The double-pulsar binary J0737–3039

A recent multibeam pulsar survey of the outer Galactic plane at Parkes has discovered the first-known double-pulsar binary, a very compact double neutron star system in which both stars are observable as radio pulsars. In this review, we briefly describe the discovery and the studies which have been enabled by the unique properties of the system. These range from the most precise confirmation yet of the theory of general relativity, with the possibility of even more new tests and the measurement of second-order post-Newtonian effects, to studies of the magnetospheres and emission properties of the two pulsars. The discovery also results in a significant increase in the expected rate of occurrence of the mergers of double neutron star systems, and hence the rate of detection of such events by the new ground-based gravitational wave detectors.

Wind asymmetries in massive stars

We are in the process of surveying the linear polarization in luminous, early-type stars. We here report on new observations of the B [e] stars S 18 and R 50, and of the Luminous Blue Variables HR Car, R 143, and HD 160529. Together with previously published data, these observations provide clear evidence for the presence of intrinsic polarization in 1 B[e] star (HD 34664) and in 5 LBVs ( Car, P Cyg, R 127, AG Car, and HR Car). The data indicate that anisotropic stellar winds are a common occurrence among massive stars in these particular evolutionary stages. For such stars, mass-loss rates estimated using the assumption of a spherical, homogeneous and stationary outflow may be in error.

热暴露对B/Al复合材料性能的影响

对经300℃、500℃高温热暴露的B／Al（LF6）复合材料的力学性能进行了研究，实验结果表明材料在300℃下热暴露时，性能下降速度较慢，100h后强度保留率约为76％，延伸率保留率为74％。而在500℃下热暴露时，5h以上强度就有明显降低。高温长时间热暴露后复合材料的断裂也从积累型转变为典型的非累积型断裂。通过透射电镜（TEM）及扫描电镜（SEM）对固态热压制造态和主温热暴露的界面状况进行了分析，认为界面反应是造成B／Al复合材料力学性能下降的主要原因。

复合材料锥壳0°铺层的自动铺放成型方法研究

研究了一种基于自动铺带技术的复合材料锥壳0°铺层成型方法：根据锥壳构件尺寸将等宽预浸带数控分切成预定尺寸的直角梯形预浸带片，按特定方式铺放到锥壳表面并使每两片拼成一个等腰梯形单元，多个等腰梯单元形构成锥壳的0°铺层；并针对这种成型方法设计了一种实现锥壳0°铺层自动成型的装置。采用该方法及其设备可以实现锥壳0°铺层的自动化制造，提高成型效率、降低废料率、稳定工艺质量，降低装备制造成本。     

Topological defects and highest energy cosmic and gamma rays

In this paper we review the hypothesis that a substantial part of the cosmic ray flux observed above about 10¹⁹ eV may be produced by decaying or annihilating topological defects left over from phase transitions in the early universe at grand unification energy scales ( 10¹⁶ GeV). Possible signatures of cosmic ray producing defect models are discussed which could be tested experimentally in the near future. We thereby focus on model independent universal spectral properties of the predicted particle fluxes.
