Planetary and gravity waves contribute significantly to the variability of atmospheric parameters in the middle atmosphere. In the mesosphere and lower thermosphere the wave fluctuations are sufficiently large to often mask the prevailing or mean state of the atmosphere. This review summarizes current knowledge about the motion, temperature and density fields associated with both large and small scale waves and stresses improved understanding that has come from recent ground based, rocket and satellite investigations.  相似文献

The two XUV–EUV spectrometers on SOHO have collected a large amount of data in the 6000–106 K solar plasma temperature range. These data have allowed us to greatly enhance our knowledge of the processes acting in the solar atmosphere, from the chromosphere to the corona. Some results on the quiet Sun structure (network, quiet Sun versus coronal hole), on the dynamics (velocities, waves, transient events), and the main characteristics of the quiet Sun atmosphere are presented and discussed.  相似文献

针对北京大学空间物理与应用技术研究所研制的两台大气波动监测仪近三年的观测数据,对这一时段内所观测到的重力波和次声波周期尺度扰动的形态特征、谱结构特征及其在时间分布上的统计特征进行了分析. 给出了几例雷暴、地震等事件中观测到的大气扰动,并揭示了这些事件期间观测到的与地面大气扰动周期尺度相类似的电离层扰动. 结果表明,北京大学研制的大气波动监测仪可有效记录到地面的微弱大气扰动,观测数据可用于进行岩石圈-大气层-电离层之间的耦合研究.   相似文献

本文利用NIMBUS-7SAMS资料分析了东经100度子午线上的两个站点(67.5°N和42.5°N)在10mb和0.0827mb高度上从1978年底至1982年间的大气温度,获得几年的平流层冬季增温结果.在1978/1979年和1981年初的冬季,高纬站点几天内出现的平流层增温最大幅度可达65K.对平流层增温的谱分析结果指出,在高纬冬季平流层有很强的16天、32夭、21天周期的行星波。中纬冬季平流层增温幅度较小,约为20K.中纬的中间层高度上整年存在有5天、8天和16天的行星波。分析研究、南、北半球不同纬度的温度随经度的分布,得出高纬冬季平流层、中间层大气温度随经度有明显的变化。波数1和波数2的波有大的幅度(主要是波数1),从高纬到低纬,波幅逐渐减小在冬季的平流层和中间层大气中,波数1和波数2的行星波在短期内可强烈增强,引起平流层冬季增温。   相似文献

The Limb Infrared Monitor of the Stratosphere (LIMS) experiment utilized a 6-channel limb scanning infrared radiometer on the Nimbus 7 spacecraft, for the purpose of determining global distributions of temperature and trace constituents in the middle atmosphere (15–65 km) with high vertical resolution.LIMS observations provide a detailed picture of atmospheric variability during the disturbed winter of 1978/79. During January and February, three large disturbances caused simultaneous temperature changes through most of the global middle atmosphere. The amplitudes and phases of the planetary temperature and height waves show large variations during this time. Their values and derived quantities are larger than those resulting from data with lower vertical resolution. The Eliassen-Palm fluxes calculated for late January are in qualitative agreement with the observed acceleration of the zonal winds.  相似文献

利用1980年Nimbus-7卫星网络点资料(温度场)对中层大气行星波的空间结构进行诊断和分析后发现,行星波扰动主要集中于冬半球,夏半球及赤道地区上空的扰动则相对较弱,但也不可忽视.冬半球行星波扰动中的瞬变波部分可以跨过赤道向夏半球传播,且传播主要集中于20kin和70km两个高度层附近.波数1冬季以准定常行里波为主,夏季瞬变行星波与准定常行星波波幅相当.行星波扰动的波幅从冬到夏的衰减主要表现在波数1和波数2上,波数3变化不大.   相似文献

Utilizing many years of observation from deep space and near-earth spacecraft a theoretical understanding has evolved on how ions and electrons are accelerated in interplanetary shock waves. This understanding is now being applied to solar flare-induced shock waves propagating through the solar atmosphere. Such solar flare phenomena as γ-ray line and neutron emissions, interplanetary energetic electron and ion events, and Type II and moving Type IV radio bursts appear understandable in terms of particle accleration in shock waves.  相似文献

Gravity waves are recognized as an integral part of earth’s atmosphere which are mainly responsible for energy and momentum distribution among different layers and regions in the atmosphere. Various sources present in land, ocean, and atmosphere such as mountains, convection, jets and fronts etc. are responsible for gravity waves generation. Thunderstorms (deep convection) are one of the major sources of gravity waves in the tropical region, capable of generating waves with a wide range of frequencies and scales and significantly affecting the existing waves. Previous numerical studies have characterised the wave properties that are generated from thunderstorms, but there are no statistically quantified studies. In this paper, we have modelled the relationship between the latent heat generated inside a thunderstorm and the gravity wave properties at the geo-collocated points. Gravity waves are identified over Singapore radiosonde station (with data available until 30?km altitude with 12?h temporal resolution) in the stratosphere using wavelet studies. Based on the GROGRAT ray tracing methods to identify the thunderstorm locations, and RAMS cloud-resolving models simulations to obtain the latent heating of the thunderstorm, a regression analysis is performed using 200 cases of gravity waves. Furthermore, cloud-top momentum flux analysis is performed for various cases latent heat. This study is expected to provide more quantified and concrete information on the coupling between the thunderstorm and gravity wave which includes the variance in these relationships due to wave frequency spectrum and generation mechanisms.  相似文献

在考虑背景风场及大气耗散的条件下,建立了3维内重力波传输函数数值模式.分析了300 km高度3维传输函数在频率波数域的特性,并以近地面单位脉冲点源为激发源,得到了内重力波在3维空间中的时空分布.讨论了不同时空尺度地面方波源激发的内重力波在电离层高度的能量分布特征.结果表明,(1)对内重力波而言,背景大气相当于一个带通滤波器,只有波动周期和波长分别在15~30 min和200~400 km之间的重力波扰动最容易上传到300km高度;(2)在背景风场的作用下水平面上以同心圆扩散的波阵面以及垂直方向上成漏斗状的波阵面发生了变形,并且逆风方向比顺风方向更有利于声重力波由对流层向电离层高度传播;(3)300km高度对时间尺度和空间尺度分别在20~30 min和150~250 km之间的地面方波源响应的总能量最强.   相似文献

Among the multiple questions that the CASSINI/HUYGENS mission tries to answer is the likelihood of electric discharges in Titan's atmosphere. The instruments “Huygens Atmospheric Structure Instrument” and “Radio and Plasma Wave Science” will probe the electromagnetic emissions during the Huygens descent and Cassini flybys, respectively. Although no lightning was observed during Voyager's encounters with Titan in 1980 and 1981, this does not exclude the existence of lightning phenomena. Recent investigations show that lightning discharges could occur in the lower atmosphere, such as the detection of methane condensation clouds in the troposphere and the theoretical prediction of an electric field that would be sufficient enough to cause lightning. We present a numerical model of Titan's atmosphere with the aim of calculating the resonance frequencies and the atmospheric transparency to electromagnetic waves. The detection and measurement of these resonances, Schumann frequencies, by the Huygens probe, would show the existence of electric activity connected with lightning discharges in the atmosphere. As it happens with the Schumann frequencies of Earth, losses associated with the electric conductivity will make these frequencies to be lower than the theoretically predicted, the fundamental one being located between 11 and 15 Hz. An analytical study shows that the strong losses associated with the high conductivity make it impossible that an electromagnetic wave generated near the surface with a frequency of 10 MHz or lower reaches the outer part of Titan's atmosphere. Therefore the detection of electromagnetic waves coming from Titan's lower atmosphere by the RPWS instrument is very unlikely.  相似文献

Parameterization of dynamical and thermal effects of stationary orographic gravity waves (OGWs) generated by the Earth’s surface topography is incorporated into a numerical model of general circulation of the middle and upper atmosphere. Responses of atmospheric general circulation and characteristics of planetary waves at altitudes from the troposphere up to the thermosphere to the effects of OGWs propagating from the earth surface are studied. Changes in atmospheric circulation and amplitudes of planetary waves due to variations of OGW generation and propagation in different seasons are considered. It is shown that during solstices the main OGW dynamical and heat effects occur in the middle atmosphere of winter hemispheres, where changes in planetary wave amplitudes due to OGWs may reach up to 50%. During equinoxes OGW effects are distributed more homogeneously between northern and southern hemispheres.  相似文献

Propagation of dustion acoustic solitary waves (DIASWs) and double layers is discussed in earth atmosphere, using the Sagdeev potential method. The best model for distribution function of electrons in earth atmosphere is found by fitting available data on different distribution functions. The nonextensive function with parameter q=0.58 provides the best fit on observations. Thus we analyze the propagation of localized waves in an unmagnetized plasma containing nonextensive electrons, inertial ions, and negatively/positively charged stationary dust. It is found that both compressive and rarefactive solitons as well as double layers exist depending on the sign (and the value) of dust polarity. Characters of propagated waves are described using the presented model.  相似文献

利用全电流双流体模型分析了地面磁扰动信号在近地层大气中的传播.结果表明磁扰动信号的传播模式受中性粒子elax-elax离子碰撞频率、磁扰动频率、磁粘滞系数以及大气离化系数等参数的影响.中性粒子碰撞效应导致近地层大气中不存在阿尔芬波传播通道.当磁扰动频率远小于0.001Hz时,磁扰动传播存在趋肤效应,且在近地大气中从高往下逐渐增强;当磁扰动频率远大于0.001Hz时,磁扰动以类似于真空电磁波的模式在近地大气中传播.   相似文献

利用Nimbus-7卫星温度探测资料,计算了平流层和中间层的风场、位势高度扰动场,进行了行星波E-P通量分析.结果表明,中层大气中的准定常行星波,其定常分量不能跨过赤道上空的零风线,由于其幅度的起伏和相位的变化,激发的瞬变行星波分量不受赤道零风线的限制,可以从冬半球向夏半球传播,也可以从夏半球向冬半球传播.这种跨赤道传播为夏半球行星波的能量来源提供了一种解释.  相似文献

气流经过地形产生的山地波是大气重力波研究的重要类别之一.从大气运动的控制方程组出发,建立模拟地形产生的山地波及其传播过程的二维数值模式.利用水平背景风场、地形和垂直速度之间的关系,在模式中引入垂直速度扰动作为地形产生山地波的激发源.通过模拟该激发源引起的扰动即山地波在大气中的传播过程,再现了山地波的产生、传播及充分发展过程.通过分析水平波长、垂直波长、位温扰动、流线,在空间尺度上描述了山地波的产生、传播及充分发展的过程.在气流经过地形产生的山地波的传播过程中,其水平波长λx的范围为2.5~5km,垂直波长λz约为2.5km.这些结果与利用山地波线性理论计算的垂直波长一致,从而验证了本模式能够模拟地形产生的山地波及其传播过程,为深入了解山地波的产生过程及其在中高层大气中的传播机制和效应奠定了基础.   相似文献

从三维大气运动的基本控制方程出发, 基于MPI消息传递接口和区域分解的思想, 建立了模拟三维可压缩大气中重力波传播过程的并行数值模式. 在对垂直方向进行区域分解的基础上, 针对跳点网格的特点, 以垂直速度主格点线为子区域的下边界, 状态变量主格点线为子区域的上边界进行区域分解. 利用MPI消息传递接口来传递计算各子区域中变量时所要用到的相邻子区域上相应变量, 从而顺利地完成对整个计算域的并行计算. 根据线性重力波理论, 通过模拟小振幅重力波的传播过程对所建模式进行了验证. 结果表明, 模式可以很好地模拟小振幅重力波在三维空间中的传播过程, 模拟的重力波振幅随着传播高度的增加以指数形式增长, 对能量传播路径以及有效扰动位能和扰动动能的模拟结果均与理论预测的结果吻合很好. 另外, 随着进程个数的增加, 完成相同的计算量所用的计算时间也显著减少. 这表明本文建立的并行数值模式不但能够很好的模拟重力波的传播过程, 而且能够有效地节约计算时间.   相似文献
