本文将几个地面和卫星观测结果结合起来给出Volland对流电场模型的实验参数.结果能很好地与GEOS-2卫星所测得的等离子体层顶运动特征、STARE雷达测得的Harang不连续性的运动及近年来探测的磁层电离层电场相吻合.文章指出只要Volland电场模型的参数由实验确定后, 将更有助于磁层和电离层物理的研究.   相似文献

The ever-present global Atmospheric Electrical Field (AEF) is used by many plant species. There are many natural habitats with electrotropic plants and habitats with no AEF. The plants growing there are not electrotropic, like the plants growing under the canopies of the trees or the Arecibo radio telescope. Examples are given of different plants which belong to one or the other class, and the criteria how to distinguish them. In addition to natural habitat observations, laboratory experiments were run in search of the sensitivity of electrotropic effect to different electric field intensities. During a few years, it was established that in very strong fields (of the order of 1 MV/m) all plants respond immediately to the field. This type of reaction is due to the Coulomb forces, but electrotropism depends on electric field interaction with ions. The "reference field" (130 V/m) was always used with stronger fields in the several kV/m range which enhance plant growth rate and size similar to plant growth hormones. Surprising effects were also observed with reversed and horizontal field polarity. In conclusion electrotropic plants deprived of the electrical field do not develop as expected, as can be seen in Biosphere 2. This is an instructive example of what happens when we forget to provide the plants with this vital natural environmental factor. Electrical fields of different intensity, directions and configurations are cheap and easy to generate.  相似文献

利用EISCAT雷达探测数据,分析计算了太阳活动高年夏季发生的一次强磁暴期间,极光区电离层对流电场、电导率以及焦耳加热速率等着重考察了E区热怪大气焦耳加热和F区离子摩擦增温与F区电子密度耗空的关系发现在下午东向极光电集流期间,电子密度最大耗空出现在F区300-325km高度,时间恰在积分的E区大气焦耳加热量大值和F区最大离子增温之后5-10min,耗空率达70%。  相似文献

本文利用欧洲的EISCAT雷达观测资料及与这配合的地磁观测数据,用电离层参数直接计算和地面磁场反演两种方法导出了极区电离层Hall电导率,特别显示出在强对流电场激发的E层等离子体不稳定波对电子加热情况下,电导率明显增高。  相似文献

Routine observations of lower ionosphere electron densities are now available from the EISCAT radar facility. High resolution (3km in altitude) power profile measurements are obtained from the altitude interval 55 to 170km for approximately 400 hours per year, collected during a series of continuous periods of operation of 24 or more hours at a time. Variations of D and E-region electron densities are presented, as a function of solar-zenith angle during quiet conditions, and as a function of simulated 30MHz riometer absorption during disturbed conditions.  相似文献

本文讨论了强磁暴期间磁层环电流能量变化率与电离层电场变化之间的联系.STARE和SABRE雷达资料表明,电离层对环电流变化响应的主要特点是:(1)在磁地方时午后区,响应的时延达最大(约1—2小时),场强以指数形式增加;在其它时区内,无系统的增强过程,仅观测到较大的、有明显涨落的电场值.(2)STARE(70.2°N)和SABRE(65.8°N)测到的电场变化往往具有相反的趋势.(3)在STARE视场内,环电流能量变化达极大后,较低纬(70.2°N)上的电场值经常大于较高纬(71.8°N)上的值.分析结果表明,磁暴期间磁层-电离层耦合过程中,环电流起着重要作用.   相似文献

The downward field-aligned current region plays an active role in magnetosphere–ionosphere coupling processes associated with aurora. A quasi-static electric field structure with a downward parallel electric field forms at altitudes between 800 km and 5000 km, accelerating ionospheric electrons upward, away from the auroral ionosphere. Other phenomena including energetic ion conics, electron solitary waves, low-frequency wave activity, and plasma density cavities occur in this region, which also acts as a source region for VLF saucers. Results are presented from high-altitude Cluster observations with particular emphasis on the characteristics and dynamics of quasi-static electric field structures. These, extending up to altitudes of at least 4–5 Earth radii, appear commonly as monopolar or bipolar electric fields. The former occur at sharp boundaries, such as the polar cap boundary whereas the bipolar fields occur at softer boundaries within the plasma sheet. The temporal evolution of quasi-static electric field structures, as captured by the pearls-on-a-string configuration of the Cluster spacecraft, indicates that the formation of electric field structures and of ionospheric plasma density cavities are closely coupled processes. A related feature of the downward current is a broadening of the current sheet with time, possibly related to the depletion process. Preliminary studies of the coupling of electric fields in the downward current region, show that small-scale structures are typically decoupled from the ionosphere, similar to what has been found for the upward current region. However, exceptions are also found where small-scale electric fields couple perfectly between the ionosphere and Cluster altitudes. Recent FAST results indicate that the degree of coupling differs between sheet-like and curved structures, and that it is typically partial. The electric field coupling further depends on the current–voltage relationship, which is highly non-linear in the downward current region, and still unrevealed, as to its specific form.  相似文献

An earlier theoretical model (UW-87) accurately predicted the electron temperature in the daytime F-region but suggested N2 concentrations significantly greater than the predictions of MSIS-86. This discrepancy is resolved when the model is developed to include the effects of vibrationally excited nitrogen molecules and electronically excited oxygen ions on the F-region recombination rate. The revised model (UW-92) continues to predict electron temperatures close to the layer peak with great accuracy but it is now more closely consistent with MSIS. However, the electron temperatures predicted by this model, which are in close agreement with EISCAT observations, are significantly higher than the values predicted by the international Reference Ionosphere.  相似文献

Ground observations of locally confined, very intense, drifting current systems by the EISCAT magnetometer cross in correlation with GEOS 2 measurements will be explained in terms of kinetic Alfvén waves. In the ground based magnetograms the events are characterized by strong pulsations with amplitudes in the horizontal component up to 1000 nT and periods of about 300s and longer. They occur in the evening hours adjacent to the poleward side of the Harang discontinuity with the onset of a substorm. At the same time the inner edge of the plasma sheet passes the GEOS 2 position, magnetically conjugate to ground stations. The common features of four events during Nov and Dec 1982 will be discussed.  相似文献

Results are presented from recent ionospheric modification experiments in which the EISCAT UHF radar measured the E-region temperature and density response to high power RF heating above Tromsø. A variety of electrojet conditions were encountered during these experiments. In particular, the electron drift velocity varied considerably allowing the heating efficiency of the RF heater to be investigated as a function of electron flow velocity. These observations constitute the first direct investigation of electrojet temperature modifications by high power radio waves and provide a test of a recent theoretical model in which the combined effects of RF heating and of natural plasma turbulence associated with the Farley-Buneman instability have been considered.  相似文献

The interplanetary magnetic field, geomagnetic variations, virtual ionosphere height h′F, and the critical frequency foF2 data during the geomagnetic storms are studied to demonstrate relationships between these phenomena. We study 5-min ionospheric variations using the first Western Pacific Ionosphere Campaign (1998–1999) observations, 5-min interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) and 5-min auroral electrojets data during a moderate geomagnetic storm. These data allowed us to demonstrate that the auroral and the equatorial ionospheric phenomena are developed practically simultaneously. Hourly average of the ionospheric foF2 and h′F variations at near equatorial stations during a similar storm show the same behavior. We suppose this is due to interaction between electric fields of the auroral and the equatorial ionosphere during geomagnetic storms. It is shown that the low-latitude ionosphere dynamics during these moderate storms was defined by the southward direction of the Bz-component of the interplanetary magnetic field. A southward IMF produces the Region I and Region II field-aligned currents (FAC) and polar electrojet current systems. We assume that the short-term ionospheric variations during geomagnetic storms can be explained mainly by the electric field of the FAC. The electric fields of the field-aligned currents can penetrate throughout the mid-latitude ionosphere to the equator and may serve as a coupling agent between the auroral and the equatorial ionosphere.  相似文献

大气电场强度是大气电学的重要参数.大气电场的准确测量对雷暴和地震的监测、预警等具有重要的意义.利用2015年8月27日气球搭载大气电场仪测量近地面大气电场实验得到的电场数据,分析在特殊地形表面近地面500m高度内大气电场强度随高度的变化特征.结果表明:晴天条件下,火山喷发形成的熔岩平台山顶上空近地面大气电场强度随高度增加呈指数递减,大气电场的数值和变化范围均较大,尤其是近地面100m高度内,大气电场值达到1kV·m-1以上.此外,还通过经验公式得出了近火山灰石地表的大气电导率.受空气中重离子的影响,其电导率远小于全球大气电导率的平均值.实验结果丰富了在特殊地形下大气电场的测量结果,揭示了中国内蒙古锡林浩特地区火山山顶近地面大气电场强度随高度的变化特征.   相似文献

Earth based Bioregenerative Life Supporting Systems (BLSS) are subject to 4 main physical factors: gravity, light, temperature and electrical environment. The first 3 are obvious to everyone, the Electrical Environment (EE) is not under the majority of prevailing conditions perceived directly by our senses. The EE is one of the important physical factors directly influencing some plants and in a less obvious way also the majority of plants. There are only two long range forces in nature: the electromagnetic and the gravitational forces. Gravity is very much weaker than the electromagnetic forces FG/FEL=10(-38), where FG is the gravitational Force and FEL are the electromagnetic Forces. The atmospheric electric field prevails all the time over the entire Earth with a mean intensity of 130 V/m. It is therefore a potent factor which may be used by some plants exposed throughout their entire life time to the atmospheric electric field. What effect should the normal atmospheric electric field have on plants? All living plants are good electrical conductors for electrostatic fields. The plants distort the normally vertical field lines, which have to be perpendicular to the plant tissue everywhere in order to avoid the extraction of energy from the field. The meristems concentrate the field lines, thus the electrically charged nutrients are supplied to the growing parts of the plant exposed to the field. This results in electrotropism in some plants. It is very well known that plants do have adaptive capabilities as compared to animals, it is important for their survival, because they cannot run away from trouble. It is found by careful observations of the behaviour of different plants that some plants do respond to the presence of the atmospheric electric field while other plants exposed to the same environment are indifferent to the atmospheric electric field. The plants growing in the Biosphere II were shielded by the metal structure of the Biosphere II. Because these plants which do make use of the atmospheric electric field are also to be found in the Biosphere II and must be deprived of this natural atmospheric electric field and in consequence of some of their natural nutrients. I have experimental evidence that at least some plants do respond to the atmospheric electric field. This effect is the most likely cause of the oxygen depletion and of the carbon dioxide accumulation in Biosphere II. Under the micro gravity encountered in space habitats the restoration of electric fields is even more important for plant growth than it is on the Earth.  相似文献

大气电场强度是大气电学的重要参数.大气电场的准确测量及其时空特性对研究空间天气活动、气象活动以及大型地质活动具有重要意义.2019年8月26日和28日,中国科学院鸿鹄专项团队在青海省海西蒙古自治州大柴旦镇地区放飞搭载模式电场仪的探空气球,测量了不同高度的大气电场强度.利用互相关函数法和主成分分析法研究了此次气球实验得到的电场数据.结果表明,尽管通常情况下决定大气垂直电场大小的主要因素是高度,但是该地区风场对大气电场强度的影响也比较显著.晴天大气条件下,有无薄云的存在对大气电场测量存在一定影响,有云条件下,风速会通过影响云的形成间接影响到大气电场.此外,柴达木盆地存在一个易受下垫面影响的大气电场边界层,分析表明这个边界层厚度在3km以上.对边界层大气电场变化以及晴天无云时3600m以上的大气电场分布进行了分析和拟合.   相似文献

We have analysed 28 plasmapause crossings made by the DE1 satellite in the night local time sector (from January to March 1982). Different signatures obtained by the Retarding Ion Mass Spectrometer instrument (RIMS) have been used for this analysis. The observed plasmapause positions (Lpp) have been organized as a function of geomagnetic indices. They are compared with the empirical relationship deduced by Carpenter and Parks (1973) from whistler observations. Moreover, the dependence of Lpp versus Kp has been inferred from model calculation using Kp dependent electric and magnetic fields derived from McIlwain's (1974) E3H electric field model and M2 magnetic field model respectively. Stationary models, as well as time dependent ones, have been used to determine the positions of the plasmapause. The results of the model calculations are compared to the observations.  相似文献

Zonal and vertical electric fields were estimated at E region heights in the Brazilian sector. Zonal electric fields are obtained from the vertical electric fields based on their relation through the Hall-to-Pedersen ionospheric conductivities ratio. The technique for obtaining the vertical electric field is based on its proportionality to the Doppler velocities of type 2 irregularities as detected by coherent radars. The 50 MHz backscatter coherent (RESCO) radar was used to estimate the Doppler velocities of the type 2 irregularities embedded in the equatorial electrojet. A magnetic field-line integrated conductivity model was developed to provide the conductivities. It considers a multi-species ionosphere and a multi-species neutral atmosphere, and uses the IRI 2007, the MISIS 2000 and the IGRF 10 models as input parameters for ionosphere, neutral atmosphere and Earth’s magnetic field, respectively. The ion-neutral collision frequencies of all the species are combined through the momentum transfer collision frequency equation, and different percentages of electron-neutral collisions were artificially included for studying the implication of such increase in the zonal electric field, which resulted ranging from 0.13 to 0.49 mV/m between the 8 and 18 h (LT), under quiet magnetic conditions.  相似文献

Incoherent scatter measurements of ion drift velocities obtained by the quadristatic incoherent scatter sounder of Saint-Santin have been used to analyse midlatitude electrodynamic during the GTMS period of June 1984. June, 26, 1984 (first day of this period) is used as a magnetically quiet reference day in this study. The following results are obtained : 1) On June 27, the electric field and neutral wind disturbances could be interpreted by the sole action of the ionospheric disturbance dynamo process, 2) On June 28, two physical processes are invoked to interpret the observations : the ionospheric disturbance dynamo and the direct penetration of magnetospheric convection electric fields.  相似文献

近几年卫星空间电场测量经常证认出局地非线性离子静电波,它们可能与极光粒子加速有直接关系。这些静电波被认为或者是离子声波模的演化,或者是静电离子逥旋波模的演化结果。本文研究了磁场中斜传播小振幅离子非线性波的演化,得到非线性Schrodinger方程。结果表明离子声孤波和离子迴旋孤波都是可能的。计算结果与卫星S(3-3)电场测量比较,可以很好说明部分测量结果。   相似文献
