Two-dimensional maps of the Crab Nebula have been synthesized in 22–64 keV range through the modulation collimator experiment. The effective angular resolution is about 15. The result indicates that the Crab morphology is strictly controlled by the pulsar. 相似文献

During a coordinated observations of 2S1636-536 with EXOSAT, Tenma and the 1.4 metre Danish telescope at La Silla, a single burst was detected at all three observatories. The burst was bright with a peak flux of 6 × 10-8
ergs/cm
2
/s and rapid expansion of the blackbody radius. EXOSAT and Tenma agree closely in the values of blackbody radius, temperature and flux which are very similar to the three bursts recently reported by Tenma which appear to reach the Eddington flux limit at their peak. Preliminary analysis of the X-ray and optical timing data reveal that this burst is unusual in having a sharp leading edge in both X-ray and optical data and a very short X-ray-optical delay compared with those previously observed. If confirmed, this result puts significant restraints on the location of the optical reprocessing site. 相似文献

Tasks envisioned for future generation Mars rovers - sample collection, area survey, resource mining, habitat construction, etc. - will require greatly enhanced navigational capabilities over those possessed by the Mars Sojourner rover. Many of these tasks will involve cooperative efforts by multiple rovers and other agents, adding further requirements both for accuracy and commonality between users. This paper presents a new navigation system a "Self-Calibrating Pseudolite Array" (SCPA) that can provide centimeter-level, drift-free localization to multiple rovers within a local area by utilizing GPS-based transceivers deployed in a ground-based array. Such a system of localized beacons can replace or augment a system based on orbiting satellite transmitters, and is capable of fully autonomous operations and calibration. This paper describes the prototype SCPA developed at Stanford to demonstrate these capabilities and then presents results from a set of field trials performed at NASA Ames Research Center. These experiments, which utilize the K9 Mars rover research platform, validate both the navigation and self-calibration capabilities of the system. By carrying an on-board GPS transceiver, K9 was successfully able to calibrate the system using no a priori position information and localized the pseudolite beacons to under 5 cm RMS. 相似文献

‘The Japanese Mars probe, NOZOMI, is staying in the interplanetary space (1–1.5 AU) until its Mars’ orbit insertion scheduled
in early 2004. Every 16 months on this interplanetary orbit the spacecraft crosses around 1 AU the ‘gravitational focusing
cone’ of the interstellar helium, which are penetrating into the inner heliosphere under the solar gravity. During the first
crossing of the cone in the season of March–May 2000, we observed these helium particles after the solar wind pickup process
with an E/q type ion detector aboard NOZOMI. We have estimated the original temperature of the interstellar helium as 11 000 K.
