We present the resuIts of manned studies in which test subjects were exposed to simulated zero g (water immersion or head-down tilt at -6 degrees) and head-to-feet acceleration. The findings give evidence that humans have different individual tolerances to an acceleration of +3 Gz after exposure to zero g, whether simulated by immersion or by head-down tilt. The paper discusses the role of functional relationship between water balance and cardiac output in the establishment of adaptive reactions to simulated zero g.  相似文献

Scaling laws for possible outer planet magnetospheres are derived. An asymptotic analysis is presented for the ignition of a solid fuel that gasifies endothermically then reacts exothermically in the gas phase through a one-step Arrhenius process. The endothermic gasification was analyzed in an earlier paper; the present paper employs those results in treating the gas-phase reaction. It is shown that depending on values of the chemical parameters, the gas-phase ignition reaction may begin either at the time that gasification begins or during the later stage of transport-controlled gasification. In the former case, results for the gas-phase ignition time are similar to those for condensed-phase ignitions. In the latter case, a mixing layer develops in the gas-phase and moves away from the surface, the exothermic reaction being negligible until thermal runaway occurs somewhere within the mixing layer. Both early-time and late-time ignitions within the mixing layer are analyzed by solving partial differential equations derived from perturbations for large activation energies and a small ratio of gas to solid thermal responsivity. The theory serves to indicate how ignition by gas-phase reactions may be distinguished experimentally from ignition by condensed-phase or heterogenous reactions.  相似文献

The problem of solving the matrix Riccati differential equation in the design of Kalman filters for the target tracking problem is considered. An algebraic transformation method is used to reduce the order of the Riccati differential equation and to obtain explicit expressions for the filter gains (in terms of the interceptor /target separation range) which results in a substantial reduction of the computer burden involved in estimating the target states. The applicability of the transform technique is demonstrated for the receiver thermal noise and the target glint noise cases.  相似文献

The radio astronomy technique of Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) offers significant promise for high accuracy, long distance, three-dimensional surveying of continental plate tectonics and its resultant earth crustal deformations that are intimately related to earthquakes. The methods of VLBI lend themselves to crustal deformation monitoring with possible applications to earthquake prediction on local and global scales. It is proposed to establish a network of independently operated radio receiving stations at arbitrary separations using extragalactic radio sources as a frame of time invariant reference. Systems analysis and initial feasibility demonstrations indicate that calibrations can be developed to make possible a transportable radio interferometry system. Using a 9 m diameter dish antenna operated in combination with a 64 m antenna receiving at X-band wavelengths (4 cm) it will be possible to measure the three-dimensional separation between antennas with a few cm accuracy for baselines up to 1000 km. With simultaneous band reception for charged-particle effect calibration, the transportable antenna can be operated at intercontinental distances with 10 cm accuracy. Earth platform parameters of universal time and polar motion can be calibrated to 0.25 msec and 10 cm, respectively, and radio source positions established to 0.005 arc sec accuracy by reception using large antennas at intercontinental distances.  相似文献

Optimal and suboptimal guidance laws for short-range homing missiles are developed and compared to the commonly mechanized quidance law of proportional navigation. The optimal controller is derived as an optimal feedback regulator; the suboptimal controller is an approximation of the optimal regulator and consists of timevarying proportional navigation plus a time-varying gain term times a calculated target acceleration. Monte Carlo studies of the three controllers show that the optimal and suboptimal controllers are much superior to proportional navigation for the case of combined constant target acceleration, line-of-sight rate noise, and missile acceleration saturation.  相似文献

A new approach to the three-dimensional airborne maneuvering target tracking problem is presented. The method, which combines the correlated acceleration target model of Singer [3] with the adaptive semi-Markov maneuver model of Gholson and Moose [8], leads to a practical real-time tracking algorithm that can be easily implemented on a modern fire-control computer. Preliminary testing with actual radar measurements indicates both improved tracking accuracy and increased filter stability in response to rapid target accelerations in elevation, bearing, and range.  相似文献

We compare the properties of Jupiter with those of radio pulsars and find a number of parallels insofar as the magnetic field, energization, and radio emission properties (pulsed, coherent, and microstructured), as well as a number of important presumed differences such as the Io modulation. Digitally coded radar waveforms can be used to obtain large time-bandwidth products (pulse compression ratios). It is demonstrated that periodic radar waveforms with zero sidelobes or almost zero sidelobes can be defined. A perfect periodic code is a periodic code whose autocorrelation function has zero sidelobes and whose amplitude is uniform (maximum power efficiency=1). An asymptotically perfect periodic code has the property that as the number of elements in the code goes to infinity the autocorrelation function of the code has zero sidelobes and its power efficiency is one. The authors introduce a class of radar waveforms that are either perfect or asymptotically perfect codes. These are called reciprocal codes because they can be derived through a linear transformation of known codes. The aperiodic performance of the reciprocal code is examined  相似文献
