The Lorentz force acting on an electrostatically charged spacecraft in the Earth's magnetic field provides a new propellantless means for controlling a spacecraft's orbit. Assuming that the Lorentz force is much smaller than the gravitational force, the perturbation of a charged spacecraft's orbit by the Lorentz force in the Earth's magnetic field, which is simplified as a titled rotating dipole, is studied in this article. Our research starts with the derivation of the equations of motion in geocentric equatorial inertial Cartesian coordinates using Lagrange mechanics, and then derives the Gauss variational equations involving Lorentz-force perturbation using a set of nodal inertial coordinates as an intermediate step. Subsequently, the approximate averaged changes in classical orbital elements, including single-orbit-averaged and one-day-averaged changes, are obtained by employing orbital averaging. We have found that the approximate analytic one-day-averaged changes in semi-major axis, eccentricity, and inclination are nearly zero, and those in the other three angular orbital elements are affected by J2 and Lorentz-force perturbations. This characteristic is applied to model bounded relative orbital motion in the presence of the Lorentz force, which is termed Lorentz-augmented J2-invariant formation. The necessary condition for J2-invariant formation is derived when the chief spacecraft's reference orbit is either circular or elliptical. It is shown that J2-invariant formation is easier to implement if the deputy spacecraft is capable of establishing electric charge. All conclusions drawn from the approximate analytic solutions are verified by numerical simulation.  相似文献

A non-singular analytical theory for the motion of high eccentricity satellite orbits under the influence of air drag is developed in terms of the Uniformly Regular Kustaanheimo and Stiefel (URKS) canonical elements, by assuming the atmosphere to be oblate with variation of density scale height with altitude. The series expansions include up to fourth-order terms of an independent variable Δ=λ2 (function of eccentric anomaly) and c (a small parameter dependent on the flattening of the atmosphere). Only two of the nine equations are solved analytically due to symmetry in the equations of motion. Comparison of the important orbital parameters semi-major axis and eccentricity up to 1000 revolutions, obtained with the present analytical solution and the KS theory, shows the superiority of the present solution over the KS elements analytical solution. The theory can be used effectively for the orbital decay of aero-assisted orbital transfer orbits during mission planning.  相似文献

We investigated periodic motions of the axis of symmetry of a model satellite of the Earth, which are similar to the motions of the longitudinal axes of the Mir orbital station in 1999–2001 and the Foton-M3 satellite in 2007. The motions of these spacecraft represented weakly disturbed regular Euler precession with the angular momentum vector of motion relative to the center of mass close to the orbital plane. The direction of this vector during the motion was not practically changed. The model satellite represents an axisymmetric gyrostat with gyrostatic moment directed along the axis of symmetry. The satellite moves in a circular orbit and undergoes the action of the gravitational torque. The motion of the axis of symmetry of this satellite relative to the absolute space is described by fourth-order differential equations with periodic coefficients. The periodic solutions to this system with special symmetry properties are constructed using analytical and numerical methods.  相似文献

Perturbation theory is applied to the Vinti problem—motion about an oblate spheroid—to include the gravitational effects of the sun and moon. The problem is formulated using the extended phase space method which introduces a new independent variable similar to the true anomaly. The disturbing Hamiltonian H1 for third bodies is of order J22 (second order) and the final goal is a theory including second order short and long period terms and third order secular terms. The current paper however carries the development only to the second order in the secular terms and the first order in the periodic terms. Problems of including the higher orders are discussed. Therefore, in the development of H1 all terms of order 10?9 or larger are retained. The lunar emphemeris retains terms to e2 in the lunar eccentricity. The perturbation analysis is carried out by means of Lie series and is developed through the first order only which is consistent with the final accuracy desired. The generating function W1 is obtained and separated into the long period, short period and secular terms. From W1 the coordinates are defined from the Lie series by means of a transformation equation. These coordinates are non-singular for small eccentricity and inclination. Because of the complexity of the equations all algebraic computations were accomplished by means of a computerized Poisson series manipulator developed at the Naval Research Laboratory.  相似文献

Saturn’s rotation relative to a center of mass is considered within an elliptic restricted three-body problem. It is assumed that Saturn is a solid under the action of gravity of the Sun and Jupiter. The motions of Saturn and Jupiter are considered elliptic with small eccentricities eS and eJ, respectively; the mean motion of Jupiter nJ is also small. We obtain the averaged Hamiltonian function for a small parameter of ε = nJ and integrals of evolution equations. The main effects of the influence of Jupiter on Saturn’s rotation are described: (α) the evolution of the constant parameters of regular precession for the angular momentum vector I2; (β) the occurrence of new libration zones of oscillations I2 near the plane of the celestial equator parallel to the plane of the Jupiter’s orbit; (γ) the occurrence of additional unstable equilibria of vector I2 at the points of the north and south poles of the celestial sphere and, as a result, the existence of homoclinic trajectories; and (δ) the existence of periodic trajectories with arbitrarily large periods near the homoclinic trajectory. It is shown that the effects of (β), (γ), and (δ) are caused by the eccentricity e of the Jupiter’s orbit and are practically independent of Jupiter’s mass (within satellite approximation).  相似文献

First order averaging is applied to the artificial satellite problem to obtain the averaged orbit which includes the secular, long and medium period effects of the oblateness of the Earth and the third body perturbations of the moon and sun. Perturbation theory is then used to recover the short period effects due to J2, the moon, and sun. The perturbation analysis is carried out by means of Lie series and is developed through the first order. Optimization of the resulting short period series was then accomplished in several steps: first all separate algebraic coefficients were precalculated and stored; then all redundant SIN/COS calls were eliminated; next all repetition of numeric and algebraic coefficients were precalculated in pairs; application of the distributive principle allowed a significant reduction in additions and multiplications; finally trigonometric identities were used to further reduce the SIN/COS computations. The result of this optimization along with an interpolator for the averaged equations of motion results in a computer program which requires only 16 the CPU time (with no loss in accuracy) of the original non-optimized test program.  相似文献

The European Retrievable Carrier (EURECA) is a platform to be launched, deployed and retrieved in low Earth orbit by the Space Shuttle.A newly developed analytical orbit prediction method is described which meets the severe requirements for EURECA's orbit propagation. It is based on an averaging procedure including the Earth's zonal harmonics J2, J3 and J4 and a refined treatment of the air drag perturbation where EURECA's large solar panels are taken into account. Some orbit prediction results are included. In order to offer more flexibility for the Shuttle retrieval of EURECA, it is proposed to execute a part of the rendezvous manoeuvres by EURECA. A corresponding strategy is described.  相似文献

Quasi-static microaccelerations of four satellites of the Foton series (nos. 11, 12, M-2, M-3) were monitored as follows. First, according to measurements of onboard sensors obtained in a certain time interval, spacecraft rotational motion was reconstructed in this interval. Then, along the found motion, microacceleration at a given onboard point was calculated according to the known formula as a function of time. The motion was reconstructed by the least squares method using the solutions to the equations of satellite rotational motion. The time intervals in which these equations make reconstruction possible were from one to five orbital revolutions. This length is increased with the modulus of the satellite angular velocity. To get an idea on microaccelerations and satellite motion during an entire flight, the motion was reconstructed in several tens of such intervals. This paper proposes a method for motion reconstruction suitable for an interval of arbitrary length. The method is based on the Kalman filter. We preliminary describe a new version of the method for reconstructing uncontrolled satellite rotational motion from magnetic measurements using the least squares method, which is essentially used to construct the Kalman filter. The results of comparison of both methods are presented using the data obtained on a flight of the Foton M-3.  相似文献

This paper describes the techniques of a vector approach to the solution of the differential equations of motion of a near-Earth satellite. The method provides a good stable foundation for developing the orbital elements, thus allowing an analytic approach to be used in subsidiary algorithms. The mathematical concepts used in these algorithms are explained, and equations are developed for calculating Earth and Moon eclipses, radiation zone crossings, atmospheric density effects, solar cell decay, look angles and a geographical ephemeris. Results are presented for the IRAS satellite, and show that prediction errors of less than 112 sec over one week or errors of less than 15 sec over 312 months are possible.  相似文献

We analyze the microacceleration measurements carried out onboard the Foton-11 satellite with the three-component accelerometer BETA. The microaccelerations were recorded virtually throughout the entire orbital flight of the Foton-11 satellite. The data obtained were analyzed in the following way. First they were used to determine the actual rotational motion of the satellite for several arbitrarily selected time intervals 4 h long. This problem was solved by constructing the approximation of the microacceleretation low-frequency component (previously determined from the data) by its calculated analog computed along the solutions to differential equations of rotational motion of the satellite. The approximation was made by the least squares method. As a result, those mathematical model parameters and the solutions to equations of motion were found that gave the best consistency of the microacceleretation low-frequency component and its calculated analog. Then the spectral analysis of the low-frequency component and its calculated analog was made. It was shown that, although basic harmonics of these functions coincided sufficiently well, some harmonics of the low-frequency component failed to be interpreted in terms of the satellite's rotational motion.  相似文献

In this work, the resonance problem in the artificial satellites motion is studied. The development of the geopotential includes the zonal harmonics J20 and J40 and the tesseral harmonics J22 and J42. Through an averaging procedure and successive Mathieu transformations, the order of dynamical system is reduced and the final system is solved by numerical integration. In the simplified dynamical model, three critical angles are studied. The half-width of the separatrix is calculated through a linearized model which describes the behavior of the dynamical system in a neighborhood of each critical angle. Through the resonance overlap criterion the possible regular and irregular motions are investigated by the time behavior of the semi-major axis, argument of perigee and eccentricity. The largest Lyapunov exponent is used as tool to verify the chaotic motion.  相似文献

We investigate the mode of spinning up a low-orbit satellite in the plane of its orbit. In this mode the satellite rotates around its principal central axis of the minimum moment of inertia which executes small oscillations with respect to the normal to the orbit plane; the angular velocity of the rotation around this axis several times exceeds the mean orbital motion. Gravitational and restoring aerodynamic moments are taken into account in the satellite’s equations of motion. A small parameter characterizing deviation of the satellite from a dynamically symmetric shape is introduced into the equations. A two-dimensional integral surface of the equations of motion, describing quasi-steady-state rotations of the satellite close to cylindrical precession of the corresponding symmetrical satellite in a gravitational field, has been studied by the method of small parameter and numerically. Such quasi-steady-state rotations are suggested to be considered as unperturbed motions of the satellite in the spin-up mode. Investigation of the integral surface is reduced to numerical solution of a periodic boundary value problem of a certain auxiliary system of differential equations and to calculation of quasi-steady-state rotations by the two-cycle method. A possibility is demonstrated to construct quasi-steady rotations by way of minimization of a special quadratic functional.  相似文献

The paper has studied the accuracy of the technique that allows the rotational motion of the Earth artificial satellites (AES) to be reconstructed based on the data of onboard measurements of angular velocity vectors and the strength of the Earth magnetic field (EMF). The technique is based on kinematic equations of the rotational motion of a rigid body. Both types of measurement data collected over some time interval have been processed jointly. The angular velocity measurements have been approximated using convenient formulas, which are substituted into the kinematic differential equations for the quaternion that specifies the transition from the body-fixed coordinate system of a satellite to the inertial coordinate system. Thus obtained equations represent a kinematic model of the rotational motion of a satellite. The solution of these equations, which approximate real motion, has been found by the least-square method from the condition of best fitting between the data of measurements of the EMF strength vector and its calculated values. The accuracy of the technique has been estimated by processing the data obtained from the board of the service module of the International Space Station (ISS). The reconstruction of station motion using the aforementioned technique has been compared with the telemetry data on the actual motion of the station. The technique has allowed us to reconstruct the station motion in the orbital orientation mode with a maximum error less than 0.6° and the turns with a maximal error of less than 1.2°.  相似文献

The planar librations of a satellite whose center of mass moves along an elliptic orbit are considered. It is assumed that not only the gravitational moment but also the forces of light pressure act upon the satellite. Account is taken of the fact that the right-hand sides of the differential equations are nonanalytic functions of the phase variables. When e 1, e being the orbit's eccentricity, the deformations of solutions are considered for the case of a satellite moving along a highly elongated orbit. Such transformation of the initial system of differential equations is carried out so that the new system becomes regular up to the value e = 1. A limit problem corresponding to the case e = 1 is considered. When the azimuth angle of the light source coincides with the direction to the pericenter, the dynamical system is reversible. In this case, the known families of the periodic solutions to the problem can be continued up to the limit case.  相似文献

ONERA developed, for studying the response of a propellant to a pressure or velocity fluctuation, an experimental rocket engine whose nozzle throat area can be modulated by a toothed disk. The paper presents a linearized theory of the functioning of this engine in the low frequency domain, i.e. when there is no wave propagation within the combuster. To describe the functioning of this motor, the Ryazantsev-Novozhilov method, which assumes that the gas response is instantaneous, is used. This analysis takes into account the erosion and radiation effects, the combustion efficiency and the thermal losses through the walls. Two particular cases are described, for two values of the Damköhler parameter D1 = tctth, where tc is the residence time in the combuster and tth the characteristic thermal time of the heat penetration into the solid propellant. These two cases correspond, one to a classical propellant D1 > 1, the other to a particular propellant of low burning rate (Jb ? 0.2 to 0.4 mm s?1) D1 < 1. The stability conditions are analysed as well as the pressure amplitute and phase as a function of the nozzle throat modulation frequency.Still in linearized theory, the complete solutions of the problem are presented, using a method of numerical resolution.  相似文献

The spectrum analyzer AKR-X onboard the Interball-1 satellite at the beginning (August–October 1995) and at the end (August–October 2000) of satellite operation in perigees of its orbital motion recorded and analyzed electromagnetic emissions of the inner regions of the Earth’s plasmasphere in the frequency band 100–1500 kHz at distances of 1.1–1.8 R E. The observations have shown that the electromagnetic modes (the Z and LO modes escaping the magnetosphere) which are formed at the altitudes 600–4000 km are associated with the subauroral nonthermal continuum and with the recently discovered kilometric continuum. There are noticeable differences in the spectral character of these emissions during the minimum (1996) and maximum (2000) solar activity, when, as a rule, the LO mode escaping the plasmaphere and the continua are not present.  相似文献

The stationkeeping of symmetric Walker constellations is analyzed by considering the perturbations arising from a high order and degree Earth gravity field and the solar radiation pressure. These perturbations act differently on each group of spacecraft flying in a given orbital plane, causing a differential drift effect that would disrupt the initial symmetry of the constellation. The analysis is based on the consideration of a fictitious set of rotating reference frames that move with the spacecraft in the mean sense, but drift at a rate equal to the average drift rate experienced by all the vehicles over an extended period. The frames are also allowed to experience the J2-precession such that each vehicle is allowed to drift in 3D relative to its frame. A two-impulse rendezvous maneuver is then constructed to bring each vehicle to the center of its frame as soon as a given tolerance deadband is about to be violated. This paper illustrates the computations associated with the stationkeeping of a generic Walker constellation by maneuvering each leading spacecraft within an orbit plane and calculating the associated velocity changes required for controlling the in-plane motions in an exacting sense, at least for the first series of maneuvers. The analysis can be easily extended to lower flying constellations, which experience additional perturbations due to drag.  相似文献

In this paper we calculate the effect of atmospheric dust on the orbital elements of a satellite. Dust storms that originate in the Martian surface may evolve into global storms in the atmosphere that can last for months can affect low orbiter and lander missions. We model the dust as a velocity-square depended drag force acting on a satellite and we derive an appropriate disturbing function that accounts for the effect of dust on the orbit, using a Lagrangean formulation. A first-order perturbation solution of Lagrange's planetary equations of motion indicates that for a local dust storm cloud that has a possible density of 8.323×10−10 kg m−3 at an altitude of 100 km affects the orbital semimajor axis of a 1000 kg satellite up −0.142 m day−1. Regional dust storms of the same density may affect the semimajor axis up to of −0.418 m day−1. Other orbital elements are also affected but to a lesser extent.  相似文献
