A review of achievements in the investigation of the planar periodic oscillations and rotations of a satellite around its center of mass, which moves along an elliptic orbit in the central gravitational field, is presented. These oscillations and rotations of the satellite are described by an ordinary differential equation (Beletsky equation) of the second order with periodic coefficients and two parameters. The equation is equivalent to a periodic Hamiltonian system with a single degree of freedom and has a singularity. It turned out that two-parameter families of the generalized periodic solutions to this simple equation form complicated structures of a new type. A comparison of numerous separate results made it possible to outline a sufficiently unified and complete picture of the location and structure of the families of generalized 2-periodic solutions with an integer number of rotation. These families are compared with known data related to the resonance rotations of the natural satellites in the solar system.  相似文献

Both heliophysics and planetary physics seek to understand the complex nature of the solar wind’s interaction with solar system obstacles like Earth’s magnetosphere, the ionospheres of Venus and Mars, and comets. Studies with this objective are frequently conducted with the help of single or multipoint in situ electromagnetic field and particle observations, guided by the predictions of both local and global numerical simulations, and placed in context by observations from far and extreme ultraviolet (FUV, EUV), hard X-ray, and energetic neutral atom imagers (ENA). Each proposed interaction mechanism (e.g., steady or transient magnetic reconnection, local or global magnetic reconnection, ion pick-up, or the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability) generates diagnostic plasma density structures. The significance of each mechanism to the overall interaction (as measured in terms of atmospheric/ionospheric loss at comets, Venus, and Mars or global magnetospheric/ionospheric convection at Earth) remains to be determined but can be evaluated on the basis of how often the density signatures that it generates are observed as a function of solar wind conditions. This paper reviews efforts to image the diagnostic plasma density structures in the soft (low energy, 0.1–2.0 keV) X-rays produced when high charge state solar wind ions exchange electrons with the exospheric neutrals surrounding solar system obstacles. The introduction notes that theory, local, and global simulations predict the characteristics of plasma boundaries such the bow shock and magnetopause (including location, density gradient, and motion) and regions such as the magnetosheath (including density and width) as a function of location, solar wind conditions, and the particular mechanism operating. In situ measurements confirm the existence of time- and spatial-dependent plasma density structures like the bow shock, magnetosheath, and magnetopause/ionopause at Venus, Mars, comets, and the Earth. However, in situ measurements rarely suffice to determine the global extent of these density structures or their global variation as a function of solar wind conditions, except in the form of empirical studies based on observations from many different times and solar wind conditions. Remote sensing observations provide global information about auroral ovals (FUV and hard X-ray), the terrestrial plasmasphere (EUV), and the terrestrial ring current (ENA). ENA instruments with low energy thresholds ((sim1~mbox{keV})) have recently been used to obtain important information concerning the magnetosheaths of Venus, Mars, and the Earth. Recent technological developments make these magnetosheaths valuable potential targets for high-cadence wide-field-of-view soft X-ray imagers.Section 2 describes proposed dayside interaction mechanisms, including reconnection, the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, and other processes in greater detail with an emphasis on the plasma density structures that they generate. It focuses upon the questions that remain as yet unanswered, such as the significance of each proposed interaction mode, which can be determined from its occurrence pattern as a function of location and solar wind conditions. Section 3 outlines the physics underlying the charge exchange generation of soft X-rays. Section 4 lists the background sources (helium focusing cone, planetary, and cosmic) of soft X-rays from which the charge exchange emissions generated by solar wind exchange must be distinguished. With the help of simulations employing state-of-the-art magnetohydrodynamic models for the solar wind-magnetosphere interaction, models for Earth’s exosphere, and knowledge concerning these background emissions, Sect. 5 demonstrates that boundaries and regions such as the bow shock, magnetosheath, magnetopause, and cusps can readily be identified in images of charge exchange emissions. Section 6 reviews observations by (generally narrow) field of view (FOV) astrophysical telescopes that confirm the presence of these emissions at the intensities predicted by the simulations. Section 7 describes the design of a notional wide FOV “lobster-eye” telescope capable of imaging the global interactions and shows how it might be used to extract information concerning the global interaction of the solar wind with solar system obstacles. The conclusion outlines prospects for missions employing such wide FOV imagers.  相似文献

Active region NOAA 11158 produced many flares during its disk passage. At least two of these flares can be considered as homologous: the C6.6 flare at 06:51 UT and C9.4 flare at 12:41 UT on February 14, 2011. Both flares occurred at the same location (eastern edge of the active region) and have a similar decay of the GOES soft X-ray light curve. The associated coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were slow (334 and 337 km/s) and of similar apparent widths (43° and 44°), but they had different radio signatures. The second event was associated with a metric type II burst while the first one was not. The COR1 coronagraphs on board the STEREO spacecraft clearly show that the second CME propagated into the preceding CME that occurred 50 min before. These observations suggest that CME–CME interaction might be a key process in exciting the type II radio emission by slow CMEs.  相似文献

The Spacelab-Mir-1 (SLM-1) mission is the first docking of the Space Shuttle Atlantis (STS-71) with the Orbital Station Mir in June 1995. The SLM-1 "Greenhouse-2" experiment will utilize the Russian-Bulgarian-developed plant growth unit (Svet). "Greenhouse-2" will include two plantings (1) designed to test the capability of Svet to grow a crop of Superdwarf wheat from seed to seed, and (2) to provide green plant material for post-flight analysis. Protocols, procedures, and equipment for the experiment have been developed by the US-Russian science team. "Greenhouse-2" will also provide the first orbital test of a new Svet Instrumentation System (SIS) developed by Utah State University to provide near real time data on plant environmental parameters and gas-exchange rates. SIS supplements the Svet control and monitoring system with additional sensors for substrate moisture, air temperature, IR leaf temperature, light, oxygen, pressure, humidity, and carbon-dioxide. SIS provides the capability to monitor canopy transpiration and net assimilation of the plants growing in each vegetation unit (root zone) by enclosing the canopy in separate, retractable, ventilated leaf chambers. Six times during the seed-to-seed experiment, plant samples will be collected, leaf area measured, and plant parts fixed and/or dried for ground analysis. A second planting initiated 30 days before the arrival of a U.S. Shuttle [originally planned to be STS-71] is designed to provide green material at the vegetative development stage for ground analysis. [As this paper is being edited, the experiment has been delayed until after the arrival of STS-71.]  相似文献

This correspondence describes a unique digital Doppler ambiguity resolution technique for a pulsed S-band radar. Whereas conventional methods of resolving ambiguities employ various curve fitting schemes in which the best differentiated range curve fit is compared with the Doppler derived velocity, the method described here uses the opposite approach, i.e., the Doppler derived velocity is integrated and compared with the range change over the integrating interval. The integrating approach offers the following advantages over conventional curve fitting. 1) There are no lag errors due to velocity changes, other than tracker lag induced by jerk. 2) No large storage of past data points and their weighting Constants must be implemented.  相似文献

The Qattara Depression lies in the northern part of the Western Desert of Egypt at a distance of some tens of kilometers to the south of the Mediterranean Sea Coast. The depression in question is the largest one in the great Sahara extending across North Africa. It covers an area of some 19,000 km2 at ? 60 m level and the absolute level of its lowest point is about ? 134 m. The depression extends for about 300 km in a roughly ENE-WSW direction, while its width is variable reaching to a maximum of about 145 km. Feasibility studies are currently carried out for the Qattara solar-hydro-electric project which aims at generating hydro-electric power by the drop of the Mediterranean Sea water into the depression after passing through a canal/tunnel system. Peak load electric power may be also generated by raising the water to the small hollow of Deir Kirayim, situated at a higher level near the depression, and allowing it to drop to a low level. For the purpose of assessing the regional criteria involved in the implementation of the project and the environmental impact of such implementation, the Qattara Depression and the surrounding area has been studied on a regional scale by the utilization of LANDSAT satellite imagery. The maps produced by the interpretation of the images in question include those of the geological and environmental units, structural lineations, drainage and vegetation cover. Lineation density and drainage density maps are derived by the computation of the structural lineation and drainage maps respectively. A map of groundwater conditions is worked out on the basis of the image interpretation, and the observations previously carried out on the groundwater aquifers in the Qattara Depression and the surrounding area. LANDSAT satellite image interpretation and computation are supported by intensive observations carried out in the field as well as chemical, petrological and mineralogical analyses of the samples collected. The LANDSAT satellite images proved to be of great importance in mapping the Qattara Depression floor which is hardly accessible to classical mapping, and especially in view of the large area which could be covered by imagery mapping in a reasonably short time compatible with the duration of the feasibility study. The special characters of the spaceborne multispectral imagery have been paramount in deciphering the major regional features of the investigated area. The overall synoptic picture of the regional setting of the geological and environmental units, faults, fractures and folds, drainage lines and plant cover in the large area studied has been clarified for the first time. It has been demonstrated that the Qattara Depression is actually constituted of several small depressions. The environmental impact of the project implementation has been visualized especially regarding the possible influence of the saline water on the fresh groundwater sources. The thick salt accumulation in the depression has been found to be of such extension as to increase the salinity of the Mediterranean Sea water stored in the depression following the implementation of the project. The lineation density map has been particularly of great help in the localization of sites subjected to intense crustal deformation, greater slope instability and run off surface water flooding.  相似文献

A relatively simple method is presented which eliminates previously reported (Oct. 1985) erratic estimation performance associated with Cartesian formulations of the extended Kalman filter (EKF) for the 2D angle-only emitter location problem. The technique is based on an initialization procedure which combines a priori probability density function (pdf) information with single measurement a posteriori pdf information in a manner which is more efficient than the EKF. Simulation results are presented which demonstrate the utility of the technique as compared with a previously offered modified gain EKF  相似文献

A problem of modeling the incompressible viscous flow between two disks taking into account the rotation of one of them is considered. We study the effect of the disk angular velocity (flow regimes) in the interdisk spacing, finiteness (infiniteness) of disk radiuses, calculation region configuration as well as distances between disks on the flow characteristics, particularly, on the resistance moment coefficient. Numerical simulation is performed with the aid of Maple and ANSYS Fluent software.  相似文献

A constant-frequency diode-clamped series resonant converter (CFCSRC) is proposed as a solution to problems associated with frequency-controlled resonant converters. This converter has two resonant frequencies, and control is achieved by varying the relative time spent at each switching frequency. Two zero-current-switching (ZCS) modes are examined and plotted in the output plane. An equation is given for the boundary between the two ZCS modes, as well as an expression for the boundary between ZCS and non-ZCS operation; both are plotted in the output plane. The output equation for the main mode is shown to be hyperbolic. Converter peak voltages limited to the input voltages, and peak currents are less than those of the frequency-controlled clamped series resonant converter over a large operating range. Data from a prototype converter are compared with theoretical data and are shown to be in good agreement with the theoretical model  相似文献

Two bed rest analog studies of space flight were performed; one 14 d and the other 28 d in duration. Exercise response was studied in detail during the 28 d study and following both the 14 d and 28 d studies. This paper relates the results of these studies to physiologic changes noted during and following space flight. The most consistent change noted after both bed rest and space flight is an elevated heart rate during exercise. A second consistent finding is a postflight or postbed rest reduction in cardiac stroke volume. Cardiac output changes were variable. The inability to simulate inflight activity levels and personal exercise makes a direct comparison between bed rest and the results from specific space flights difficult.  相似文献
