New generation of infrared horizon scanning sensors for low altitude spacecraft

The STD 12 infrared horizon scanning sensor is designed for attitude control, with respect to Earth, of three-axis stabilized satellites in low altitude Earth orbits. The operational accuracy is better than 0.1 arc degree.After presenting the attitude measurement performance required for the SPOT platform, the STD 12 concept is described and the results of qualification and life tests are given.     

Guided propagation of HF radio waves in the ionosphere

A review is given of the work done in the field of ionospheric guided propagation of HF radio signals from artificial satellites. The possible theoretical approaches to the problem are summarized with more details on the analysis in terms of ray-tracing based on a geometric-optics treatment.A survey is done of the experimental observations performed through satellite transmissions, with particular emphasis on the results obtained through three ad hoc developed experiments: Orbis, S. Marco and OV 4.     

Effect of Random Synchronization Errors in PN and PSK Systems

The effect of a constant synchronization error on PN systems has been studied by Gill [1]. His results are generalized here for random synchronization errors, and extended to PSK systems using decision directed channel measurements [2]. In both cases, it is shown that the effect of random synchronization errors is to reduce the effective input signal power and to introduce an additional self-noise. The effect is minimized when the synchronization error has zero mean and can easily be evaluated in terms of circuit parameters.

含二硝基偶氮氧化呋咱推进剂的能量特性研究

二硝基偶氮氧化呋咱 ( DNAF)是一种新型高能氧化剂。采用最小自由能方法研究了 DNAF的能量特性 ,结果显示 :DNAF单元推进剂比冲 2 692 .72 N· s· kg- 1 ,比黑索今高 75.8N· s· kg- 1 ,比六硝基六氮杂异伍兹烷高 1 9.5N· s· kg- 1 ;HTPB/DNAF/Al组成推进剂的比冲可达 2 81 0 N·s·kg- 1 ;DNAF分别与 GAP和 HTPB组成的无烟推进剂的比冲分别高达 2 763N· s·kg- 1和 2 72 5N·s·kg- 1。并绘制了等性能三角图和三维立体图 ,可形象直观地看出这类推进剂的比冲、燃烧温度与配方组分之间的关系     

基于VXI总线的某型导弹惯性平台自动测试系统

通过对某型导弹惯性平台测试系统现状的分析，提出基于VXI总线建导弹台自动化测试系统的理想设计方案，并对在IEEE－1394环境下用VXI总线标准组建导弹惯性平台自动化测试系统进行了较详细的论述。试验结果表明，该自动化测试系统具有测试速度快，测试精度高的优点，具有在本领域内推广应用的价值。     

Quantified EEG in different G situations

The electrical activity of the brain (EEG) has been recorded during parabolic flights in trained astronauts and non trained volunteers as well. The Fast Fourier analysis of the EEG activity evidenced more asymmetry between the two brain hemispheres in the subjects who suffered from motion sickness than in the others. However, such a FFT classification does not lead to a discrimination between deterministic and stochastic events. Therefore, a first attempt was made to calculate the dimensionality of "chaotic attractors" in the EEG patterns as a function of the different g-epochs of one parabola. Very preliminary results are given here.     

Chromospheric flares or chromospheric aurorae?

This paper discusses some of the well-documented flare phenomena and possible analogies with magnetospheric substorm phenomena. Such analogies do exist, but also important differences. The combination of forces from magnetospheric and solar physicists will bring us closer to the understanding of these nearby examples of unstable cosmic plasmas.
