The instabilities associated with a high Mach number perpendicular shock are reexamined in light of recent enhanced understanding of the Earth's bow shock. The insights provided by both the ISEE observations and hybrid simulations are reviewed and subsequently incorporated into the instability analyses. The discussion of the instabilities is divided according to their location in the shock layer. In the regions in front of and at the shock transition the cross-field instabilities are subdivided into low frequency modes (e.g. ion-ion streaming, kinetic cross-field streaming, drift lower hybrid instabilities) and high frequency modes (electron cyclotron drift, ion sound and electron whistler instabilities). Further downstream various ion ring-like and anisotropy driven instabilities are considered. In each case the instability analysis is reviewed and recent developments are emphasized. Implications of these results concerning the wave signatures and plasma heating and acceleration are also discussed. 相似文献

An airport surveillance function operating on surface movement radar (SMR) images is proposed and evaluated. The main contributions presented are the statistical error models of the target centroid and attributes extracted from radar images, developed and applied to the design of its main data processing blocks. Besides a multihypothesis image-to-tracks assignment method, a tracking filter using the extracted orientation and a classification scheme based on target attributes is detailed. The error models confidence and processing methods performance are demonstrated through simulation in representative scenarios 相似文献

A new way is given to describe the independent and dependent design variables of the power train of a dc-to-dc converter in terms of a multidimensional design-parameter space. These concepts provide a framework for examining the problem of design optimization of the power train, with particular emphasis on the maximization of converter efficiency. Numerous examples of important parameterspace surfaces illustrate some of the major relationships between core volume, switching frequency, and output power and between efficiency, ripple, and temperature rise of the energy-storage reactor. Also, the difference in performance between the continuous and discontinuous magnetomotive (MMF) force modes of operation is explored. 相似文献
