The unusual event of November 17, 1991 07:04 UT, observed at 2.5 and 2.85 GHz, is analysed. The event reveals the sophisticated superfine time structure including sudden reductions and quasi-periodic pulsations. We shown that the sudden reductions (30–100 ms) can be driven by upward injected 100 keV electron beams filling the losscone of the coronal magnetic trap. The nonlinear oscillations of Langmuir waves provide the best fit for the pulsation observed. A reduced steady-state level of the pulsation phase is connected with quasi-continuous injection of electrons. The physical parameters of the radio source are found for the event.  相似文献

Performance analysis of echolocation systems requires the probability density function (pdf) or survival function of a matched filter output. A method is presented to derive approximations to these functions using a Pade approximation to their associated characteristic function (CF). The method is based on the Hankel transform. It allows computation of detection probabilities when the matched filter responses to clutter and a target are separately known. Several numerical examples are presented  相似文献

We present a brief overview of the probable velocity-shear induced phenomena in solar plasma flows. Shear-driven MHD wave oscillations may be the needed mechanism for the generation of solar Alfvén waves, for the transmission of fast waves through the transition region, and for the acceleration of the solar wind. An approach is presented to realizing a digital channelized receiver for signal intercept applications that provides a hardware efficient implementation of a uniform filter bank in which the number of filters K is greater than the decimation factor M. The proposed architecture allows simple channel arbitration logic to be used and provides reliable instantaneous frequency measurements, even in adjacent channel crossover regions. In the proposed implementation of the filter bank, K is related to M by K=FM where F is an integer. It is shown that the optimum selection of F allows the instantaneous frequency measurement to be made in the channel crossover region and the arbitration function to be based solely on the instantaneous frequency measurement. The development of a filter bank structure which combines the flexibility of the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) with the implementation efficiency of the polyphase filter bank decomposition, meeting these requirements and leading to a hardware-efficient implementation, is presented  相似文献

The Doppler sidelobes of a received pulse burst may be partially controlled by varying the amplitudes of the pulses in the burst or sequence upon transmission and/or reception. When there is a peak power limitation, weighting the amplitudes produces a loss in signal-to-noise ratio. A general expression is derived for the loss factor under the peak power limitation, and loss factor formulas are given for the following cases: Case A: Full nominal weights upon reception. Uniform weights on transmission. Case B: Square roots of the nominal weights on both transmission and reception. Case C: Full nominal weights on both transmission and reception. These cases are listed in order of increasing loss. Numerical results are tabulated for regular spacings and for the following nominal weights: 1) Dolph-Tchebycheff, 2) Taylor, 3) Hamming, and 4) Hann.  相似文献

A new exact, explicit, and computationally efficient solution for three-dimensional (3-D) position estimation based on range measurements from three stations is proposed. The simple polynomial-type form of the new algorithm facilitates the performance analysis. Formulae are provided for both the variance and the bias of the position estimates. The systematic error is a joint effect of both the measurement noise and the system nonlinearity and its magnitude cannot be ignored if highly accurate localization is required. The Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe (ACARE) predicts that European air traffic may nearly triple by 2020. The growth in air traffic is already an increasing problem with capacity at some airports becoming limited due to congestion. This could be alleviated by providing additional passenger capacity at hubs through the introduction of rotorcraft using new IFR procedures and operating simultaneously but independently of the fixed-wing traffic. These Simultaneous Non-Interfering Operations (SNIOps) will be enabled by a ‘reconfiguration’ of the airspace, taking advantage of new navigational and air traffic management systems. SNIOp's raise critical safety questions for rotorcraft wake vortex encounters (WVE's) and will require consideration of the longitudinal and lateral aircraft separation and the locations of the rotorcraft FATO's (Final Approach and Take-Off areas). This paper presents analysis from work carried out as part of the Framework 6 project ‘OPTIMAL’ including the development of predictive methodology and analysis for rotorcraft WVE's, using a severity rating scale. In particular, scenarios are considered where the rotorcraft is following precision glideslopes of up to 12° in both good and degraded visual conditions. Handling qualities criteria have already been found to be well suited to investigating severity of an encounter. Within this framework, draft boundaries are proposed for assessing the severity of an encounter. Furthermore, the results have shown a pilot may be able to recover from an encounter, but the question of whether the required navigational precision would be compromised and a go-around required is also addressed.  相似文献

We model interplanetary H Lyman-α (Lα) observations from Galileo UVS (Ultraviolet Spectrometer) and EUVS (Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer) (Hord et al., 1992) and the Ulysses interstellar neutral gas (GAS) instrument (Witte et al., 1992). EUVS measurements near solar maximum (max) in 1990–1992 have a peaked brightness maximum upwind due to a rather isotropic solar wind charge-exchange ionization pattern (A=0–0.25). GAS measurements from solar minimum (min) in 1997 have a plateau in the upwind direction that we model using Ulysses SWOOPS (solar wind plasma experiment) solar min data on solar wind density and velocity at different heliographic latitudes. The isotropic ionization pattern deduced from EUVS at solar max may be consistent with recent SWOOPS results (McComas et al., 2000b, c) that high speed solar wind is absent at high latitudes during solar max. Galileo and Ulysses Lα data favor higher H temperatures (15 000–18 000 K) than previous models. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
