A short review is given on the history of the peculiar variable object Car and on a number of relevant references describing and discussing its physical characteristics and behaviour, based on different types of observational techniques. The star is known to be variable since the 17th century. The excessive mass loss to which it was subject during the 19th century is now visible as an ellipsoidal reflection nebula of 15 diameter: the so-called homunculus. The remainder of the paper is spent on different kinds of problems partly based on the results of a decade of photometric monitoring in the VBLUW photometric system of Walraven. Foreground reddening and reddening by dust in the homunculus are determined and amount to E(B - V)
J = 0
50 and <
6, respectively. Scanning of the homunculus revealed an estimate for the photometric characteristics of the central object, which presumably consists of a massive hot star surrounded by a cooler gas envelope. The total luminosity is derived using fluxes of various sources in the wavelength region 0.15 < < 175 n resulting in M

The historical observations of the colours of Car and a comparison with the characteristics of S Dor type stars, suggest that Car was subject to a number of S Dor type phases similar to those of P Cyg (in the 17th century), S Dor and others. From October 1982 through May 1983 an extensive weather clutter registration program was executed near the Dutch coast. Coherent echo series of 2 s were obtained from a cluster of adjacent antenna pencil beams every 10 or 15 min., mainly between 16:00 and 08:30 h and on the weekends. The beam cluster was pointed toward the intensity maximum of the clutter volume. The radar operated at 5650 MHz. Spectra with 10 Hz Doppler resolution have been computed by averaging over 19 discrete Fourier transforms of overlapping and tapered subseries of 200 echo vectors. To quantify the deviation from a Gaussian shape a spectral variability is defined which is computed for every estimated spectrum. Since the early 1960's, a rapid advance in signal processing, including filtering and estimation techniques, has been evident. In contrast, applied feedback control, particularly for aircraft, is currently based on technology available prior to 1960, i. e., primarily either constant gain feedback or at most a standard gain-scheduling. In this paper, an adaptive signal processing algorithm is joined with gain-scheduling to produce an effective scheme for controlling the dynamics of high performance aircraft. A technique is presented for a reduced-order model (the longitudinal dynamics) of a high performance short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) aircraft. The actual controller views the nonlinear behavior of the aircraft as being equivalent to a randomly switching sequence of linear models taken from a preliminary piecewise-linear fit of the system nonlinearities. The adaptive nature of the estimator is necessary to select the proper sequence of linear models along the flight trajectory. From the analysis of the reduced-order model the nonlinear behavior has been found to be well approximated by assuming an effective switching of the linear models at random times, the durations of which reflect the motion of the aircraft in response to pilot commands. 相似文献

This review addresses the deep interior structure of Mercury. Mercury is thought to consist of similar chemical reservoirs
(core, mantle, crust) as the other terrestrial planets, but with a relatively much larger core. Constraints on Mercury’s composition
and internal structure are reviewed, and possible interior models are described. Large advances in our knowledge of Mercury’s
interior are not only expected from imaging of characteristic surface features but particularly from geodetic observations
of the gravity field, the rotation, and the tides of Mercury. The low-degree gravity field of Mercury gives information on
the differences of the principal moments of inertia, which are a measure of the mass concentration toward the center of the
planet. Mercury’s unique rotation presents several clues to the deep interior. From observations of the mean obliquity of
Mercury and the low-degree gravity data, the moments of inertia can be obtained, and deviations from the mean rotation speed
(librations) offer an exciting possibility to determine the moment of inertia of the mantle. Due to its proximity to the Sun,
Mercury has the largest tides of the Solar System planets. Since tides are sensitive to the existence and location of liquid

The dynamical environment on and about the Martian moon Phobos is explored. This planetary moon provides a unique dynamical environment in the solar system, being subject to extreme tidal forces and having a characteristically non-spherical shape. Further, it is not in a fully circular orbit, meaning that it has librations that arise from its eccentricity, contributing to a periodic forcing environment. Thus, to plan and implement missions in the vicinity of and on Phobos will require these considerations be taken into account. In this paper the latest published models of the Phobos shape and dynamics are used to characterize its dynamical environment in close proximity orbit about the body, for motion across its surface and for controlled hovering motion in its vicinity. It is found that surface motion is subject to a number of “speed limits” that can cause a moving vehicle to leave the surface and to possibly escape the moon and enter orbit about Mars. In terms of orbital stability, the existence of libration orbit families are characterized down to the surface using an exact potential, and the known stable QSO orbits are shown to be associated with families of stable quasi-periodic orbits. 相似文献

Current and planned Earth observation missions are equipped with highly sensitive accelerometers. Before using the data, the instrument has to be calibrated by determining scale and bias parameters for each axis. Here, the accelerometer measurements are used in a GPS-based reduced-dynamic orbit determination approach, replacing the non-gravitational force models, and nominally daily calibration parameters are estimated. Additional empirical accelerations are estimated to account for deficiencies in the applied force models. This method is applied to 5 years of CHAMP and GRACE data, resulting in an orbit precision at the level of a few centimeters. In along-track direction the calibration parameters can be estimated freely, scale factors of 0.96 ± 0.014 and 0.95 ± 0.015 are obtained for GRACE A and B, and 0.85 ± 0.024 for CHAMP. A constant scale factor results in the smoothest bias series, with clear trends and occasional jumps. In radial and cross-track direction tight constraints to a priori biases have to be applied. Furthermore, the determined orbits are analyzed with respect to reference trajectories, and SLR, phase and KBR residuals are presented. 相似文献
