In Part I of this review, the concepts of solar vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) observations were outlined together with a discussion of the space instrumentation used for the investigations. A section on spectroradiometry provided some quantitative results on the solar VUV radiation without considering any details of the solar phenomena leading to the radiation. Here, in Part II, we present solar VUV observations over the last decades and their interpretations in terms of the plasma processes and the parameters of the solar atmosphere, with emphasis on the spatial and thermal structures of the chromosphere, transition region and corona of the quiet Sun. In addition, observations of active regions, solar flares and prominences are included as well as of small-scale events. Special sections are devoted to the elemental composition of the solar atmosphere and theoretical considerations on the heating of the corona and the generation of the solar wind.  相似文献

A thermal network model is developed for studying the temperature variation of complicated structure satellite surfaces. The solar incident areas, the infrared and solar radiation transfer coefficients among surfaces are numerically simulated by means of Monte Carlo ray tracing (MCRT) method in model. The non-uniformity and the instability of solar radiation, which plays the important roles in simulating outer-space heat flux designation parameters by solar simulator, are studied for analysis variation of antenna temperature fields in detail. Results showed non-uniformity irradiation effects are greater than those of instability for this kind of geometry sheltering structure.  相似文献

Solar energetic particles pose one of the most serious hazards to space probes, satellites and astronauts. The most intense and largest solar energetic particle events are closely associated with fast coronal mass ejections able to drive interplanetary shock waves as they propagate through interplanetary space. The simulation of these particle events requires knowledge of how particles and shocks propagate through the interplanetary medium, and how shocks accelerate and inject particles into interplanetary space. Several models have appeared in the literature that attempt to model these energetic particle events. Each model presents its own simplifying assumptions in order to tackle the series of complex phenomena occurring during the development of such events. The accuracy of these models depends upon the approximations used to describe the physical processes involved in the events. We review the current models used to describe gradual solar energetic particle events, their advances and shortcomings, and their possible applications to space weather forecasting.  相似文献

Even if Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) remains the fundamental technique for geocenter monitoring, DORIS can also determine this geophysical parameter. Gobinddass et al. (2009) found that part of the systematic errors at 118 days and 1 year can be significantly reduced by rescaling the current solar radiation pressure models using satellite-dependent empirical models. Here we extend this study to all DORIS satellites and propose a complete set of empirical solar radiation parameter coefficients. A specific problem related to SPOT-5 solar panel realignment is also detected and explained. New DORIS geocenter solutions now show a much better agreement in amplitude with independent SLR solutions and with recent geophysical models. Finally, the impact of this refined DORIS data strategy is discussed in terms of Z-geocenter monitoring as well as for other geodetic products (altitude of high latitude station such as Thule in Greenland) and Precise Orbit Determination. After reprocessing the full 1993.0-2008.0 DORIS data set, we confirm that the proposed strategy allows a significant reduction of systematic errors at periods of 118 days and 1 year (up to 20 mm), especially for the most recent data after 2002.5, when more DORIS satellites are available for geodetic purposes.  相似文献

Cosmic Study Group SG 3.19/1.10 was established in February 2013 under the aegis of the International Academy of Astronautics to consider and compare the dose limits adopted by various space agencies for astronauts in Low Earth Orbit. A preliminary definition of the limits that might later be adopted by crews exploring Beyond Low Earth Orbit was, in addition, to be made. The present paper presents preliminary results of the study reported at a Symposium held in Turin by the Academy in July 2013. First, an account is provided of exposure limits assigned by various partner space agencies to those of their astronauts that work aboard the International Space Station. Then, gaps in the scientific and technical information required to safely implement human missions beyond the shielding provided by the geomagnetic field (to the Moon, Mars and beyond) are identified. Among many recommendations for actions to mitigate the health risks potentially posed to personnel Beyond Low Earth Orbit is the development of a preliminary concept for a Human Space Awareness System to: provide for crewed missions the means of prompt onboard detection of the ambient arrival of hazardous particles; develop a strategy for the implementation of onboard responses to hazardous radiation levels; support modeling/model validation that would enable reliable predictions to be made of the arrival of hazardous radiation at a distant spacecraft; provide for the timely transmission of particle alerts to a distant crewed vehicle at an emergency frequency using suitably located support spacecraft. Implementation of the various recommendations of the study can be realized based on a two pronged strategy whereby Space Agencies/Space Companies/Private Entrepreneurial Organizations etc. address the mastering of required key technologies (e.g. fast transportation; customized spacecraft design) while the International Academy of Astronautics, in a role of handling global international co-operation, organizes complementary studies aimed at harnessing the strengths and facilities of emerging nations in investigating/solving related problems (e.g. advanced space radiation modeling/model validation; predicting the arrivals of Solar Energetic Particles and shocks at a distant spacecraft). Ongoing progress in pursuing these complementary parallel programs could be jointly reviewed bi-annually by the Space Agencies and the International Academy of Astronautics so as to maintain momentum and direction in globally progressing towards feasible human exploration of interplanetary space.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the statistical analysis of flare events observed by NoRH during 1992–2005 and NoRP during 1994–2005. We give the power law indices for the frequency distribution of peak brightness temperature which is 1.87 ± 0.05 for 17 GHz observation and is 1.64 ± 0.04 for 34 GHz observation. We also present the frequency variation of power law indices for peak flux and total energy of flare for NoRP observation, which is mono-increasing from 1 to 17 GHz.  相似文献

Coronal magnetic field and nonthermal electrons are very important parameters for understanding of the global heliophysical processes. A flare on November 1, 2004 is selected for self-consistent calculations of coronal magnetic field parallel and perpendicular to the line-of-sight, and density of nonthermal electrons from Nobeyama observations. A solar wind parcel evolves as it moves outward, interacting with the solar wind plasma ahead of and behind it and with the interstellar neutrals. This structure varies over a solar cycle as the latitudinal speed profile and current sheet tilt change. We model the evolution of the solar wind with distance, using inner heliosphere data to predict plasma parameters at Voyager. The shocks which pass Voyager 2 often have different structure than expected; changes in the plasma and/or magnetic field do not always occur simultaneously. We use the recent latitudinal alignment of Ulysses and Voyager 2 to determine the solar wind slowdown due to interstellar neutrals at 80 AU and estimate the interstellar neutral density. We use Voyager data to predict the termination shock motion and location as a function of time.  相似文献
