A rank detector is used to detect instantaneous received power fades in a tracking radar. On detection of a fade, censorship of the angular position measurement is implemented in a Kalman tracking filter. Random-noise radar has been applied successfully to range measurement, velocity estimation and terrain/target imaging. For applications involving stationary targets, long integration times and process averaging are easily tolerated. In situations where the target or radar platform moves at high speed, the impact of this relative motion on system design should be considered. This work addresses the statistical performance of a generic random-noise radar receiver and examines the inter-relationships between design parameters and performance tradeoffs. Complementing this examination, a random-noise monopulse system is also investigated as a possible architecture for real-time angle estimation. Simulations and numerical illustrations provide the basis of processor design and performance prediction.  相似文献

Recently, significant progress has been made in the development of physics-based, knowledge-aided (KA) signal processing strategies supported by improvements in real-time embedded computing architectures. These developments provide designers of advanced sensor systems an unprecedented degree of flexibility when implementing next generation adaptive sensor systems. In the case of radar, this has been manifested in the first ever, real-time, KA space-time adaptive processing (KA-STAP) system for advanced clutter/interference suppression. This paper provides exemplars of real-world effects giving rise to the need for "intelligent" adaptation schemes and overviews the KA approach to sensor signal processing in some detail. This paper describes an innovative concept for knowledge-based control of space-time adaptive processing (STAP) for airborne early warning radar. The knowledge-based approach holds potential for significant performance improvements over classical STAP processing in nonhomogeneous environments by taking advantage of a priori knowledge. An airport surveillance function operating on surface movement radar (SMR) images is proposed and evaluated. The main contributions presented are the statistical error models of the target centroid and attributes extracted from radar images, developed and applied to the design of its main data processing blocks. Besides a multihypothesis image-to-tracks assignment method, a tracking filter using the extracted orientation and a classification scheme based on target attributes is detailed. An ultrawideband (UWB) random-noise radar operating in the 1-2 GHz frequency band has been developed and field-tested up to a 200 m range at the Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory (ERSL) of the University of Nebraska. A unique heterodyne correlation technique based on a delayed transmitted waveform using a photonic delay line has been used to inject coherence within this system. The performance of this radar in the presence of ground reflections is investigated analytically and experimentally, and the mitigating effects of UWB waveform on multipath-induced interference are analyzed. In addition, the ground clutter statistics, in a look-down mode, are theoretically established and experimentally verified. The performance of this radar in detecting clutter embedded targets with small radar cross section (RCS) is also experimentally examined.  相似文献

Space-based radar (SBR) is capable of providing flexible wide-area coverage of air, land, and sea targets. Numerous studies have been carried out in the United States and Canada in recent years to investigate different concepts for SBR. The design of a suitable radar signal processor (RSP) is challenging due to the effects caused by the moving platform on target integration and clutter spectral spread. A candidate RSP is described that uses a corporate fed array (CFA) antenna as its primary radar sensor. The algorithmic definitions of the signal processing functions are provided; the relationships between these functions and the reasons for their location in the signal processing chain are also discussed. The subject of this work is the detection and high resolution microwave imaging of objects moving on the ground and observed by an airborne radar. The proposed approach is based on a combined space-time and time-frequency processing. The space-time processing makes use of a linear array antenna and exploits the radar motion for filtering the received echoes in order to improve as much as possible the signal-to-disturbance ratio. The signal is then mapped onto the time-frequency domain, by computing its Wigner-Ville distribution, for a further filtering and for estimating its instantaneous frequency, necessary for the formation of a high resolution image of the moving object  相似文献

Previously reported experiments with stereoscopic viewing of high resolution radar pictures demonstrated improvements in detection sensitivity up to 7 dB. This paper presents continued research into automatic algorithmic techniques for employing stereo information. A simple two-stage model for a human observer is proposed, and here we investigate the utility of an existing automatic stereo processor technique in application to radar imagery. It is shown that results obtained with the automatic processor very closely resemble those obtained through actual stereo viewing of radar pictures.  相似文献

测试数据是民机试飞过程中的最终产物,是反映飞机系统状态、表明适航符合性的重要依据。随着大量先进航空总线在民机上的应用,测试数据的体量越发庞大、类型也更为复杂,为测试数据的处理和分析带来了巨大的挑战。对民机试飞测试数据的类型、存储特点和常用分析方法进行了研究,深入分析了试飞测试数据的处理和分析需求,立足于WPF(windows presentation foundation)平台,采用MVVM(Model-View-ViewModel)设计模式,使用了内存管理、DataBinding事件模型、反射等关键技术,集成了SciChart、时序数据库等组件,设计开发了民机试飞测试数据处理分析软件。软件实现了试飞测试数据的快速处理、分析及可视化,可完成多个数据文件的同时加载、进行1 Hz~16 kHz不同采样率下数据分析结果的可视化展示,经实际应用,满足了某国产大型客机的试飞需求。  相似文献

The author shows how to process deramped (e.g., typical spotlight mode) synthetic-aperture-radar (SAR) data using mode processors, with no restrictions on antenna pointing. The basis of the approach is that although the deramped data does not contain a spatially invariant two-dimensional response to a point target, the range-compressed deramped data does. Range compression of the deramped data is performed simply by Fourier transforming each range line. The method greatly increases the flexibility of current strip mode processors by extending their domain to a previously unsuitable class of data  相似文献

The performance of a radar target discrimination technique using multiple-frequency scattering amplitude without phase data is investigated. Based on the concept of natural resonance frequencies, the technique is aspect independent so that a priori information of the aspect angle is not necessary. The radar cross sections (RCSs) of spheroids are calculated numerically to simulate the received radar returns for distinguishing different spheroids and wires in the resonance frequency range by the proposed technique. By Monte Carlo simulation, the discrimination error rate is estimated as a function of the standard deviation of added noise. The numerical results show that the discrimination algorithm works well under moderately noisy situations and can be applied even in a high-resonance frequency range  相似文献

Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) holds tremendous potential for the new generation airborne surveillance radar, in which the phased array antennas and pulse Doppler processing mode are adopted. A new STAP approach using the multiple-beam and multiple Doppler channels is presented here for airborne phased array radar. The approach with space-time multiple-beam (STMB) architecture is robust to array errors and has very low system degrees of freedom (DOFs). Hence, it has low sample support requirement and it is very suitable for the practical planar phased array radar under nonhomogeneous clutter environments. Meanwhile, a new nonhomogeneous detector (NHD) based on the correlation dimension (CD) is also proposed here, which is used as an effective method to screen tracing data prior to detection processing. It can further improve the performance of the STAP approach in the severely nonhomogeneous clutter environments. Therefore, a scheme that incorporates the correlation dimension nonhomogeneity detector (CD-NHD) with the STMB is recommended, which we term CD-NHD-STMB. The experimental simulation results indicate that: 1) the STMB processor is robust to array element error and has high performance under nonhomogeneous clutter environments; 2) the CD-NHD is also effective on the nonhomogeneous clutter. As a result, the CD-NHD-STMB scheme is robust to array element error and nonhomogeneous clutter, and therefore available for airborne phased array radar applications.  相似文献

The extended Kalman filter (EKF) has been widely used as a nonlinear filtering method for radar tracking problems. However, it has been found that if cross-range measurement errors of the target position are large, the performance of the conventional EKF degrades considerably due to nonnegligible nonlinear effects. A new filtering algorithm for improving the tracking performance with radar measurements is developed based on the fact that correct evaluation of the measurement error covariance is possible in the Cartesian coordinate system. The proposed algorithm may be viewed as a modification of the EKF in which the variance of the range measurement errors is evaluated in an adaptive manner. The filter structure facilitates the incorporation of the sequential measurement processing scheme, and this makes the resulting algorithm favorable to both estimation accuracy and computational efficiency. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method offers superior performance in comparison to previous methods. Moreover, our developed algorithm provides some useful insight into the radar tracking problem  相似文献

A new processing technique is presented for identifying individual pulse trains in a buffer load of pulse time-of-arrival (TOA) data from radar warning receiver sets currently in use for electronic warfare (EW). The method is based on the numerical characteristics of the matrix of the differences of the TOA data points. In particular, for a uniform pulse repetition interval (PRI) emitter, this matrix is a symmetrical harmonic Toeplitz matrix the inverse of which has banded tridiagonal form. If modern airborne radar systems are to function properly, the radar antenna radiation patterns must meet certain specifications. Until recently, most radar antennas were designed and tested in a clean antenna environment, i.e., there is no near field scattering from host structures or radome effects. However, these higher order effects are the matter of increasing concern with added performance demands in the ever-increasing jammer and clutter interference environments. We investigated the capabilities and limitations of currently available analysis techniques and computer codes for installed performance of airborne radar antenna systems. Then we developed an extended ray-optical technique that could predict total installed performance of airborne radar antenna systems, i.e., the near field scattering from aircraft structures and radome effects. The new analysis technique utilized a ray-tracing method in both airframe and radome simulation. Thus, it can efficiently predict the total installed performance of large radar antenna systems on an aircraft structure  相似文献
