An efficient method of passive emitter location   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The problem of locating a stationary emitter from passive bearing and frequency measurements taken by a moving and autonomously operating sensor along its trajectory is considered. The estimation procedure based on bearings only is quite different from that based on frequency measurements. From the Cramer-Rao (CR) analysis of the single-measurement case, the characteristic features of each method become transparent and an intuitive understanding of both methods is provided. One of the major results is that the orientation of the error ellipses of the bearings method (BM) and frequency method (FM) differ significantly. From this a considerable integration gain in accuracy results, when processing the combined set of bearing and frequency measurements. The results of the theoretical CR analysis are verified in a numerical simulation based on the maximum-likelihood (ML) estimation. The simulations demonstrate that a combined method is definitely superior to BM and FM with respect to the bias and the size of the error ellipses  相似文献

It is well known that the position of a stationary radar can be estimated by a single moving observer from angle and/or frequency measurements taken passively at different points in its trajectory. Depending on the measurement set different localization methods result: the bearing method (BM), the frequency method (FM), and the combined method (CM). Previous studies analyze the three methods on the basis of constant emitter frequencies. However, radars with constant emitter frequencies are not realistic. Frequency drift and frequency hopping have to be taken into account. Therefore, to include radars the emitter model has been extended by drift and frequency hopping in this study, and the estimation methods have been reanalyzed. The effects of the model extensions become transparent in a parametric Cramer-Rao (CR) analysis. Passive localization by a single moving observer using Time of Arrival (TOA) only with an unknown Signal Repetition Interval (SRI) is investigated in this paper. Observability analysis is performed first. The observability condition for uniquely determining the emitter position and SRI is derived. The conditional Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) is also analyzed. It is found that the ambiguity of the SRI integer of the first TOA does not affect the theoretical estimation precision of the emitter position and SRI. A Reference-Fixed Differential TOA (RFDTOA)-based Iterative Maximum Likelihood Estimator (IMLE) is proposed, which only needs O(M) computational operations. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the Mean Square Error (MSE) of the proposed algorithm could attain the CRLB with moderate Gaussian measurement noise.  相似文献

The position of a source of radiation is often obtained from bearing data, taken over an interval of time, and combining it with navigation data. A new method using total least squares (TLS) has been suggested for the accurate estimation of an emitter location when bearing observation errors are random. Further, an iterative two-stage approach involving TLS and Kalman filtering is developed for accurate estimation of the emitter location when bearing observation errors are an algebraic sum of random and systematic errors. Position location algorithms, using data from electronic surveillance systems have, for the most part, been based upon statistical analysis of the points of intersection of the lines of bearing. These triangulation ion algorithms may well minimize the effect of random measurement errors on the location estimate, but few existing algorithms account for systematic (bias) errors. An algorithm based upon intersecting circles which eliminates certain types of systematic error is presented with simulation data utilized to compare the position location estimates obtained from both triangulation and circulation algorithms.  相似文献

An array of n sensors at known locations receives the signal from an emitter whose location is desired. By measuring the time differences of arrival (TDOAs) between pairs of sensors, the range differences (RDs) are available and it becomes possible to compute the emitter location. Traditionally geometric solutions have been based on intersections of hyperbolic lines of position (LOPs). Each measured TDOA provides one hyperbolic LOP. In the absence of measurement noise, the RDs taken around any closed circuit of sensors add to zero. A bivector is introduced from exterior algebra such that when noise is present, the measured bivector of RDs is generally infeasible in that there does not correspond any actual emitter position exhibiting them. A circuital sum trivector is also introduced to represent the infeasibility; a null trivector implies a feasible RD bivector. A 2-step RD Emitter Location algorithm is proposed which exploits this implicit structure. Given the observed noisy RD bivector Δ, (1) calculate the nearest feasible RD bivector Δˆ, and (2) calculate the nearest point to the ( 3n) planes of position, one for each of the triads of elements of Δˆ. Both algorithmic steps are least squares (LS) and finite. Numerical comparisons in simulation show a substantial improvement in location error variances  相似文献

A scheme is suggested for the passive location of radio emitter position by using a mobile direction finder. The vehicle carrying the direction finder is made to maneuver such that the apparent direction of arrival is held constant. The resulting trajectory of the vehicle is a logarithmic spiral. The true direction of arrival can be obtained by monitoring the parameters of the spiral trajectory without using the value of the direction fimder reading. Two specific algorithms to eliminate direction finder bias are presented and their sensitivity to random errors in measurement assessed.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of locating a stationary coherent emitter via a single moving platform making frequency measurements in the presence of aperture state uncertainty. It is shown that the estimated emitter location is most sensitive to the receiving aperture velocity uncertainty. The required aperture velocity accuracy is determined through a noninfinitesimal perturbation analysis. A solution to location accuracy enhancement with a minimal hardware addition is attempted. It is shown that this can be achieved by mounting a high-resolution tri-axis microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer at the aperture to measure its velocity, which can deviate significantly from that estimated by the on-board navigation system. The Doppler shifts of the GPS signal carrier frequency, whenever it can be acquired through the aperture, are also considered as a way to aid the aperture velocity measurement. A decentralized, federated processing method for the aperture velocity estimate referenced at the aperture, integrating all measurement data, is presented. An upper bound for the error of aperture velocity estimate is derived. The potential for significant accuracy enhancement for emitter location is demonstrated.  相似文献

A new processing technique is presented for identifying individual pulse trains in a buffer load of pulse time-of-arrival (TOA) data from radar warning receiver sets currently in use for electronic warfare (EW). The method is based on the numerical characteristics of the matrix of the differences of the TOA data points. In particular, for a uniform pulse repetition interval (PRI) emitter, this matrix is a symmetrical harmonic Toeplitz matrix the inverse of which has banded tridiagonal form. N.M. Blachman (1989) presented a method for combining the two-dimensional target location ellipses using the equation of an ellipse. A method is presented for combining N-dimensional location ellipsoids by using the location covariance matrix. The general result is formulated in simple matrix form. In this paper, a model-based adaptive mobility control method for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) acting as a communication relay is presented, which is intended to improve the network performance in airborne multi-user systems. The mobility control problem is addressed by jointly considering unknown Radio Frequency(RF) channel parameters, unknown multi-user mobility, and non-available Angle of Arrival(AoA) information of the received signal. A Kalman filter and a least-square-based estimation algorithm are used to predict the future user positions and estimate the RF channel parameters between the users and the UAV, respectively. Two different relay application cases are considered: end-to-end and multi-user communications. A line search algorithm is proposed for the former, with its stability given and proven, whereas a simplified gradient-based algorithm is proposed for the latter to provide a target relay position at each decision time step, decreasing the two-dimensional search to a one-dimensional search. Simulation results show that the proposed mobility control algorithms can drive the UAV to reach or track the optimal relay position movement, as well as improving network performance. The proposed method reflects the properties of using different metrics as objective network performance functions.  相似文献

We consider the design of a sensor network for detecting an emitter which if present is known to be located in an interval but whose exact position is unknown. We seek to minimize the total system power consumption subject to detection performance constrains by carefully choosing the thresholds and positions of the sensors. Toward this goal, we propose an iterative algorithm for the optimization problem. Numerical results are given to provide insights into the design of such networks. We show that random sensor placement can perform poorly, in contrast to what many currently believe.  相似文献

A technique for target location estimation in through-the-wall radar imaging applications is presented. The algorithm corrects for the shifts in target positions due to ambiguities in the wall thickness and dielectric constant. We consider uniform walls and perform imaging using wideband beamforming, with the antennas placed against the wall. Behind-the-wall images are obtained using different structures of transmit and receive arrays. For each array structure, a trajectory of the shifts in the target locations is generated assuming different wall parameters. The target position is estimated as the intersection of the corresponding trajectories. The paper shows that for unknown wall thickness or dielectric constant, the point of intersection is the true target position. In the case when both parameters are unknown, the estimated target location is in close proximity to the target true position. It is demonstrated that the performance of the proposed technique is rather insensitive to the target location behind the wall and to various array structures.  相似文献

The analysis of resonant converters including the capacitance of the switches is presented. New dc characteristics are obtained for the series, parallel, and series-parallel resonant converters (SPRC). The operating regions where the converters operate with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) are determined as a function of the switch capacitance. The more pronounced effect can be seen in the series resonant converter (SRC), while the parallel resonant converter (PRC) is the most insensitive.
