The purpose of this paper is to present a new methodology for the cost justification of office information systems in engineering environments [1]. The methodology is called the hedonic wage model. It is based on the fact that the allocation of labor resources in an organization tends to conform to certain logical economic criteria. These criteria, along with information on the costs of labor and on how workers spend their time, permit inferences about the organizational values of key activities. The value of an information system can be estimated based on its contribution to the key activities.  相似文献

A broad spectrum of particles and energies has been used in the last years to study the influence of the radiation quality i.e. of the physical parameters of the particle beam on the biological effectiveness ?2?12?. In these measurements a common structure of the functional dependence of the induction probability per particle (cross section) from the linear energy transfer is observed for different biological endpoints. Because of the relevance for space research, we present in this report our data from experiments with iron and nickel particles, in particular. Our experiments were designed to investigate the relationship between the inactivation and chromosome aberration in mammalian cells and the induction of single and double strand breaks in SV40 DNA in respect to the parameters of the track formation like LET and particle energy.  相似文献

The characteristics of a push-pull parallel resonant converter (PPRC) when operated as a DC-DC transformer were investigated theoretically and experimentally. In the DC-DC transformer region, the voltage transfer ratio of the PPRC was found to be practically constant and independent of the input voltage and load. In this mode, all the switching elements operate in the zero voltage switching (ZVS) condition. Another important feature of the proposed DC-DC transformer is the ability to drive it by an arbitrary switching frequency, provided that the latter is lower than the self-oscillating frequency. This permits the synchronization of the converter to a master clock. The analytical expressions for voltage and current stresses, as well as the other key parameters derived, are applied to develop design guidelines for the DC-DC transformer. The proposed topology was tested experimentally on a 100-W unit which was run in the 200-kHz frequency region  相似文献

Precision orbit determination on the TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P) altimeter satellite is now being routinely achieved with sub-5cm radial and sub-15 cm total positioning accuracy using state-of-the-art modeling with precision tracking provided by a combination of: (a) global Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS), or (b) the Global Positioning System (GPS) Constellation which provides pseudo-range and carrier phase observations. The geostationary Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) satellites are providing the operational tracking and communication support for this mission. The TDRSS Doppler data are of high precision (0.3 mm/s nominal noise levels). Unlike other satellite missions supported operationally by TDRSS, T/P has high quality independent tracking which enables absolute orbit accuracy assessments. In addition, the T/P satellite provides extensive geometry for positioning a satellite at geostationary altitude, and thus the TDRSS-T/P data provides an excellent means for determining the TDRS orbits. Arc lengths of 7 and 10 days with varying degrees of T/P spacecraft attitude complexity are studied. Sub-meter T/P total positioning error is achieved when using the TDRSS range-rate data, with radial orbit errors of 10.6 cm and 15.5 cm RMS for the two arcs studied. Current limitations in the TDRSS precision orbit determination capability include mismodeling of numerous TDRSS satellite-specific dynamic and electronic effects, and in the inadequate treatment of the propagation delay and bending arising from the wet troposphere and ionosphere.  相似文献

The problem of calculating an effective contrast for diffused targets in visual scenery is addressed. The effect of local variations of intensity in the vicinity of the target is modeled by considering the distribution of the intensity of the edges. Power source requirements for the Soldier System, which includes all items/equipment worn, consumed, or carried by the soldier in the field for his or her individual use, are discussed. The use of fuel cells, which offer silence and high efficiency, is considered. It is concluded that the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell coupled with a good hydrogen source offers a very attractive power source for the Soldier System and for other portable requirements needing power in the range of 50 to 500 W  相似文献

The development of ideas about the origin of the Moon during the last three decades is reviewed. In the 1950s G. H. Darwin's fission theory was still occasionally mentioned but by the 1960s it had been displaced by the hypothesis of lunar capture. A few scientists favored formation of the Moon from particles in orbit around the growing Earth. Analysis of samples from the Apollo missions did not confirm any of the three theories of lunar origin. Eventually the giant impact theory, proposed by Hartmann and Davis (1974) and by Cameron and Ward (1975), was adopted as the best working hypothesis. But the problem is not yet satisfactorily solved and work continues on other hypotheses such as co-accretion.  相似文献

The gas exchange portion of a phase-separated loop bioreactor was tested with respect to oxygen mass transfer and micromixing in accelerations of 0.01g, 1g, and 2g. A plot of the overall mass transfer coefficient versus gravity indicates the rate of oxygen transfer does not change as a function of acceleration. Also, it was determined that the micromixing did not exhibit significant changes in the various gravitational fields. These observations indicate the loop bioreactor should function independent of acceleration.  相似文献

We report the first detection of Lyman continuum (≈ 600Å) emission from a non-degenerate star. The WFC on-board ROSAT detected emission from β CMa (B1 II–III) which has a very low interstellar column. Both Kurucz LTE line-blanketed and Mihalas NLTE un-blanketed model atmospheres can match the observed count rate within the very considerable absolute calibration errors. We also find very marginal evidence for variability, although not at the dominant period of the known optical pulsations.  相似文献

Levels of adenylate metabolism have been studied in cells of Nicotiana tabacum growing in vitro, and in root apex extracts of Pisum sativum irradiated at the 95-in. isochronous cyclotron U-240, Institute for Nuclear Research, Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Kyiv. Particle beams of accelerated helium ions with energy 9.34 keV/micrometer were used. Replacement and rapid freezing of the irradiated plants samples in liquid nitrogen were carried out with a manipulator and a remote control system. After doses of 5, 20, 50, and 100 Gy of gamma-irradiation, as well as 50 and 100 Gy 4He irradiation, the cellular ATP/ADP ratio increased during early stages of the response. This effect was absent at higher doses and after exposure to sparesly-ionizing radiation, when a rapid decline in the cellular ATP concentration and the ATP/ADP ratio occurred.  相似文献
