We analyze here how solar neutrino experiments could detect time fluctuations of the solar neutrino flux due to magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) perturbations of the solar plasma. We state that if such time fluctuations are detected, this would provide a unique signature of the Resonant Spin-Flavor Precession (RSFP) mechanism as a solution to the Solar Neutrino Problem. The statistical behavior of clutter observed near grazing incidence and at 95 GHz is investigated for the specific cases of bare ground, snow cover, and for a heterogeneous scene. The bare ground constitutes a homogeneous target under homogeneous conditions and the magnitude of the amplitude is Rayleigh distributed. While the snow cover is a homogeneous target, the conditions under which it was observed are heterogeneous, and the Bayes rule is employed to describe its clutter distribution. The Bayes rule integrates variations due to signal fading with the underlying variations in the backscattering coefficient associated with the heterogeneity. The heterogeneous scene is also successfully described with the Bayes rule  相似文献

This paper presents a spin-stabilization algorithm for the Japan Canada Joint Collaboration Satellite-Formation Flying (JC2Sat-FF) mission using magnetic actuation only. It is shown that under a reasonable assumption on the Earth’s magnetic field, the resulting control law is asymptotically stabilizing for an axisymmetric spacecraft, even under the failure of up to two magnetic torque rods and magnetic torque rod saturation. It is also stabilizing under quantization. The satellite motion remains stable under control outages, meaning that the error can be reduced by implementing the control intermittently. The effectiveness of the control law is demonstrated using a high fidelity attitude control system simulator for the JC2Sat-FF satellite.  相似文献

Even if Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) remains the fundamental technique for geocenter monitoring, DORIS can also determine this geophysical parameter. Gobinddass et al. (2009) found that part of the systematic errors at 118 days and 1 year can be significantly reduced by rescaling the current solar radiation pressure models using satellite-dependent empirical models. Here we extend this study to all DORIS satellites and propose a complete set of empirical solar radiation parameter coefficients. A specific problem related to SPOT-5 solar panel realignment is also detected and explained. New DORIS geocenter solutions now show a much better agreement in amplitude with independent SLR solutions and with recent geophysical models. Finally, the impact of this refined DORIS data strategy is discussed in terms of Z-geocenter monitoring as well as for other geodetic products (altitude of high latitude station such as Thule in Greenland) and Precise Orbit Determination. After reprocessing the full 1993.0-2008.0 DORIS data set, we confirm that the proposed strategy allows a significant reduction of systematic errors at periods of 118 days and 1 year (up to 20 mm), especially for the most recent data after 2002.5, when more DORIS satellites are available for geodetic purposes.  相似文献

The USA adopted a new defence strategy in 2012 which responds to the changing geopolitical landscape and straightened economic circumstances. The emphasis is on leaner, more flexible and diversified operations, while priority areas have shifted from Europe to the Asia-Pacific (in acknowledgement of China's growing military might) and the Middle East. This will have consequences for Europe, which is now expected to take a greater share of the strategic burden. The major developments in the strategy – such as eschewing the pursuit of lengthy engagements on more than one front, and using the military to complement diplomatic and economic initiatives – are discussed. Europe is urged to respond by maintaining its national strategic and industrial autonomy, including in access to space and missile defence.  相似文献

While experiments carried out in Space with isolated cells have shown that eucaryotic cells are able to sense and respond to the absence of gravity by modifying their reactions, experiments in which more complex processes have been investigated, such as Biological Systems undergoing development under Microgravity, have been surprisingly unaffected by the space environment. This can be considered a curious result since all organisms are evolutionarily adapted to the current level of the gravity force in our planet and should eventually change if this parameter will vary in a permanent manner. In fact, the small effects of the modifications in gravity on development in short term experiments may be equivalent to the difficulties in detecting the involvement of other basic physical processes such as diffusion-controled auto-organizative reactions in currently developing biological systems. An apparent exception to this lack of effect is experiments where brine shrimp dormant gastrulae directly exposed to the space environment accumulate developmental defects as a consequence of cosmic irradiation. In this article we discuss the idea that at a certain stage during the evolutionary emergence of multicellular organisms the cues laid by generic forces such as gravity were involved in the evolutionary organization of these primitive organisms. As evolution proceed, these early mechanisms may have been obscured and/or made redundant by the appearance of new internal, environment-independent biological regulatory mechanisms. On the other hand, behavioral responses that may be important, for example, in setting the life-spans of organisms may still be more readily susceptible to manipulation by external cues as experiments carried out by our group in Space and on the ground with Drosophila melanogaster indicate.  相似文献

P Cygni is a prototype for understanding mass loss from massive stars. This textbook star is known first of all because of two great eruptions in the 17th century. In the first half of this century it has given its name to a class of stars which are characterized by spectral lines consisting of nearly undisplaced emissions accompanied by a blue-displaced absorption component. This characteristic P Cygni-type profile betrays the presence of a stellar wind, but P Cygni's wind is quite unlike that of other hot supergiants. P Cygni was the first star that showed the effects of stellar evoluton from a study of its photometric history. It shares some common properties with the so-called Luminous Blue Variables. However, P Cygni is a unique object. This review deals with P Cygni's photometric properties, its circumstellar environment - including infrared and radio observations - and its optical and ultraviolet spectrum. The PC Bank may be the most timesaving banking innovation since the ATM (Automatic Teller Machine). However, it also brings new possibilities for thieves. This is mainly because we have not completely solved the growing problem of computer viruses and Trojans that can act on our computers against our will. Several methods are used against them, although none can be considered 100% effective. Even more, most personal computers have little or no virus protection, so they are very easy to attack. This can become a problem as nearly all PC banking systems rely on authentication with identification passwords. This system is vulnerable and we will show that it does not provide enough protection for the users that want to make transfer operations from their accounts  相似文献

The present investigation is focused on the solution of a dynamic inverse problem which is concerned with the assessment of damage in large space structures by means of measured vibration data. This inverse problem has been presented as an optimization problem and has been solved through the use of the conjugate gradient method with the adjoint equation, also called the variational approach. When a high number of damaged elements has to be found and these elements are also severely damaged, it is shown that the use of an additional method is necessary in order to provide a better initial guess for the conjugate gradient method. A stochastic method, represented by the genetic algorithm method, has been chosen because it provides robust search in complex spaces and also reduces the chance of converging to local optima. The application of this hybrid approach showed that better results can be achieved, although the computational time for the application analyzed here could increase. The damage estimation has been evaluated using noiseless and noisy synthetic experimental data, and the reported results are concerned with a space truss structure.  相似文献

A new world order has begun to appear since the early 1990s. The simplicity of interaction between individual states, based on the rivalry between the two superpowers, is gradually being replaced by new attitudes formed in a complex, uncertain and risky context. States still have a role, discussing, negotiating, legislating, creating infrastructures and issuing directives. However, political power, with its laws, its order and its reasoning, is being supplemented and often dominated by other forms of power: economic, financial or influence. Space policies follow or sometimes precede political trends. They were the spearhead of the ‘glory years’ and still bear the imprint of the simple rules which applied twenty years ago. However, amid the current uncertainty, it is possible to perceive the outline of the space policies of the future, which may contribute to the definition of new watersheds in the modern world.  相似文献
