It is shown that by using a proper transformation of state variables, the third-order system of the parallel resonant converter (PRC) with LLC -type commutation can be analyzed by means of a two-dimensional state-plane diagram. A set of characteristic curves which can be used for the converter design is derived from the analysis. Today's aircraft use ultra-reliable real-time controls for demanding functions such as Fly-By-Wire (FBW) flight control. Future aircraft, spacecraft and other vehicles will require greater use of these types of controls for functions that currently are allowed to fail, fail to degraded operation, or require human intervention in response to failure. Fully automated and autonomous functions will require ultra-reliable control. But ultra-reliable systems are very expensive to design and require large amounts of on-board equipment. This paper will discuss how the use of low-cost sensors with digital outputs, digitally commanded fault-tolerant actuation devices and interconnecting networks of low-cost data buses offer the promise of more affordable ultra-reliable systems. Specific technologies and concepts to be discussed include low-cost automotive and industrial data buses, “smart” actuation devices with integral fault masking capabilities, management of redundant sensors, and the fault detection and diagnosis of the data network. The advantages of integrating the control and distribution of electrical power with the control system will be illustrated. The design, installation, and upgrade flexibility benefits provided by an all-digital and shared network approach will be presented. The economic benefits of systems that can operate following failure and without immediate repair will be reviewed. The inherent ability of these redundant systems to provide effective built-in test and self-diagnostics capabilities will be described. The challenges associated with developing ultra-reliable software for these systems and the difficulties associated with exhaustive verification testing will be presented as will additional development hurdles that must be overcome 相似文献

Since November 1978 a set of total solar irradiance (TSI) measurements from space is available, yielding a time series of more than 25 years. Presently, there are three TSI composites available, called PMOD, ACRIM and IRMB, which are all constructed from the same original data, but use different procedures to correct for sensitivity changes. The PMOD composite is the only one which also corrects the early HF data for degradation. The results from the detailed analysis of the VIRGO radiometry allow a good understanding of the effects influencing the long-term behaviour of classical radiometers in space. Thus, a re-analysis of the behaviour of HF/NIMBUS-7 and ACRIM-I/SMM was indicated. For the former the situation is complicated by the fact that there are no in-flight means to determine changes due to exposure to solar radiation by comparison with a less exposed radiometer on the same spacecraft. The geometry and optical property of the cavity of HF is, however, very similar to the PMO6-type radiometers, so the behaviour of the PMO6V radiometers on VIRGO can be used as a model. ACRIM-I had to be revised mainly due to a henceforth undetected early increase and a more detailed analysis of its degradation. The results are not only important for solar radiometry from space, but they also provide a more reliable TSI during cycle 21. The differences between the revised PMOD composite and the ACRIM and IRMB are discussed by comparison with a TSI reconstruction from Kitt-Peak magnetograms. As the PMOD composite is the only one which has reliable data for cycle 21, the behaviour of the three solar cycles can now be compared and the similarities and differences discussed. 相似文献

The Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, and Voyager 2 spacecraft were launched in 1972, 1974, and 1977, respectively. While these three spacecraft are all at compartively low heliographic latitudes compared with Ulysses, their observation span almost two solar cycles, a range of heliocentric distances from 1 to 57 AU, and provide a unique insight into the long-term variability of the global structure of the solar wind. We examine the spatial and temporal variation of average solar wind parameters and fluxes. Our obsevations suggest that the global structure of the outer heliosphere during the declining phase of the solar cycle at heliographic latitudes up to 17.5°N was charaterized by two competing phenomena: 1) a large-scale increase of solar wind density, temperature, mass flux, dynamic pressure, kinetic energy flux, and thermal enery flux with heliographic latitude, similar to the large-scale latitudinal gradient of velocity seen in IPS observations, 2) a small-scale decrease in velocity and temperature, and increase in density near the heliospheric current sheet, which is associated with a band of low speed, low temperature, and high density solar wind similar to that observed in the inner heliosphere. 相似文献

The temporal decorrelation characteristics of X -band radar backscatter from wind-influenced vegetation were investigated using a short-range CW radar. Radar reflectance data were gathered on various types of individual trees from a distance of approximately 30 m. The windspeed was monitored during each measurement, which lasted 5 s. The crown cover and the mean leaf area of the trees were also recorded. Autocovariance plots were generated for each measurement, from which the decorrelation time was estimated. As expected, the return signals decorrelated faster at higher wind speeds. However, the decorrelation time was also found to depend on the tree type, tree structure, and leaf cover characteristics. Measured decorrelation times for moderate winds (7-9 m/s) were often between 40-60 ms, although the lowest decorrelation time measured under these conditions was 14 ms for the Eastern Cottonwood. In lighter winds (1-4 m/s), decorrelation times were much longer, and there was substantial spread in the data 相似文献

The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) Science Ground Segment (SGS), comprised of payload Instrument Team, ESA and Russian operational centres, is responsible for planning the science operations of the TGO mission and for the generation and archiving of the scientific data products to levels meeting the scientific aims and criteria specified by the ESA Project Scientist as advised by the Science Working Team (SWT). The ExoMars SGS builds extensively upon tools and experience acquired through earlier ESA planetary missions like Mars and Venus Express, and Rosetta, but also is breaking ground in various respects toward the science operations of future missions like BepiColombo or JUICE. A productive interaction with the Russian partners in the mission facilitates broad and effective collaboration. We investigate climate-related processes causing variations of the global mean sea level on interannual to decadal time scale.
We focus on thermal expansion of the oceans and continental water mass balance. We show that during the 1990s where global
mean sea level change has been measured by Topex/Poseidon satellite altimetry, thermal expansion is the dominant contribution
to the observed 2.5 mm/yr sea level rise. For the past decades, exchange of water between continental reservoirs and oceans
had a small, but not totally negligible contribution (about 0.2 mm/yr) to sea level rise. For the last four decades, thermal
contribution is estimated to about 0.5 mm/yr, with a possible accelerated rate of thermosteric rise during the 1990s. Topex/Poseidon
shows an increase in mean sea level of 2.5 mm/yr over the last decade, a value about two times larger than reported by historical
tide gauges. This would suggest that there has been significant acceleration of sea level rise in the recent past, possibly
related to ocean warming.

A one-dimensional tracking filter based on the Kalman filtering techniques for tracking of a dynamic target such as an aircraft is discussed. The target is assumed to be moving with constant acceleration and is acted upon by a plant noise which perturbs its constant acceleration motion. The anomaly in the displacement estimates obtained from a low-level Kalman-based average displacement estimator is used to detect multiple targets in a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) scene. The displacement estimates originating from the targets could be associated with the detected multiple targets and an updated estimated position of the target could be obtained. This procedure could be repeated for all targets in the scene to obtain multitarget tracking. The behavior of the expected value of the displacement estimates as a function of the number of iterations is investigated.
