Analysis of CFAR performance in Weibull clutter   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Recent interest has focused on order statistic-based (OS-based) algorithms for calculating radar detection thresholds. Previous analyses of these algorithms are extended, to determine closed-form approximations for the signal-to-clutter ratio required to achieve a particular probability of detection in clutter environments whose amplitude statistics are modeled by the Weibull distribution, and where the clutter dominates receiver noise. Performance is evaluated in both homogeneous and inhomogenous clutter. The analysis shows that the OS-based algorithm is quite robust against both interference and clutter edges. A method is suggested for improving performance at clutter inhomogeneities for short-range targets  相似文献

In a recent paper, general expressions were derived for the density and cumulative probability functions of the amplitude of a linear matched-filter output given a nonfluctuating target in a clutter-limited environment. These expressions were based on the clutter amplitude density function. The results are extended to calculate the cumulative probability function of the output of a linear matched filter used to detect a chi-square fluctuating target in a clutter-limited environment. The resulting method is applied to a common radar clutter model, and experimental sonar data.  相似文献

The generalized compound probability density function (GC-pdf) is presented for modeling high resolution radar clutter. In particular, the model is used to describe deviation of the speckle component from the Rayleigh to Weibull or other pdfs with longer tails. The GC-pdf is formed using the generalized gamma (GΓ) pdf to describe both the speckle and the modulation component of the radar clutter. The proposed model is analyzed and thermal noise is incorporated into it. The validation of the GC-pdf with real data is carried out employing the statistical moments as well as goodness-of-fit tests. A large variety of experimental data is used for this purpose. The GC-pdf outperforms the K-pdf in modeling high resolution radar clutter and reveals its structural characteristics  相似文献

The detection of incoherent pulse trains in compound-Gaussian disturbance with known spectral density is dealt with here. Two alternative approaches are investigated, The first, assuming perfect knowledge of the signal fluctuation law and implementing the Neyman-Pearson test on the observed waveform, turns out to be not applicable to the radar problem. The second, instead, relying on the generalized likelihood ratio optimization strategy, leads to a canonical detector, whose structure is independent of the clutter amplitude probability density function. Interestingly, this detector turns out to be constant false-alarm rate in the sense that threshold setting does not require any knowledge as to the clutter distribution, Moreover, since such a processor is not implementable in real situations, we also present an FFT-based (fast Fourier transform) suboptimum structure. Finally, we give closed-form formulas for the detection performance of both receivers, showing that both of them largely outperform the square-law detector, especially in the presence of very spiky clutter  相似文献

We present a method for predicting a tight upper bound on performance of a vote-based approach for automatic target recognition (ATR) in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. In such an approach, each model target is represented by a set of SAR views, and both model and data views are represented by locations of scattering centers. The proposed method considers data distortion factors such as uncertainty, occlusion, and clutter, as well as model factors such as structural similarity. Firstly, we calculate a measure of the similarity between a given model view and each view in the model set, as a function of the relative transformation between them. Secondly we select a subset of possible erroneous hypotheses that correspond to peaks in similarity functions obtained in the first step. Thirdly, we determine an upper bound on the probability of correct recognition by computing the probability that every selected hypothesis gets less votes than those for the model view under consideration. The problem of detecting radar targets against a background of coherent, correlated, non-Gaussian clutter is studied with a two-step procedure. In the first step, the structure of the amplitude and the multivariate probability density functions (pdfs) describing the statistical properties of the clutter is derived. The starting point for this derivation is the basic scattering problem, and the statistics are obtained from an extension of the central limit theorem (CLT). This extension leads to modeling the clutter amplitude statistics by a mixture of Rayleigh distributions. The end product of the first step is a multidimensional pdf in the form of a Gaussian mixture, which is then used in step 2. The aim of step 2 is to derive both the optimal and a suboptimal detection structure for detecting radar targets in this type of clutter. The nature of physical phenomena is such that scattering from portions of an object, a number of objects, or clutter, is not completely unrelated; the underlying environment causes some degree of order in the phenomenon. Radar partial coherence theory describes a structure for the general target, or clutter, and its relationship to radar cross section, waveform coding, and the radar output signal. The clutter ambiguity function is introduced for extended bodies and embraces the (Woodward) ambiguity function for a point target. Due to nonlinear effects caused by partial coherence within the general target, radar signals and targets are formulated in terms of mutual coherence functions. The basic quantities describing the radar output are 1) the radar mutual coherence function (formulated in terms of the radar waveform) and 2) the target mutual coherence function which depends upon target properties, physical environment, and viewing aspect. Random noise (independent point scatterers) and partially coherent portions of reflecting bodies are made accountable in the theory. Partial coherence effects are treated as patches of reflected energy: self-coherent energy patches plus mutually coherent energy among the patches.  相似文献

Time-frequency method for detecting an accelerating target in sea clutter   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The authors design a time-frequency (TF) method for use in high-frequency surface-wave radar (HFSWR) for detecting a small accelerating target in sea clutter. The clutter is modelled by pseudo targets moving with Bragg velocity towards and away from the radar. The design is based on the Wigner distribution (WD) defined by Chan (type-III WD, in our terminology) rather than the WD defined by Claasen and Mecklenbrauker (1980) (2times type-I WD, in our terminology). Like the type-I WD, the type-III WD also concentrates a chirp signal onto a straight line in the TF plane. The type-III WD has the following advantages: 1) Its range of unambiguously measurable frequencies (RUMF) is [-pi,pi] rad/s, whereas for the type-I WD the RUMF is [-pi/2,pi/2] rad/s. 2) It allows a target separated from the clutter by pi rad/s to be detected, whereas the type-I WD coalesces such a target with the clutter and thereby mask it. An ambiguity function (AF) was defined corresponding to the type-III WD and use it to derive a smoothed type-III WD that mitigates the clutter. The smoothed type-III WD method is applied to real radar data and shown to be superior to the conventional Fourier transform method. The advantages of the type-III WD over the type-I WD are also demonstrated. The design principles laid out in the paper can also be used to develop a TF method for use in air traffic control radar (ATCR) for detecting an accelerating target in land clutter  相似文献

With the modeling of non-Gaussian radar clutter in mind, elegant and tractable techniques are presented for characterizing the probability density function (PDF) of a correlated non-Gaussian radar vector. The need for a library of multivariable correlated non-Gaussian PDFs in order to characterize various clutter scenarios is discussed. Specifically,. the theory of spherically invariant random processes (SIRPs) is examined in detail. Approaches based on the marginal envelope PDF and the marginal characteristic function have been used to obtain several multivariate non-Gaussian PDFs. An important result providing the PDF of the quadratic form of a spherically invariant random vector (SIRV) is presented. 对超高频(UHF)波段多通道合成孔径雷达(SAR)动目标检测技术进行研究,解决了长相干积累时间导致动目标在方位向散焦严重的问题。采用分块自聚焦技术对多通道SAR地面移动目标指示(GMTI)系统自适应杂波抑制后的SAR图像进行处理,改善杂波抑制后的SAR图像中动目标的聚焦情况,增强动目标与周围剩余杂波的对比度,进而提高恒虚警率(CFAR)检测的性能。与传统杂波抑制后直接进行CFAR检测方法相比较,该方法降低了检测虚警概率。实测数据处理结果显示动目标的信杂比明显提高,动目标方位向聚焦成功,证明了该方法的有效性。  相似文献

A means of optimizing a moving target indicator (MTI) filter for rejecting several types of clutter, which are generated by different mechanisms such as by rain or the ground, is formulated. lt is found that the optimal performance of such a filter depends on the spectral density functions, average radar cross sections, and the relative mean Doppler frequencies of each type of clutter. lt is shown that the optimal improvement factor of such a filter is bounded by the weighted average (weighted in accordance with the radar cross sections of the clutter types) of the improvement factor for the individual clutter type. lt is also shown that the improvement factor of such a filter is a function of the relative mean Doppler frequency f0 between the clutter types. As f0 increases, the performance of the MTI system degrades. The worst improvement factor occurs when f0 is equal to half of the radar pulse-repetition frequency (PRF).  相似文献

Measurements of sea clutter at low grazing angles using high- resolution radar show that the probability density p(x) of envelope detected sea clutter is not Rayleigh. Using the composite surface scattering model, a special varying clutter density p(x|?0) is proposed and is used to explain the non-Rayleigh nature of clutter. Since the clutter distribution has an enormous effect on the performance of a radar, the variation of the clutter densities, p(x) and p(x|?0), with various radar parameters such as frequency, pulsewidth, and polarization is found. Finally, a simulation of the composite surface scattering model is performed, and it verifies the effect of the various parameters on p(x).  相似文献

In this paper, the radar return from a clutter target illuminated by acircularly polarized wave is investigated statistically. The ratio of theenvelope of the left circular component to that of the right circularcomponent of the return signal is formed, and the probability densityfunctions and cumulative distributions of this ratio are found forlinear, square, and logarithmic law detectors. Plots of all densities anddistributions are given for several statistically modeled clutter-typetargets with typical depolarizing and back-scattering characteristics.The probability density functions for the ratio signal from a logaritmicic detector are compared for the cases of circularly and linearlypolarized waves incident on the same clutter-type target. Linearpolarization produces the worst case of spreading of the probabilitydensity function from its median value. Plots are given which indicatethat changes in the amount of depolarization by the clutter cause moresignificant changes in the median value of the polarizationration forlinear than for circular polarization.  相似文献

Studies of signal processing techniques are presented for achieving optimal autonomous acquisition of stationary targets located in a moderately intense nonhomogeneous radar ground clutter background. The process of target acquisition comprises three basic functions: 1) target detection, 2) target selection or designation, and 3) reacquiring the target for tracking. It is the second of these functions, i.e., autonomous designation of a target, that is the subject of this discussion. Theoretical analyses and predictions of the probability of correct target designation for two acquisition search methods are presented and compared with results achieved using real radar imagery.  相似文献

海杂波是反舰导弹末制导雷达回波的主要背景噪声,在末制导雷达模拟器的设计中,海杂波产生器是一个重要组成部分。在研究海杂波噪声概率分布密度的基础上,给出了一种基于FPGA技术的海杂波产生器的设计方案,并利用Altera公司的cyclone II系列芯片和QuartusII开发软件对设计进行了仿真验证。采用FPGA技术可以方便地对设计方案、海杂波的分布形式、数据量大小进行修改。仿真结果表明,该设计能够产生符合要求的海杂波信号,并且具有结构简单、集成度高、易于修改等特点。  相似文献

从飞机突防习行任务规划出发,综合考虑地球曲率、陆地(或海洋)的反射和杂波干扰、大气折射和吸收损耗等因素的影响,采用临界散射截面法生成了对空警戒雷达在不同地貌、发现概率下,对不同雷达散射截面的目标的探测空间。计算并分析了飞行高度、目标雷达散射截面、发现概率和地貌等因素对雷达探测空间的影响,以便选择低探测概率的飞行走廓,这对制定和实施安全突防飞行策略有实际意义。  相似文献

Performance analysis of echolocation systems requires the probability density function (pdf) or survival function of a matched filter output. A method is presented to derive approximations to these functions using a Pade approximation to their associated characteristic function (CF). The method is based on the Hankel transform. We conduct an experimental analysis for assessing the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) behavior of four coherent adaptive radar detectors in the presence of experimentally measured clutter data. To this end we exploit several data files containing both land, lake, and mixed land and sea clutter, collected by two radar systems (the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Phase-One radar and the McMaster IPIX radar) at different polarizations, range resolutions, and frequency bands. The results show that all the receivers, in the presence of real data, don't respect their nominal probability of false alarm (P/sub fa/), namely they exhibit a false alarm rate higher than the value preassigned at the design stage. Nevertheless one of them, the recursive persymmetric adaptive normalized matched filter (RP-ANMF) is very robust, in the sense that it presents an acceptable displacement from the nominal P/sub fa/, in correspondence of all the analyzed scenarios.  相似文献

针对机载多输入多输出(MIMO)雷达杂波分布呈现空时耦合特性,提出一种空时自适应杂波对消器.利用机载MIMO雷达的脉冲回波数据,构造杂波对消器的系数矩阵.通过空时自适应杂波对消器的预处理,可以有效地抑制杂波,并通过与常规空时处理算法的级联,最终可以有效提高动目标的检测性能.实现了由传统地基雷达杂波对消器向机载运动平台的推广.仿真结果表明,这种自适应杂波对消器不仅适用于正侧视雷达,对于非正侧视雷达也同样适用.  相似文献

针对星载SAR-ATI处理的中间结果,提出了一种称为"两步-类高斯拟合"完全自适应的检测方法。该方法可以完全自动地实现杂波和噪声中的运动目标检测,避免了传统方法作联合高斯数据的假定,无须推导SAR-ATI干涉图的理论概率密度函数。此外,该方法还可以大大降低系统的虚警概率并用仿真研究了最小可检测速度。  相似文献
