Induction machine based flywheel energy storage system

This study introduces a field oriented controlled (FOC) induction machine based flywheel energy storage (FES) system fed from a 20 kHz high frequency (HF) ac link and pulse density modulated (PDM) Converter. The feasibility of FES system is investigated both in software and hardware and is demonstrated successfully in both cases. The investigated system offers a good potential as a temporary energy storage system for various applications from automobile industry to aerospace applications.     

BIOS-4 as an embodiment of CELSS development conception.

Any attempt to create LSS for practical applications must take into account the possibility of castastrophic consequences if the problem of LSS reliability and stability is not solved. An integrated conception of CELSS studies development as a possible way to increase its reliability is considered. The BIOS-4 facility project is developed in the context of the conception. Three principles of highly effective experimental CELSS facility design are proposed. Some details of BIOS-4 design and its exploitation features are presented.     

Giotto/Cometary dust interaction event near the comet Halley ionopause

Plasma and magnetic field disturbances accompanying dust particle impacts are explained by means of creation of a secondary cloud around the spacecraft. Cold cometary ions impinging upon the cloud are scattered by atoms of the cloud. This scattering changes initial angular distribution of cometary ions. Magnetic field perturbation is created by the friction between the electron component of the cometary plasma flow and the cloud.     

Experimental study of damping properties of a composite torsion bar in the helicopter main rotor hingeless hub

The results of the experimental studies of damping characteristics of a composite torsion bar in the helicopter main rotor hingeless hub are presented. A variant of their improvement is considered.     

The finite element analysis of shells of revolution with a branching meridian

We present an algorithm for calculating the shells of revolution with the branching meridian using the triangular finite elements, the rigidity matrices of which are formed based on the vector method of displacement interpolation [1]. The correct kinematic and static conditions of shell conjugation on the line of their coupling have been developed. The shell structure consisting of a cylinder and adjacent shells is calculated under various conditions of support.     

Analysis of shells of revolution under symmetrical loading using the quadrature method

The application of the quadrature method [1] to analyzing the shells of revolution under symmetrical loading relative to the zero meridian is considered. The method can be treated as a generalization of the method presented in [2] to solve the Volterra integral equation of the second kind.     

基于ADAMS/Aircraft的起落架滑跑模型仿真

以小车式起落架为例,利用ADAMS/Airc- raft建立了起落架滑跑试验仿真模型.给出了起落架滑跑运动方程,并进行了滑跑试验仿真分析。仿真结果与理论要求对比具有较好的一致性。     

Carbon dioxide and oxygen budgets of a plant cultural system in a CELSS--a case of cultivation of lettuce and turnips.

In order to collect basic data about CO2 and O2 budgets of a plant cultural system in a CELSS, the variation of the CO2 absorption rates of lettuce and turnips were observed during the growing period, under different conditions. The O2 release rates were deduced from the CO2 absorption rates multiplied by 32/44. As a result, when the light intensity, the photoperiod and the atmospheric CO2 concentration increased, the rates also increased. The effects on the turnips were more significant than those on the lettuce. Turnips at 310 micromoles/m2/s of PPFD, 24 hours of photoperiod and 1100 ppm of CO2 concentration grew most actively in the present experimental conditions. One turnip absorbed 32.3 g CO2 and released 23.5 g O2 for 6 days between 24 days and 30 days after sowing.     

Stability of resonance rotation of a satellite with respect to its center of mass in the orbit plane

The stability of resonance oscillations and rotations of a satellite in the plane of its orbit in the case when the difference of the moments of inertia with respect to the principal axes lying in the orbit plane is small is determined at a given rotation number m by the sign of function Φ_m(e), introduced by F.L. Chernous’ko in 1963. In this paper, convenient analytical representations of functions Φ_m(e) are described in the form of integrals and series of Bessel functions regular at e → 1^?. Values of Φ_m(1) are calculated in explicit form. A theorem about the double asymptotic form of functions Φ_m(e) at m → ∞ and e → 1^? is proved by the saddlepoint method.
