A new type of synthetic radar, the circular synthetic radar, uses a simple interferometer whose elements are mounted at the ends of a horizontal boom rotating about a vertical mast. Pulses are radiated alternately ?in-phase? and in ?phase-quadrature.? The returning echoes are also detected incoherently, both ?in-phase? and in ?phase-quadrature.? The four distinct outputs are fed into an on-line computer which, after a Fourier analysis, synthesizes a mapping function of the azimuthal distribution of targets.  相似文献

An analysis is presented of the motion of a single axis rate gyroscope mounted in a space vehicle, which is simultaneously accelerating and spinning about the output and spin axis, respectively, of the gyro. The time-varying acceleration and deceleration ?x(t) and the spin rate ?z(t) of the vehicle are unknown but bounded functions of time t. It is shown that the motion of the gyro remains bounded if the bound ?*2 on the uncertainty in ?z(t) does not exceed some threshold ?*2 and that this threshold depends on the various parameters of the gyro. Furthermore, by a proper selection of the gyro parameters, its motion can be forced to remain in a small neighborhood (called region of ultimate boundedness) of the origin in ?-? plane after a certain finite interval of time for any bounded uncertain ?x(t) and ?z(t). Analytical relations are derived for the selection of gyro parameters to keep the error caused in the measurement of the input rate due to ?x and ?z within any given limit.  相似文献

A generalized, optimal filtering solution is presented for the target tracking problem. Applying optimal filtering theory to the target tracking problem, the tracking index, a generalized parameter proportional to the ratio of the position uncertainty due to the target maneuverability to that due to the sensor measurement, is found to have a fundamental role not only in the optimal steady-state solution of the stochastic regulation tracking problem, but also in the track initiation process. Depending on the order of the tracking model, the tracking index solution yields a closed form, consistent set of generalized tracking gains, relationships, and performances. Using the tracking index parameter, an initializing and tracking procedure in recursive form, realizes the accuracy of the Kalman filter with an algorithm as simple as the well-known ? ? ? filter or ? ? ? ? ? filter depending on the tracking order.  相似文献

A serious degradation of detection probability (Pd) in a cellaverging constant false alarm rate (CA-CFAR) detector is known to be caused by the presence of an interfering target in the set of reference cells. A technique which is often used to prevent excessive false alarms at clutter ?edges? is a ?greatest of? (GO) selection between the leading and lagging sets of cells (GO-CFAR). However, it is demonstrated for a Rayleigh target that the abovementioned suppression effect is more acute in the GO-CFAR. Practically, detection of closely separated targets is almost inhibited. Selection of the ?smallest of? (SO) the means for the adaptive threshold has been proposed to alleviate this problem. An analytic expression for Pd of this detector is also derived, and it is shown that though it does prevent the suppression effect, a large sensitivity loss is introduced unless the number of reference cells is sufficiently large. A modified CO-CFAR detector, combining a ?censoring? circuit, is proposed for automatic detection in a complex nonhomogeneous environment.  相似文献

The transient responses during the initialization phase of a first-order ?-? tracking filter and a second-order Kalman filter are evaluated as a function of radar measurement accuracy and the probability of receiving valid data at the prescribed intervals. Monte Carlo simulation results are complemented by analysis of the filtering processes and curves are presented which clearly define the deterioration in filter performance attributable to reduced probabilities of data acquisition. In addition, the responses of ?-? and Kalman filters are shown to be identical when the ?, ? gains are selected optimally.  相似文献

Ultraviolet emission line profiles have been measured on 15-29 September 1997 for H I 1216 Å, O VI 1032, 1037 Å and Mg X 625 Å in a polar coronal hole, at heliographic heights ? (in solar radii) between 1.34 and 2.0. Observations of H I 1216 Å and the O VI doublet from January 1997 for ? = 1.5 to 3.0 are provided for comparison. Mg X 625 Å is observed to have a narrow component at ? = 1.34 which accounts for only a small fraction of the observed spectral radiance, and a broad component that exists at all observed heights. The widths of O VI broad components are only slightly larger than those for H I at ? = 1.34, but are significantly larger at ? = 1.5 and much larger for ? > 1.75. In contrast, the Mg X values are less than those of H I up to 1.75 and then increase rapidly up to at least ? = 2.0, but never reach the values of O VI.  相似文献

The trajectory of a maneuvering aircraft can be described by piecewise-constant-coefficient second-order polynomials which constitute a non-Gaussian process at the input of a linear fire control predictor. Consequently, the ?on- target? probability which is determined by the predictor output cannot be analytically evaluated. Using this a priori assumption for this type of target trajectory, the structure of a finite-time polynomial filter is determined. By using the ?go-no-go? characteristic of the loss function, the smoothing time of the predictor can be optimized to yield the highest possible ?on-target? probability. The results obtained constitute lower bounds whose validity is verified by digital simulation of the system. This shows that, on the average, they are 15 percent below the exact values. The simulation program is also used in a comparative study, with a conventional predictor and a Wiener-type predictor. The results demonstrate that the finite time polynomial predictor is markedly superior to both systems for a wide range of parameters and their combinations.  相似文献

This paper describes two methods of generating an analog frequency-modulated waveform by the use of a small number of digital samples of the ?chirp? waveform. The number of digital samples required is a function of the time-bandwidth product. For certain values of time-bandwidth product, this type of signal generation becomes extremely efficient. Several proofs are offered which show how to select ?optimum? values of time-bandwidth products. Two hardware implementations are suggested. One is based on the use of modulo arithmetic and a small stored memory table. The second method utilizes the inherent signal symmetries available if ?optimum? time-bandwidth products are selected. The symmetrical signal patterns are stored in recirculating reversible shift registers which can be read out at high speeds.  相似文献

The detection performance of a single-channel MTI receiver with post-detection integration, for a Swerling I target, has been evaluated by a Monte Carlo simulation. It is shown that a fairly good approximation is obtained by applying the ?effective number of independent integrated samples? to the standard detection curves. The ?I-only? loss is about 2 dB for integration of more than 20 pulses; thus this receiver is acceptable if implementation constraints dictate it.  相似文献

The LMS adaptive array requires an integrator in each weight feedback control loop. In practice the integrator is often replaced by a low-pass filter, i.e., by a filter with a single pole at s = - ? (where s is complex frequency). The effect of this pole position on array performance is examined. It is shown that to obtain optimal performance from the array, ? must be less than k?2, where k is the loop gain and ?2 is the thermal noise power per element. When at exceeds k?2, the output signal-to-inter ference-plus-noise ratio from the array is degraded for intermediate values of interference power.  相似文献

Using a Lyapunov function, a condition for boundedness of the gyro motion is derived. The ratio of specularly reflected to scattered power received by a radar altimeter is shown to be related to a parameter q = (4K2/?0 ?2), where K is the Fresnel reflection coefficient, ?0 is the differential scattering coefficient, and ? is the effective beamwidth. The critical range of rms surface roughness is shown to be from 0.1 to 0.335 ? for examples from 100-ns-pulse aircraft radar to 10-ns-pulse spacecraft radar over water.  相似文献

Solar cycle 23 witnessed the most complete set of observations of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) associated with the Ground Level Enhancement (GLE) events. We present an overview of the observed properties of the GLEs and those of the two associated phenomena, viz., flares and CMEs, both being potential sources of particle acceleration. Although we do not find a striking correlation between the GLE intensity and the parameters of flares and CMEs, the solar eruptions are very intense involving X-class flares and extreme CME speeds (average ~2000?km/s). An M7.1 flare and a 1200?km/s CME are the weakest events in the list of 16 GLE events. Most (80?%) of the CMEs are full halos with the three non-halos having widths in the range 167 to 212?degrees. The active regions in which the GLE events originate are generally large: 1290?msh (median 1010?msh) compared to 934?msh (median: 790?msh) for SEP-producing active regions. For accurate estimation of the CME height at the time of metric type?II onset and GLE particle release, we estimated the initial acceleration of the CMEs using flare and CME observations. The initial acceleration of GLE-associated CMEs is much larger (by a factor of 2) than that of ordinary CMEs (2.3?km/s2 vs. 1?km/s2). We confirmed the initial acceleration for two events for which CME measurements are available in the inner corona. The GLE particle release is delayed with respect to the onset of all electromagnetic signatures of the eruptions: type?II bursts, low frequency type?III bursts, soft X-ray flares and CMEs. The presence of metric type?II radio bursts some 17?min (median: 16?min; range: 3 to 48?min) before the GLE onset indicates shock formation well before the particle release. The release of GLE particles occurs when the CMEs reach an average height of ~3.09?R s (median: 3.18?R s ; range: 1.71 to 4.01?R s ) for well-connected events (source longitude in the range W20–W90). For poorly connected events, the average CME height at GLE particle release is ~66?% larger (mean: 5.18?R s ; median: 4.61?R s ; range: 2.75–8.49?R s ). The longitudinal dependence is consistent with shock accelerations because the shocks from poorly connected events need to expand more to cross the field lines connecting to an Earth observer. On the other hand, the CME height at metric type?II burst onset has no longitudinal dependence because electromagnetic signals do not require magnetic connectivity to the observer. For several events, the GLE particle release is very close to the time of first appearance of the CME in the coronagraphic field of view, so we independently confirmed the CME height at particle release. The CME height at metric type?II burst onset is in the narrow range 1.29 to 1.8?R s , with mean and median values of 1.53 and 1.47?R s . The CME heights at metric type?II burst onset and GLE particle release correspond to the minimum and maximum in the Alfvén speed profile. The increase in CME speed between these two heights suggests an increase in Alfvénic Mach number from?2 to?3. The CME heights at GLE particle release are in good agreement with those obtained from the velocity dispersion analysis (Reames in Astrophys. J. 693:812, 2009a; Astrophys. J. 706:844, 2009b) including the source longitude dependence. We also discuss the implications of the delay of GLE particle release with respect to complex type?III bursts by ~18?min (median: 16?in; range: 2 to 44?min) for the flare acceleration mechanism. A?similar analysis is also performed on the delay of particle release relative to the hard X-ray emission.  相似文献

Range-Doppler imaging systems are degraded by the motion of an object through its resolution cells during image formation. Given the range resolution dR, the cross-range (azimuth) resolution dA, and the wavelength ?, the image's range extent DR and cross-range extent DA must be constrained by ?DR ? 4d2A; ?DA ? 4dAdR to avoid significant image degradation. By implication, we can image a rectangular area A ? DADR. We show that, in general, the acceptable image area is a parallelogram which becomes a rectangle only in the special case of unsquinted, broadside operation. Furthermore, the actual useful image area within a rectangular map of range extent DR and crossrange extent DA decreases as the squint angle measured from broadside increases.  相似文献

In this paper,the effects of icing on an NACA 23012 airfoil have been studied.Experiments were applied on the clean airfoil,runback ice,horn ice,and spanwise ridge ice at a Reynolds number of 0.6 106 over angles of attack from 8° to 20°,and then results are compared.Generally,it is found that ice accretion on the airfoil can contribute to formation of a flow separation bubble on the upper surface downstream from the leading edge.In addition,it is made clear that spanwise ridge ice provides the greatest negative effect on the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil.In this case,the stall angle drops about 10° and the maximum lift coefficient reduces about50% which is hazardous for an airplane.While horn ice leads to a stall angle drop of about 4° and a maximum lift coefficient reduction to 21%,runback ice has the least effect on the flow pattern around the airfoil and the aerodynamic coefficients so as the stall angle decreases 2° and the maximum lift reduces about 8%.  相似文献

This correspondence considers the response of the PLL near threshold to an input consisting of a modulated carrier and white, Gaussian noise. For high input signal-to-noise power ratios ?, the output noise power is Gaussian with a parabolic spectrum. As ? is decreased, the PLL tends to lose lock which gives rise to impulses or ?spikes? in the output with a resulting white power spectrum. The additional output noise due to these ?spikes? causes a threshold in the output signal-to-noise ratio. Unfortunately the loss of lock rate in the PLL depends on the modulation as well as the noise power. A semiempirical approximate expression for the loss of lock rate as a function of the noise and sinusoidal frequency modulation is presented and is used to determine the optimum design procedure for PLL's to demodulate FM signals of varying modulation indexes, ?.  相似文献

Tracking accuracies for the radial component of motion are computed for a track-while-scan radar system which obtains position and rate data during the dwell time on a target These results will be of interest to persons developing trackers for pulse Doppler surveillance radars. The normalized accuracies, computed for a two state Kalman tracking filter with white noise maneuver capability, are shown to depend upon two parameters, r = 4?0/?aT2 and s = ?dT/?0. The symbols ?0 and ?d are the position and rate measurement accuracies, respectively, ?a is the standard deviation of the white noise maneuver process and T is the antenna scan time. The scalar tracking filter equations are derived and numerical results are presented. Lower steady state tracking errors plus the earlier attainment of steady state accuracies are the direct consequence of incorporating the rate measurements into the tracking filter.  相似文献
