基于语料库的高职英语专业一、二年级学生写作能力的分析

以南通纺织职业技术学院英语专业一年级和二年级的一篇作文为素材建立小型语料库,比较两个年级学生的写作能力.使用了Wordsmith软件的单词列表、检索、主题词功能对作文进行分析,从而得出结论:二年级的表达能力超过了一年级,而一年级体现出了更丰富的想象力.探究原因,差异的出现与大学英语写作教学有关,从而对大学英语写作教学起到了两方面的启示作用.     

Student and Teacher Attitudes towards the Role of the Mother Tongue in English Class: Report of a Questionnaire Study

This article presents the results of a questionnaire study on the role of the mother tongue in English class. The participants were 50 students and 10 teachers. The goal of the study was to investigate (1) the attitudes of both teachers and students towards the use of Chinese; (2) the actual and potential function of Chinese in English class. Spatial Thinking in Undergraduate Science Education

Spatial thinking is central to many scientific domains and professions spatial ability predicts success and participation in science. However spatial thinking is not is not emphasized in our educational system. This paper presents a selective review of four types of studies regarding spatial thinking in undergraduate science curricula; (1) correlational studies examining the relations between measures of spatial ability and performance in science disciplines, (2) studies that attempt to train aspects of spatial thinking, (3) studies of how students understand specific spatial representations in sciences (4) studies that use dynamic spatial representations to promote scientific understanding. For each type of study, the evidence is critically evaluated and conclusions are drawn about how to nurture spatial thinking in science.
