This correspondence describes a unique digital Doppler ambiguity resolution technique for a pulsed S-band radar. Whereas conventional methods of resolving ambiguities employ various curve fitting schemes in which the best differentiated range curve fit is compared with the Doppler derived velocity, the method described here uses the opposite approach, i.e., the Doppler derived velocity is integrated and compared with the range change over the integrating interval. The integrating approach offers the following advantages over conventional curve fitting. 1) There are no lag errors due to velocity changes, other than tracker lag induced by jerk. 2) No large storage of past data points and their weighting Constants must be implemented. 相似文献

A review of some of the underlying reasons for crime is presented, together with a perspective-setting view of the present status of crime in the United States. A statistical analysis of the number of repeaters is presented as the basis for a crime control system consisting of a transponder carried by each convicted person after he is released from confinement. Real-time tracking of these transponders is done by a computer-radio system; when a crime is committed a quick check shows at least who was not involved. Recent studies of the lunar ejecta from lunar impacts of interplanetary dust particles indicate that during favorable lunar phases, over 80% of the submicron ejecta enters the earth's magnetosphere. This “pulse” of lunar ejecta produced by the sporadic meteor background will follow the random variations of the sporadic flux. An additional enhancement of this flux can be related to major meteor showers. Since the annual periods of these showers occur during varying lunar phase angles, magnetosphere ejecta flux associated with major showers will vary depending on the coincidence of shower periods and favorable lunar phase angles. The results of an analysis of the “pulse” of ejecta flux in the magnetosphere during the Quadrantids, Geminids, Leonids, and Perseids meteor showers are presented. One instrument of the Canadian Auroral Network for the Open Program Unified Study (CANOPUS) is a pulsed dual bistatic auroral radar system (BARS) for the mapping of ionospheric electric fields, using the STARE technique originated by R.A. Greenwald [14]. The Canadian system is presently in the specification and design phases, with the objective of being operational by mid-1984. A means of optimizing a moving target indicator (MTI) filter for rejecting several types of clutter, which are generated by different mechanisms such as by rain or the ground, is formulated. lt is found that the optimal performance of such a filter depends on the spectral density functions, average radar cross sections, and the relative mean Doppler frequencies of each type of clutter. lt is shown that the optimal improvement factor of such a filter is bounded by the weighted average (weighted in accordance with the radar cross sections of the clutter types) of the improvement factor for the individual clutter type. lt is also shown that the improvement factor of such a filter is a function of the relative mean Doppler frequency f0 between the clutter types. As f0 increases, the performance of the MTI system degrades. The worst improvement factor occurs when f0 is equal to half of the radar pulse-repetition frequency (PRF). 相似文献

Critical conditions for detonation failure due to tube expansion have been observed in marginal detonations propagating in a
in. (6.35 × 76.2 mm) channel. In these experiments, a well established marginal detonation propagating in the narrow channel entered a test section in which one of the narrow walls was inclined to the central axis at positive angles which ranged from 10° to 45°. Experiments were performed at pressures ranging from 60 to 200 torr (8 to 26.7 kPa) in stoichiometric hydrogen-oxygen mixtures diluted with 20, 50 and 70% argon. Smoke track records obtained on the surface which is the major dimension of the tube, were used to determine failure, incipient failure or self-sustenance of the entering wave.Because of the narrow tube used in the studies the incident waves were marginal in that their velocity was below the expected CJ (Chapman-Jouguet) value, their transverse wave spacing was larger than one would see in a large tube, and the transverse waves were of greater strength than in an ordinary detonation. All of these indicators of marginal behavior became progressively more pronounced as the pressure dropped from 200 torr (26.7 kPa) to the limit pressure of approximately 58 torr (7.73 kPa).The most interesting result of this experimental investigation is that the theoretical analyses predicted that simple one-dimensional opening of the tube should not show a pressure dependence to failure, while the experiments showed a definite decrease in the opening angle required for failure as initial pressure decreased. This behavior is related to the marginality of the incident waves, which is observed to increase smoothly with decreased pressure. It is postulated that detonation failure in the hydrogen-oxygen system occurs when the shock velocity at the end of the cell drops to about 0.60 of the CJ value due either to marginal behavior or to an expansion of the cross section of the tube. 相似文献

The ructure and tmospheric urbulence nvironment (STATE) experiment was conducted during the second week of June 1983 at Poker Flat Research Range, Alaska. The measurements focus on a study of the middle atmosphere dynamics by comparison between in-situ probe measurements and MST radar measurements. Rocket launchings were conducted at three periods which were selected by monitoring the doppler velocity spectra of the MST radar.The STATE program has included the efforts of several scientists in planning and carrying out the ground-based and rocket measurements. An overview of the program is given together with some preliminary results. The regions in intense backscatter signals detected by the MST radar are shown to correlate with large irregularities in the electron profiles measured. 相似文献
