We present near-infrared spectroscopy of the massive X-ray binary 2S 0114+650. These observations covering the spectral range 1.08–2.35 μm span the region where Paschen and Brackett series recombination lines of hydrogen are expected to be seen, namely, Paβ , Brγ and Br 10–17 lines. The absence of any of these lines in emission supports earlier inferences that the optical component in 2S 0114+650 is unlikely to be a Be star but rather a B type supergiant. Near-IR photometry gives J = 8.78, H = 8.53 and K = 7.96; these values show marginal variations from earlier reported measurements. 相似文献

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has developed an indigenous system named Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) or NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation), that consists of 7 satellites and transmits navigation signal in L and S bands. ISRO, for validation of the system, has installed many IGS (IRNSS/GPS/SBAS) receivers scattered over the Indian region. Using preliminary data from two geographically widely separated stations over India, this paper presents the results on studies on parameters of IRNSS signal quality and discusses how these parameters may be used to study the ionospheric behavior over the Indian region. The Genesis mission returned samples of solar wind to Earth in September 2004 for ground-based analyses of solar-wind composition,
particularly for isotope ratios. Substrates, consisting mostly of high-purity semiconductor materials, were exposed to the
solar wind at L1 from December 2001 to April 2004. In addition to a bulk sample of the solar wind, separate samples of coronal
hole (CH), interstream (IS), and coronal mass ejection material were obtained. Although many substrates were broken upon landing
due to the failure to deploy the parachute, a number of results have been obtained, and most of the primary science objectives
will likely be met. These objectives include He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe isotope ratios in the bulk solar wind and in different
solar-wind regimes, and 15N/14N and 18O/17O/16O to high precision. The greatest successes to date have been with the noble gases. Light noble gases from bulk solar wind
and separate solar-wind regime samples have now been analyzed. Helium results show clear evidence of isotopic fractionation
between CH and IS samples, consistent with simplistic Coulomb drag theory predictions of fractionation between the photosphere
and different solar-wind regimes, though fractionation by wave heating is also a possible explanation. Neon results from closed
system stepped etching of bulk metallic glass have revealed the nature of isotopic fractionation as a function of depth, which
in lunar samples have for years deceptively suggested the presence of an additional, energetic component in solar wind trapped
in lunar grains and meteorites. Isotope ratios of the heavy noble gases, nitrogen, and oxygen are in the process of being

In order to stabilize the altitude calculation in an inertial navigation system, an altimeter is commonly used. In a conventional local-level mechanization, this is generally accomplished by correcting the vertical channel integrators with the difference between the inertial system and altimeter indication of vertical position. However, in a space-stable system the procedure is not as clear since a vertical channel is not physically present. Three altitude damping mechanizations for a space-stable inertial navigation system are proposed. The equivalent local-level mechanizations are then found by comparing error propagation equations in a common coordinate frame. 相似文献

The Lambert–Amery System is the largest glacier–ice shelf system in East Antarctica, draining a significant portion of the ice sheet. Variation in ice sheet discharge from Antarctica or Greenland has an impact on the rate of change in global mean sea level; which is a manifestation of climate change. Material Science and Life Science experiments in microgravity both have urgent needs of evaluating the temperature distribution within and on the surface of liquid zones. Non intrusive methods are available which measure the IR radiations emitted by the surface. The thermograph systems have a number of advantages since they supply a thermal picture of the surface with sufficient time, space and temperature accuracy. A computerized system has been designed for data acquisition and elaboration and used for ground experiments; the system can also be used for space experiments with some modifications. Non intrusive measurements of bulk temperature in two dimensional liquid flow fields can be made by means of optical methods which detect variations of the index of refraction. A method is proposed which is able to take with the same optical apparatus shadowgraph. Schlieren and differential interferometers pictures. Mechanisms for the deposition of heat in the lower coronal plasma are discussed, emphasizing recent attempts to reconcile
the fluid and kinetic perspectives. Structures at the MHD scales are believed to act as reservoirs for fluctuation energy,
which in turn drive a nonlinear cascade process. Kinetic processes act at smaller spatial scales and more rapid time scales.
Cascade-driven processes are contrasted with direct cyclotron absorption, and this distinction is echoed in the contrast between
frequency and wavenumber spectra of the fluctuations. Observational constraints are also discussed, along with estimates of
the relative efficiency of cascade and cyclotron processes.
