China launched its first operational GEO meteorological satellite, FY-2C, on a Long March-3A launch vehicle from Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 9:20 am Oct. 19, 2004. The 1.38-ton satellite entered GTO orbit 24 minutes after the takeoff of the rocket.
