Spectroscopic observations were performed of the early-type contact binary AW Lac with an image-intensified coude spectrograph of 1.9-m telescope at the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. A total of twenty-two spectra covering blue region with a dispersion of 16 Amm-1 have been secured on Kodak IIa-O baked plates. In every spectra sharp interstellar CaII H,K lines are clearly seen. The spectral type of AW Lac has been estimated as early B, which substantially confirms the one adopted in the photometric analysis by Jiang et al. (1983) and is diffrent from A0 listed in General Catalogue of Variable Stars (Kholopov et al. 1985). Contrary to the suggestion by the photometric solution of Jiang et al., no definite secondary lines could be separated, though some indications of light contamination due to the secondary component are surely observed. This would imply that the light ratio of the components should be somewhat smaller than that derived by photometric analysis. No emission features appeared either. The measurement of radial velocities of the primary component for the orbital elements was made for twenty spectra by a conventional method. It was difficult to measure the radial velocities because the lines are quite broadened and deformed. Hence the measured values for the radial velocities should be regarded as rather preliminary. The derived spectroscopic elements, combined with the photometric data, give the absolute dimensions of the system for each assumed mass ratio q. For q = 1, being the adopted photometric solution by Jiang et al., we obtain too small value for the primary's mass, comparing with its spectral type. For the mass ratio as small as q = 0.6, we can obtain a reasonable value for the mass of the primary. However, in order to get more definite conclusion the cross-correlation method would be more appropriate for the spectroscopic analysis of this system.  相似文献

The U.S. Air Force study of the delayed effects of single, total body exposures to simulated space radiation in rhesus monkeys is now in its 21st year. Observations on 301 irradiated and 57 age-matched control animals indicate that life expectancy loss from exposure to protons in the energy range encountered in the Van Allen belts and solar proton events can be expressed as a logarithmic function of the dose. The primary causes of life shortening are cancer and endometriosis (an abnormal proliferation of the lining of the uterus in females). Life shortening estimates permit comparison of the risk associated with space radiation exposures to be compared with that of other occupational and environmental hazards, thereby facilitating risk/benefit decisions in the planning and operational phases of manned space missions. Calculations of the relative risk of fatal cancers in the irradiated subjects reveal that the total body surface dose required to double the risk of death from cancer over a 20-year post exposure period varies with the linear energy transfer (LET) of the radiation. The ability to determine the integrated dose and LET spectrum in space radiation exposures of humans is, therefore, critical to the assessment of lifetime cancer risk.  相似文献

Two maneuvering-target tracking techniques are compared. The first, called input estimation, models the maneuver as constant unknown input, estimates its magnitude and onset time, and then corrects the state estimate accordingly. The second models the maneuver as a switching of the target state model, where the various state models can be of different dimension and driven by process noises of different intensities, and estimates the state according to the interacting multiple model (IMM) algorithm. While the first requires around twenty parallel filters, it is shown that the latter, implemented in the form of the IMM, performs equally well or better with two or three filters  相似文献

An on-board scanning or mosaic sensor is staring down from a satellite to a fixed ground point while producing a set of frames that contain target and background signals. Detecting dim moving targets should ideally be done by exhaustively searching over all in he maery(mached fltering), as ppoed possible trajectories in the imagery (matched filtering) as opposed to assembling trajectories from thresholded frames. The dynamic programming approach equivalently substitutes the above prohibitive exhaustive search by a feasible algorithm.  相似文献

Recent hypervelocity studies have been conducted which simulate the collision of interplanetary dust with rocky planetary satellite surfaces. Preliminary flux-mass distributions of micron and submicron ejecta from these hypervelocity impact studies have been determined. Several models of the flux-mass distribution of primary interplanetary dust are used to determine ratios of satellite surface ejecta and primary meteoroid flux-mass distributions. The results are used in a second model to determine the ejecta spatial mass densities near the surface of the satellite.  相似文献

During 1990–1991 more than two dozens of extragalactic objects were observed by X-ray instruments aboard the Granat satellite. Among them there were AGNs and Seyfert galaxies (NGC4151, NGC5548, MCG-30-15, IC4329 etc.), quasars (3C273, 3C390.3 etc.), radio galaxies (Cen A, M87 etc.) and clusters of galaxies (Virgo, Perseus, Coma etc.). We will discuss below the preliminary results obtained with the ART-P telescope during the observations of five sources: NGC4151, 3C273, Cen A and the galaxies M87 and NGC4388 on the Virgo cluster.  相似文献
