Innovative processing of satellite radar altimetry over solid Earth has been successfully applied for observing geodynamic process of glacial isostatic adjustment over the former Laurentide Ice Sheet in the present-day Hudson Bay land region. In this contribution, a simulation is conducted to study the prospects of the applications of space-/airborne and land-based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) reflectometry to synoptically observe global-scale geodynamic processes with a vertical accuracy of ∼2 mm/yr. 相似文献

The size of a previously experienced object has a significant effect on depth judgments in visually sparse environments. The present research explored whether familiar object size also significantly influences judgments of lateral separation. Experiment 1 required participants to detect changes in lateral separation using a one-shot change detection paradigm with a closer/same/farther forced-choice response. Participants accurately detected changes in lateral separation, although concurrent changes in object size significantly reduced the accuracy of their judgments such that increases (or decreases) in object size caused a relative underestimation (or overestimation) of separation. Experiment 2 replicated these results using a distance reproduction methodology. These results indicate that familiar object size exhibits a significant effect on judgments of lateral separation. 相似文献

Comets are thought to preserve the most pristine material currently present in the solar system, as they are formed by agglomeration
of dust particles in the solar nebula, far from the Sun, and their interiors have remained cold. By approaching the Sun, volatile
components and dust particles are released forming the cometary coma. During the phase of Heavy Bombardment, 3.8--4 billion
years ago, cometary matter was delivered to the Early Earth. Precise knowledge on the physico-chemical composition of comets
is crucial to understand the formation of the Solar System, the evolution of Earth and particularly the starting conditions
for the origin of life on Earth. Here, we report on the COSAC instrument, part of the ESA cometary mission Rosetta, which
is designed to characterize, identify, and quantify volatile cometary compounds, including larger organic molecules, by in
situ measurements of surface and subsurface cometary samples. The technical concept of a multi-column enantio-selective gas
chromatograph (GC) coupled to a linear reflectron time-of-flight mass-spectrometer instrument is presented together with its
realisation under the scientific guidance of the Max-Planck-Institute for Solar System Research in Katlenburg-Lindau, Germany.
The instrument's technical data are given; first measurements making use of standard samples are presented. The cometary science
community is looking forward to receive fascinating data from COSAC cometary in situ measurements in 2014. 相似文献

Differences between the dynamical characteristics of the northern hemisphere (NH) and southern hemisphere (SH) stratosphere (e.g., the temperature, the strength of polar vortex, and the mean meridional circulation) produce hemispherically asymmetrical distributions of chemical species. In this paper, we use global models to briefly discuss various effects on chemical species caused by this asymmetrical distribution, especially on stratospheric ozone. The role of hemispheric asymmetries in chlorine and bromine loadings on mid- and high latitude ozone depletion is particularly discussed. 相似文献
