Recursive temporal-spatial information fusion with applications totarget identification

Centralized/distributed recursive algorithms for temporal-spatial information integration using the Dempster-Shafer technique are developed. Compared with the Bayesian approach, the Dempster-Shafer technique has the strong capability of handling information uncertainties, which are particularly desirable in many applications. In the centralized integration algorithm, all information is pooled into the central processor and integrated. In contrast, the distributed integration algorithm shares the computational burden among the local processors, which increases the computational efficiency. The developed algorithms are effectively applied to a target identification problem with three sensors: identification of friend-foe-neutral (IFFN), electronic support measurement (ESM), and infrared search and track (IRST)     

A starting system of warning the critical conditions for a single-rotor helicopter

We consider the function, the problems being solved and the construction principles for a starting system of warning the critical regimes for a single-rotor helicopter at parking, taxiing and maneuvering on the ground, takeoff and landing as well as at descending and hovering regimes. The structural-functional scheme and the algorithms of system channel warning are presented.     

Determination of maximum deflection in transverse bending of parallelogram plates using the conformal radiuses ratio

A problem of transverse bending of elastic isotropic parallelogram plates under the action of uniformly distributed load is considered. The plate sides are either pivoted or rigidly restrained. To determine the value of maximum plate deflection, it is proposed that an interpolation technique with respect to form factor be used; and as a geometrical argument, an inner-outer conformal radius ratio can be applied instead of the form factor.     

Optimimal control of CNC machine operating regimes

In this paper, a mathematical model of labor-intensity and a method of searching for optimal control of operating conditions in machining arbitrarily configurated parts with the use of CNC machines are considered. Also given is an example of the process optimization..     

Buckling of composite panels: A criterion for optimum stiffener design

In this paper a linear, closed-form analysis of the buckling behavior of an orthotropic plate with elastic clamping and edge reinforcement under uniform compressive load is presented. This is a typical structural situation found in aerospace engineering for instance as stiffeners in wings or the fuselage. All governing equations are transformed in a dimensionless system using common characteristic quantities to gain good analytical access. The buckling behavior is analyzed and generic buckling diagrams are presented. The solutions show excellent agreement with results from literature and numerical analyses.The minimum bending stiffness of the edge reinforcement needed to withstand buckling is examined and a minimum stiffness criterion is presented. Furthermore an absolute minimum bending stiffness is found which is sufficient to enable the reinforcement to act as a near-rigid support for arbitrarily long plates. These criteria are of interest for optimized lightweight design of stringers and stiffeners.     

Calculation of flight vehicle main support wheel vibrations taking into account brake forces

A model of the main support of the aircraft landing gear is presented and its dynamics is studied using the equations for the distributed motion of a wheel equipped with a brake. Stability of the support wheel rolling motion is analyzed and the brake parameter values which may cause stability loss are found. The results of numerical experiments are presented.     

On synthesizing the informative functions of hazard at helicopter’s critical flight conditions

In this paper, we consider some typical values of motion parameters in exceptional situations when approaching to the helicopter critical flight regimes and present a technique for constructing the partial and integral informative functions of hazards at current flight regimes. Also described are the possibilities of their use for solving the problems of warning, informative crew support, and synthesizing the control algorithms to remove helicopter from the exceptional situation occurred.     

Approximate technique of tip vortex account in calculating a helicopter main rotor

We present the materials, which substantiate the application of a rather simple approximate method of accounting for disturbances of the airflow around the helicopter main rotor blades; in this case, the disturbances are caused by vortices that come down from the blade ends. It is shown that these disturbances influence significantly the varying blade loads.     

Thermostressed state in turbine rotor blades with thermal barrier coating at transient conditions of air breathing jet engine operation

The finite-difference method acceptable for on-board computers is applied to analyze the thermo-stressed state for the thermal-barrier coating of a perforated turbine blade and its wall at transient and stationary conditions of air-breathing jet engine operation during a flight.
