Starting with nearby galaxy clusters like Virgo and Coma, and continuing out to the furthest galaxy clusters for which ISO
results have yet been published (z = 0.56), we discuss the development of knowledge of the infrared and associated physical properties of galaxy clusters from
early IRAS observations, through the “ISO-era” to the present, in order to explore the status of ISO's contribution to this
field. Relevant IRAS and ISO programmes are reviewed, addressing both the cluster galaxies and the still-very-limited evidence
for an infrared-emitting intra-cluster medium.
ISO made important advances in knowledge of both nearby and distant galaxy clusters, such as the discovery of a major cold
dust component in Virgo and Coma cluster galaxies, the elaboration of the correlation between dust emission and Hubble-type,
and the detection of numerous Luminous Infrared Galaxies (LIRGs) in several distant clusters. These and consequent achievements
are underlined and described.
We recall that, due to observing time constraints, ISO's coverage of higher-redshift galaxy clusters to the depths required
to detect and study statistically significant samples of cluster galaxies over a range of morphological types could not be
comprehensive and systematic, and such systematic coverage of distant clusters will be an important achievement of the Spitzer
Observatory.

A study on reconfiguration manoevres applied to a tetrahedral formation in highly elliptical orbits is proposed, by using a propellantless solution. The manoeuvring strategy consists in exploiting certain environmental forces, specifically those provided by solar radiation pressure and atmospheric drag, by actively controlling the satellites’ attitudes. Through inverse dynamics particle swarm optimization the optimal attitudes required for the manoeuvres are evaluated, whereas the configuration’s evolution is simulated by a high-fidelity orbital simulator. The goal of the reconfiguration problem is to find an optimal control in order for the four spacecraft to reach a desired configuration in a specified portion of orbit, where the desired configuration is evaluated by a shape and size geometric parameter. By increasing the manoeuvring time and the satellites’ area to mass ratio, all the case studies considered are successfully verified. 相似文献

Observations of pre-main sequence objects (T Tauri, Herbig Ae/Be and FU Orionis stars) obtained with the instrumentation on
board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) are reviewed. All the observations have been mainly carried out by using the two
spectrographs SWS and LWS, adopting their low resolution modes and such data have been used both for lines detection and to
reconstruct the spectral energy distributions. Line emission and photometric behaviour of pre-main sequence objects have been
analyzed in the framework of the current models, discussing the agreement (or disagreement) with them and trying to derive
the questions which should be answered by the forthcoming FIR instrumentation.

The development of fast and reliable optimization algorithms is required in order to obtain real-time optimal trajectory on-board spacecraft. In addition, the wide spread of small satellites, due to their low costs, is leading to a greater number of satellite formations in space. This paper presents an Improved version of the Magnetic Charged System Search (IMCSS) metaheuristic algorithm to compute time-suboptimal manoeuvres for satellite formation flying. The proposed algorithm exploits some strategies aimed at improving the convergence to the optimum, such as the chaotic local search and the boundary handling technique, and it is able to self-tune its internal parameters and coefficients. Moreover, the inverse dynamics technique and the differential flatness approach, through the B-splines curves, are used to approximate the trajectory. The optimization procedure is applied to the circular J2 relative model developed by Schweighart and Sedwick and to the elliptical relative motion model developed by Yamanaka and Ankersen. The results of this paper show that the convergence is better achieved by using the proposed tools, thus proving the efficiency and reliability of the algorithm in solving some space engineering problems. 相似文献

This article summarizes the activities in preparation of a microgravity experiment to be carried out by using a small technological payload onboard a microsatellite developed by the Italian Space Agency. A dedicated hardware will be developed to investigate innovative heat pipes filled with self-rewetting fluids, i.e. dilute aqueous alcoholic solutions with unique surface tension properties. After a general introduction of the scientific background, the paper is focused on the main activities in preparation of the flight experiment, on the design of the flight hardware and on the experimental planned procedure. The laboratory results achieved on ground in preparation of a flight experiment are also presented, including measurements of fluids physical properties and preliminary heat pipes performances characterization test. From the engineering point of view, the activities dealing with heat pipes filling and sealing are included. The activities for heat pipe characterization conclude the paper. 相似文献

The aim of this paper is to explore the capabilities of a solar electric propelled spacecraft on a mission towards circumsolar space. Using an indirect approach, the paper investigates minimum time of transfer (direct) trajectories from an initial heliocentric parking orbit to a desired final heliocentric target orbit, with a low perihelion radius and a high orbital inclination. The simulation results are then collected into graphs and tables for a trade-off analysis of the main mission parameters. Finally, a comparison of the performance between a solar electric and a (photonic) solar sail based spacecraft is discussed. 相似文献

A method is presented for automatic detection of spread-F. The method is based on an image recognition technique and is applied to ionograms recorded at the ionospheric station of Tucumán (26.9°S, 294.6°E). The performance achieved is statistically evaluated and demonstrated with significant examples. The proposed method improves Autoscala's ability to reject ionograms with insufficient information, including those featuring Spread-F. Automatic identification of cases of spread-F is of additional interest in Space Weather applications, when it helps detect degraded radio propagation conditions. The present data analysis is a retrospective study but forms the basis for real-time application as an extension of Autoscala’s capabilities. 相似文献
