration of its internal environment is simulated. Conclusions are drawn about the effectiveness of control systems with different actuators for realization of certain gravitationally sensitive processes onboard a spacecraft.     

Spatial vibration protection in a turbopump of hydrogen rocket engines

We discuss the use of multilayered annular-plate dampers as rotor supports in turbopumps of the RD-0120 and RD-0146 rocket engines. We present a technique of calculating the elastic and damping characteristics of multilayer corrugated annular supports in the case of the conical precession of the rotor.     

Probabilistic estimation of fulfilling favorable conditions to realize the gravity-sensitive processes aboard a space laboratory

We consider a probabilistic estimation of microaccelerations being produced in the inboard environment of an orbital laboratory as a random process; based on this estimation we analyzed a probability of fulfilling the favorable conditions to realize gravity-sensitive processes. The approach suggested can be applied when designing a space laboratory to meet the requirements for the microaccelerations inside the working zone of technological equipment.     

On application of the theory of face seals with microgrooves to high-speed FV engine rotors

With allowance made for thermoelasticity of working surfaces and inertia forces on the lubricant coat, a hydrodynamic problem is solved for the noncontacting face seals with microgrooves in the high-speed rotors of FV engines. Also shown are the initiation of surface waviness in the zone of lubricant coat fracture and the influence of its amplitude upon the seal characteristics.     

The problem of estimating microaccelerations aboard Foton-M4 spacecraft

The paper considers the special features of estimating microaccelerations aboard the Foton-M no. 4 spacecraft, which are connected with the decision on cancelling the spacecraft injection from the reference orbit into the operating one.     

Theory of an annular corrugated damper in the vibrator precession motion

The theory for calculating elastodamping characteristics of multilayer corrugated dampers being used in the rotor supports of aircraft gas turbine engines (GTEs), turbo-pump assemblies of rocket engines as well as in different articles of machine building industry is presented.     

Efficiency analysis of heat pipes with isotropic-structure wicks made of the MR material

A technique for calculating heat transfer characteristics of heat pipes equipped with isotropic-structure wicks made of the MR material is proposed and the investigation results are presented.     

Gas turbine engine disk risk assessment at the design stage taking into account random failures

In this paper, a technique for estimating the failure rate for GTE disks, taking into account the random failures, is presented. According to this technique, we analyzed the effect of tolerances for geometrical sizes, rotation frequency and disk material density on the failure rate.
