In low pulse-repetition frequency (PRF) pulse radars, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is usually calculated on a per pulse basis and this value is then multiplied by the number of pulses integrated to obtain the SNR for a given duration of target illumination. In high PRF pulse Doppler radars, SNR is usually calculated by using the centerline power of the transmitted signal spectrum as the target return power because the centerline is kept in the receiver and returns of the PRF lines are notched out [1]. We show here that both methods of SNR calculations are entirely equivalent for matched transmit-receive radar systems.  相似文献

General expressions are obtained for output SNR for both amplitude- and intensity-modulated lasers, where bandlimited Gaussian noise has been chosen as a modulating signal, and in the presence of background light. Two types of modulating signals are considered: the baseband and bandpass modulating signals. Detailed calculations are made for output SNR when an ideal narrowband optical filter is used. The dependence of output SNR on several parameters, such as the center frequency of the modulating signal, the effective average quantum rate, and input SNR, are discussed. In addition, the difference in performance between amplitude and intensity modulation is discussed. The detection characteristics of the homodyne system are also considered.  相似文献

The relation between the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the input SNR is presented for the bandpass self-biased third-law amplifier with saturation, when the input is composed of sinusoidal carrier and zero-mean stationary narrowband Gaussian noise. It is found that significant improvement in the output SNR at low input SNR's can be achieved by the self-biased third-law amplifier with saturation operated in class A. When emitter location systems measure time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) and differential Doppler (DD) by coherently cross-correlating the signal pairs, data compression techniques are needed to facilitate data transfer of one of the signals to the receiving site of the other signal. Two block-adaptive quantization schemes are analyzed here to determine their impact on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the quantized signal as well as on the post-correlation SNR. Comparisons are made between two approaches: quantization of the real/imaginary (R/I) components or the magnitude/phase (M/P) components. For the M/P approach, a rule is derived for optimally allocating the bits between the magnitude and phase. The M/P approach provides better post-quantization/precorrelation SNR for most signals; however, when the SNR of the signal not being quantized is small, the post-correlation SNR can be largely unaffected by the quantization. In that case, there is little difference between R/I and M/P, even under the most favorable scenario for M/P.  相似文献

针对深空测控任务中低信噪比情况下的航天器高精度测距问题,对再生伪码测距技术进行论述。介绍再生伪码测距技术原理,再生伪码测距通过再生方式消除信号上行链路噪声,提高了信噪比,但需要复杂的相关器;分析再生伪码测距采用的陶思沃斯码结构,详细论述再生伪码测距信号的地面上行、星上再生、地面下行处理过程,重点介绍各处理过程中的指标条件,并对再生伪码测距进行误差分析;重点对比分析再生伪码测距与传统透明转发测距,指出前者适合于深空低信噪比条件下的高精度测距,后者适用于近地高信噪比条件下的测距。  相似文献

The effect on array SNR of errors in sampling times (jitter) isan analyzed for the "Bryn processor." Jitter is modeled as a discrete-paramter er random process, and expressions for array SNR are determined as a function of signal and noise spectra and jitter characteristics. For a plane wave signal, it is found that jitter in the data used to design the processor has no effect on output SNR if the noise is independent between channels. However, jitter in the input (evaluation) n) data can cause a substantial loss in peak array SNR and in the array's frequency selectivity. These losses can be expected to increase as the high-frequency content of the data increases. The Bryn processor also loses its interpretation as a likelihood ratio processor in the presence of jitter. The effect of jitter can be reduced in many cases by increasing the sampling rate.  相似文献

Because the supernova remnants (SNRs) in other galaxies are at well-defined distances and because in many cases the reddening within extragalactic samples is more uniform than is the case for the Galactic SNR sample, extragalactic SNRs are fundamental to improving our understanding of SNR evolution. Here methods for identifying SNRs are reviewed and the current status of observational research is explored. The data do not unambiguously support the simple Sedov picture of SNR expansion, although it may be that the data can be reconciled with this picture if sufficient variation in initial conditions are allowed.  相似文献

针对随机共振锁频环路影响因素不够明朗的问题,在对随机共振锁频环路仿真验证的基础上,重点对信噪比、采样频率和系统参数对环路性能的影响进行了探究。首先,阐述了随机共振锁频环路基本原理,搭建了随机共振锁频环路模拟仿真平台。其次,通过设定不同的信噪比、采样频率和系统参数条件,观察随机共振锁频环路性能变化。最后,总结归纳出各条件对随机共振锁频环路的影响。仿真结果表明,信噪比越低,随机共振锁频环路对信号跟踪性能越差,且最低能够处理信噪比为Eb/N0=1dB的信号。采样频率在高于信号频率50倍时,提高采样频率虽可提高计算精度,但对环路跟踪性能改善作用不大。系统参数是决定随机共振效应能否发生及影响共振效果的关键因素,其表现为一个可供选择的数值区间。  相似文献

Closed-form formulas allow rapid determination of noncoherent integration gain and integration loss when the single-sample IF signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is known. In addition, if the required SNR is known for any number of integrated pulses, the required SNR for any other number is easily determined. A closed-form expression is given for radar collapsing loss, expressed in terms of the equivalent integrated signal-to-noise ratio required to produce a given combination of false-alarm and detection probabilities. Alternatively, the single-sample signal-to-noise ratio of a set of samples may be used together with the closed-form expression for integration gain to get the equivalent integrated signal-to-noise ratio.  相似文献

The loss in output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) due to amplitude limiting is obtained for a radar circuit consisting of a bandpass limiter, coherent demodulator, matched filter, and moving-target-indicator (MTI) filter. The circuit is used in scanning MTI radars. The tandem connection of the limiter and coherent demodulator is a model for the saturation of the intermediate-frequency (IF) demodulator of an MTI radar. Results on special functions are used to obtain simple formulas for the loss in output SNR relative to a linear IF demodulator when the input SNR is less than -15 dB and the number of hits per 3-dB beamwidth exceeds 15.  相似文献

Optical data taken in January 1987 from La Silla, when compared with the discovery plate of 1975.2 show no proper motion for PSR 0833-45, while a very significant one was expected if the pulsar originated in the center of the Vela SNR, which has so far been associated with it. If such an association is to be retained, either an extreme asymmetry of the SNR is required, or both objects are much older than has so far been thought. A probability density for the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) at the Doppler filter output is derived which incorporates eclipsing effects and a fluctuating target cross section model. 混合LFM信号广泛存在于实际信号环境巾,对其检测极其重要。对有严重交叉项的混合LFM信号的检测十分困难,因此提出了一种基于独立成分分析的混合LFM信号检测法。通过盲源分离提取各独立成分,利用时频分布矩阵的联合对角化法抑制交叉项,再由各成分信号自项求和重构Wigner-Ville分布,采用Wigner-Hough检测各LFM成分。分析了Wigner-Hough变换输入信噪比和输出信噪比的关系,仿真验证了算法的有效性,得出随着样本点数的增加,在低信噪比条件下,能获得好的检测性能的结论:  相似文献

Angle estimation for two unresolved targets with monopulse radar   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Most present-day radar systems use monopulse techniques to extract angular measurements of sunbeam accuracy. The familiar "monopulse ratio" is a very effective means to derive the angle of a single target within a radar beam. For the simultaneous estimation of the angles of two closely-spaced targets, a modification on the monopulse ratio was derived in (Blair and Pearce, 2001), while (Sinha et al., 2002) presented a maximum likelihood (ML) technique via numerical search. In this paper it is shown that the ML solution can in fact be found explicitly, and the numerical search of ((Sinha et al., 2002) is unnecessary. However, the ML solution requires the signal to noise ratio (SNR) for each target to be known, and hence we generalize it so it requires only the relative SNR. Several versions of expectation maximization (EM) joint angle estimators are also derived, these differing in the degree to which prior information on SNR and on beam pattern are assumed. The performances of the different direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimators for unresolved targets are studied via Monte Carlo, and it is found that most have similar performance: this is remarkable since the use of prior information (SNR, relative SNR, beam pattern) varies widely between them. There is, however, considerable performance variability as a function of the two targets' off-boresight angles. A simple combined technique that fuses the results from different approaches is thus proposed, and it performs well uniformly.  相似文献

A general analysis of the effect of an arbitrary power-series nonlinear amplifier followed by a coherent mixing device on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is performed. An expression is derived for the improvement factor which is defined as the logarithm of the ratio of the output SNR to the input SNR. This expression is applicable to the coherent amplitude detector and phase locked loop as well as noncoherent amplifier by appropriate selections of the detection angle. Moreover, the improvement factor can be obtained for noise with an arbitrary amplitude distribution. To demonstrate the applicability of this analysis, the improvement factors of the nonlinear amplifiers such as a power-law amplifier and a power-series amplifier with positive and negative discriminations are numerically calculated for the cases where the input noise amplitude distributions are Rician and triangular.  相似文献

The effects of multiplier offset voltages in adaptive arrays are examined. Multiplier offset voltages arise when active circuits are used to implement the error-by-signal multipliers required in an array based on the LMS algorithm. These offset voltages are known from experimental work to have a strong effect on array performance. It is first shown how multiplier offset voltages may be included in the differential equations for the array weights. Then their effect on weight behavior is studied. It is found that the offset voltages affect the final values of the weights, but not the time constants. Furthermore, the effect they have is influenced by the amount of element noise in the array. An adequate amount of noise is necessary to minimize weight errors due to offset voltages. An example is treated to show the effect of offset voltages on the final array weights and the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). With offset voltages present, it is found that there is a maximum SNR that can be obtained from the array. A specific input SNR is required to obtain this maximum output SNR. Finally, it is shown that a finite operating range for the weights places a further restriction on the acceptable values of offset voltages and noise.  相似文献
